Song would be amazing. Especially if Morgan stays (doubtful I know) but imagine a midfield trio of Song, Wanyama and Morgan. That is mouth watering. Also, for the fee/wages Remy would require, I'd rather not. I really don't think he's THAT good tbh.

Off topic but didn't seem worth starting a new thread for. I just clicked on the Saints Facebook page to try and get a link for today's presser...Then I remembered the season's finished...

Surprised to see Cropper gone. He's looked decent whenever I've seen him. Shame he never got a chance. Sad to see Mr Tuesday Night released. Jos was such a huge part in our promotion season and also seems like he was a great addition to the dressing room. I'll never forget his goal against West Ham at home and his goal against Coventry. That was the one inwhich there really was no going back. 2-0 is always a dodgy scoreline but in the form we were in at home to a poor Coventry side, 3-0 was game over. As Nick Halling would say on our season review DVDs, thanks for the memories, Jos. You'll be remembered with affection!

Anyone else really nervous about tomorrow? I know some are saying that they don't want Europa League (which we still might get even if things don't go our way...Or do, whichever way you wanna look at it) but for me, I can't see the point in being in the PL if you're not going to try and compete and be the best you can be. We'd be more attractive to come and play for and think of the class of players and teams that we could have from the group stages of the CL and you never know, we might even do well in it, Fulham got to the final a few years ago and with the winners going into the CL for the next season, I can't see what's not to want about it. Yes, it'll be extra games but Koeman's managed in Europe before and I trust him to assemble a proper squad. If nothing else, think how funny it'd be to finish above Spurs and Liverpool. In fact, think what an amazing achievement it would be to finish 5th, especially after the summer we had. I know it's out of our hands and we have a very tough game but I really want fifth!

We're not being liquidised on Monday, it's not our last ever game. We're only finishing for 3 months or so... In all seriousness, I wish I shared your optimism, even if somehow we managed to win at City, despite the fact Liverpool and Spurs have tough games, I still think they'll do the business. 7th would still represent a brilliant season though and if Arsenal win the cup next week then happy days.

In that case Cork, Dyer, Puncheon, Noble and Ings should all be given a go.

I wouldn't have chosen us for TV. The only issue is us making the Europa League (which would then possibly still depend on Arsenal winning the cup). There are far more exciting and important issues.

Good first 10 minutes from Saints, pressed City well and forced them into a few errors. Then City dominated till the last 10 minutes when they looked like they were going easy on us. We were battered for about 70 minutes and Cody Cropper kept us in it. It would have been about 10 if it wasn't for, I'd like to see him play the odd cup game next season, he looks a very good prospect and it's odd that he hasn't featured for the first team yet despite signing about 3 years ago and always being in the USA squad. Very disappointed that J-Rod didn't play a part. Hesketh, McQueen did well. Our bleach blonded CB also did okay. Murgabi was ****ing dreadful, he's been our weak link whenever I've seen the kids play this season. I also thought whoever it was who came on on our left flank looked quite lively. Gallagher looked okay too but he's NOT a winger. We'd be far better playing him down the middle. Reid was quite composed enough but he takes forever to decide what to do with the ball once he gets it at his feet. Couple of dodgy calls from the right sided lino on the second half but can't really blame that. Saints MAYBE deserved a goal but in truth, City deserved more than 4. Their second goal was top class tbf. Most of the crowd applauded when it went in. Also, I stupidly decided to take my thin jacket and now I'm pretty sure I've caught a cold. The game was the same as the weather, pretty miserable apart from a couple of bright spells.

He's only 24?!?!?! The **** seems to have been around forever. I thought he was about 29-30 by now. What a prize **** he is though.

http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/12957435.Former_Saints_striker_Ormerod_applies_for_Subway_franchise/?ref=fbpg He really is hard working in every sense of the phrase. Not just on the pitch but off it, it would seem. When I was growing up and my dad was telling me about all the Saints players from his day, he'd always say things like "He became a plumber when he retired" or "He's got a fish and chip shop in Woolston" and I always thought it was so weird that ex top flight footballers would go on to have "normal" jobs and since then I'd always assumed those days were gone. Fair play to him.

Would be the Forren saga all over again.

It's okay but I do prefer our current one, which has been my favourite kit since the Friends Provident days. But on the whole, I'm not unhappy. Content with this shirt. I hope we go back to yellow and blue away.

The caption on it was "It's coming, he's ready. Are you?" Anyone know what this is about and who that is?
-
I wish we'd kept him. He's better than Davis and JWP but since he was only used as a squad player and we dilly-dallied over offering him a new contract, you can't blame him for feeling under used.
-
Ah, hadn't realised he was on loan somewhere else. Must be a money thing then I guess. I'm also guessing that it was a recentish loan since I can't remember him being in the squad when we played Ipswich a few months back in the FA Cup. I'm also guessing this means they won't sign Jos if it's a money problem. Though tbh, I think he's better than League One anyway.
-
Not strictly Saints related I know but Millwall have released 18 players including Chappers! It's weird that just two years ago he was a squad player for us in the Premier League and now he's deemed not good enough to play in League One. I would have thought he'd be a decent player for them at that level. Is Jos still there on loan? I wonder if they'll want him permanently.

Doesn't it go on fouls as well as cards? I seem to remember last season when we were nailed on for this thing (but England didn't get it), the amount of fouls we committed went towards it. I also remember one team, Middlesbrough I think it was, getting that space and losing about 9-0 on the last day because they were scared to tackle.

I'm pretty sure Shaw and Lallana both said near enough exactly that this time last year.

JWP Sending off - are Saints going to appeal this ?
Bad Wolf replied to manina-pub's topic in The Saints
No point, it was a harsh red card, no one's denying that but it wasn't a ridiculous red card. I remember agreeing with that decision. I remember thinking that Mane fouled him or that Adrian got the ball or something, I can't remember now but I do remember thinking when I heard it was overturned that it was the right call. The only thing that made that red card just was that Carlton Cole should have been sent off earlier in the game. How he got away with a booking for booting our player (Bertrand I think it was) in the face, I'll never know. Then again, McCarthey did that against us for Everton about 3 times at Goodison a few weeks ago and got away without even a yellow. -
Sounds a lot like Boruc. Cech please. If Chelsea sign a new second choice in the summer which apparently they will, he'll be relegated to third choice. Plus Koeman and Mourinho are friends. You never know.

Was reminded of this game last night while watching Bournemouth. It had a very similar feel to it, it was all a bit nervy and Bombey even looked a bit dodgy till they scored but as soon as they did score, it was never in any doubt. They just controlled it from then on. The same thing happened to us three years ago today, Coventry looked up for it, forced a good save from Kelvin but once Billy Sharp flicked in that first goal, all the nerves just drained out of St Mary's and it was a party. Having got into football in the very latter stages of the 2005 season, that United game was my first 90 minutes that I sat and watched so my only real memories of us in the PL had been dropping out of it so I always dreamt about seeing us back there. One of the best days of my life. I remember thinking all through those 7 eyars just how much I wanted to see us in the PL even if we finished 17th every year and now I'm worried that we might not make the top 6! Just goes to show how far we've come. Might be nice to just remember those that helped us on the way but we sadly just outgrew. We often talk of Lallana, Markus, Cortese, Reid, Fonte, Lambert and Adkins etc but there are a lot of people that played their part who don't get mentioned that often like Hammond, Chaplow, Fox, Sharp, Richardson, Barnard, Perry, Wotton, Trotman, Cork, Harding, Forte, Bailkowski, Butterfield, Seabourne, Martin, N'Guissan, Waigo, Anthonio, Thomas, Jeidi, Pardew, Wilkins, Downes, Crosby and our old friend Guly! None of them will probably ever be called Saints "legends" but they did their job and they were a piece in the jigsaw puzzle. They'll always have a place in Saints folk law. I'm probably missing some out, feel free to add your own. Even though I moan and winge about Saints, I do ****ing love this club!

1) We've been hours away from going out of business. I don't think it's a good idea to start mocking other clubs about having been in that same situation as they could quite easily sing it back to us. 2) I don't think we kept them in business or anything. I know we helped out a bit but I don't think we saved them. 3) That song has too many verses to remember. 4) The song is a bit gay (gay in the ridiculous sense, not the homosexual sense, though there is a bit of that).

He's been that all season. I wish we'd kept Cork instead of him.

Davis having a crap game?! How unusual. Yet again he's cack. I'm just waiting for the "Steven Davis won us a point" thread. He's been dreadful all season yet still got this "unsung hero" tag. Could have had a hatrick today, I said it 12 months ago, I said it in October when we were winning all the time, I'm saying it now. Steven Davis is simply not good enough.

Proud of the lads tonight. Especially with how well they coped with going down to 10 men. I thought every single player was excellent, there's nobody that didn't have a good game from the keeper to the strikers. Deserved win. Great celebrations after as well. Brilliant evening out. Well done, lads.
