Leaving now. Quite excited about this...A cup final's a cup final! COYR!!!
-
You're assuming Liverpool and Arsenal will both win. Besides, don't we have to go through some play off **** if we finish 7th that we wouldn't have to if we finish 5th? Plus there's no guarantee we'll even get 7th. In other news Steven Davis has to be the most overrated player in the club's history. I've been saying this for months now, he's been cack all season yet he constantly gets dubbed this "unsung hero" who "never gets the credit he deserves" and he's "so overrated". He's not good enough, maybe a decent squad player but as a full PL starter? Simply not good enough.

JWP gets muscled off the ball and loses it enough as it is against the "normal" teams in the league. Imagine what he'd be like against the most physical team in the league.

I knew we were playing Stoke away this weekend and I knew that Wanyama was suspended for the next two games but I never actually put the two things together and thought "Wanyama is suspended for Stoke away" (if that makes any sense). It only dawned on me today. It's a real bummer because this is exactly the sort of game that big tank of a beast would be perfect in.

Genuine question for everyone: If Bournemouth f*ck it up and don't get promoted, how would you feel? Disappointed? Humorous? Or do you just not really care?
-
Probably not. It's swings and round abouts. You may lose some homophobic abuse and general discrimination in the name of religion or people's interpretation of it but you'd also lose the good deeds that some people do in the case of the God they chose to worship. People will kill eachother in the name of land, money, politics and all sorts of other ****. Probably football too. If you take just one thing away, you think everything's gonna be all hunky doory? I don't really see why it effects you what other people do, what's wrong with just living and let living? Each to their own and all that? Yes people use their religion to justify prejudicism and general bullying but other people use it for good. I didn't actually bring religion into this thread once apart from to establish what event I saw him at, it's you who just bought it up for no reason. I did actually come across this thread about a week ago when I was googling Dave Merrington, started reading it and forgot I'd actually started it! I still have fond memories of listing to Dave speak on his time with Saints. I'm off to play Fifa now, ironically.

Spot on. I'm a big believer in "the butterfly effect", the theory that the smallest thing can have massive consequences and I'm pretty sure it was stated when Markus brought us that one of the reasons for him doing so was that we were a "sleeping giant" so had we not gone into The Championship and then League One, Markus may not have brought us. As for Higgy, I always liked him at Saints. Was never an amazing player but put in the effort and was constantly played out of position. Also, he had a great throw in, free kick and penalty on him.

Koeman confirms leaving Clyne out was to give him a rest and he'll play next week. He also said he was annoyed when Mane stepped up to take the penalty because he'd specified JWP had to because of the "rules of the team".

Great result, especially as Spurs lost and Swansea dropped points. Can't really think of a stand out MOTM but I'm gonna go with Morgan for his unselfish pass to set Pelle up for his goal. He had a decent game too. Yet again Steven Davis was ****ing cack and yet again everyone will probably go on about how underrated he is. Hopefully that helps bring certain people back down to Earth as this forum seems to have some sort of weird obsession with him and how "underrated" he is despite his constant **** ups. He works hard, yes but he's nowhere near as good as everyone makes out (which makes his "underrated" tag even weirder). Also as an added little bonus, Skatesmuff have lost and Eastleigh are still winning.

Boruc won't be with them next season. I think he wants to go back to Poland to end his career. It'll be nice to see Surman at St Mary's again, he'll get a good reception no doubt. Met him a few times, nice guy too.

Steve Bruce LOVES us. He always talks us up and is never anything but complimentary about us. I like him actually, I've always had a bit of a soft spot for Steve Bruce. I've never understood why he's never linked with England. I'm not saying he should be England manager but he'd be a far better option than some of the lot that get linked. His squad selections would be better than Hodgson's too.
-
Silly question. If we hadn't have sold them then we might not have had the money to buy other players who have won us valuable points this season. It's all impossible to say.
-
3 quid for a cup final and 2 for a pint isn't to be sniffed at. Especially since I'm only a 15 minute walk away from St Mary's. I'll be there.
-
How did they screw us? They beat us fair and square because Idiakez and Best ****ed up their penalties. It could be argued their penalty in the first leg was outside the box but what were they supposed to do, beg the referee to reconsider on our behalf? Honestly don't get how you came to the conclusion that they screwed us.

Who I want to go down: Sunderland, Villa, QPR. Who I think will go down: Burnley, QPR, Leicester. Who I want to go up: Bournemouth, Norwich, Brentford. Who I think will go up: Bournemouth, Watford, Derby.
-
Was Mane away with Senegal? He has the longest trip of any Saints player doesn't he? He could just be jetlagged. He often starts on the bench after an International break.
-
Hernandez would probably cost less than Austin. Austin is hugely valued by his club so they'll play hard ball over his fee. United don't want Hernandez so they'd be happy for us to take him at a bargain price. Having said that I think I've read that Ings is out of contract so he'd be free and since it was Bournemouth (and us to a point) that developed him, we wouldn't even have to pay a one of those fees that we did with Clyne, I don't think?
-
Pelle's started very well. Right in the game.
-
Same here. When I got into football in 2005 I used to avidly support England and get so into their games, even the friendlies but I stopped giving any sort of a **** about England about 5 years ago. I only take an interest when our players are playing. One thing I don't understand is why is the competitive game always before the friendly? You'd think it'd be the other way round, so the manager can try various formations and combinations. Having a friendly AFTER the competitive game just seems extremely pointless and a waste of everyone's time.
-
In general I want an England but I'm not that fussed and wouldn't be if it was a competitive game. I'd swap an England win for a Pelle goal.
-
Bolton aren't bigger than Forest and West Brom aren't bigger than Leeds or West Ham. IMO of course.
-
I guess to sum it up: England players who don't play for Saints or Saints players that don't play for England? I know my answer....C'MON SERBIA!!!!
-
Not the tedious old "club or country?" debate (well I guess it is in a way) but for this International break, are you hoping England have a good time or the Saints players do at their respective countries?
