  1. ********. Terrible news. #superkelvindavis though
  2. Yes because the club may have gone out of business and he has a family and a future to think of. Yet as soon as it got sorted down here, he tore up the contract (metaphorically) and stayed with us and it doesn't seem like he even needed to think about it much. I think he genuinely loves the club, fans and area of Southampton. Anyone who says Kelvin isn't loyal is a bit cynical. A true Saints legend IMO.
  3. Very entertaining first half but that's because both teams look shocking defensively. We should be winning about 5-4 rather than 1-0. Bring Wanyama on for Tadic who has been sh1te and Big Vic will tighten things up a bit, we miss him atm. I'd forgotten how much I love Kelvin Davis! Proper Saints legend.
  4. So anyone but Mane then. Good decision to withdraw Wanyama, not just because of the card situation but he's a defensive player and with Morgan in the team, at home to Burnley, we need to be more offensive. It'll be interesting to see what formation that is. Dunno about anyone else but when I see Toby's name on the teamsheet, my confidence level shoots up.
  5. JWP really hasn't played well enough to be in there so I can understand him not being called up but the fact Bertrand isn't in the squad is nothing short of a joke. I'd have also been tempted to call up Charlie Austin. Also, only two keepers? Don't they usually take three?
  6. He's from Butlocks in Netley. I went to school with him.
  7. A nice reunion with BWP then (they were here together wern't they?) Always liked him. I remember when I had a season ticket and used to go up with a few friends of mine, every time we got a corner we used to shout "C'MON, ON THOMAS' HEAD!!!" **** knows why but then we were about 16 Met him a couple of times as he was going into the stadium on match days. Seemed like a decent guy. Not the best or most skilled player around but always gave his all and was a useful player in the FL with his aggressive style of play. The one that sticks out for me isn't so much his goal against Ipswich, as it put us into the next round and the less said about that, the better but his goal in the JPT against Charlton, where we won 2-1 and who knows? Had he not scored that, we might not have gone on to win and might not have had our day out at Wembley. Good luck to him.
  8. Great performance from us all over the park. Defence, midfield and attack were all top drawer, Forster kept us in it at times and we showed real team spirit to come back from 1-0 down at the most difficult ground in the country to play at and get a point. Struggled to pick a MOTM but went for Morgan as IMO he was the best player on the pitch. Mane, Long, Forster and Bertrand were all quality too. Coincidence that it's the first time this season Pelle has been dropped? Looked so much sharper in attack. Brilliant performance, brilliant result. Wow, we needed that.
  9. Still not quite his old self but today was the best performance from him this year.
  10. I'm guessing that's a direct replacement for the guy who went to Spurs who's name I can't remember...Paul Mitchell was it?
  11. Sunderland player gone missing, they played the first few minutes with 10 men, Poyett didn't know where he was and took ages to work it out. He's now limped on. Sunderland are pathetic.
  12. I was going to say this goal but couldn't remember who provided the assist. It was an amazing pass, timed to perfection.
  13. This. He'll see out his contract for the next two years, when he'll have done 10 years with us then get a testimonial and retire. One of my favourite players in Saints history. A proper Saints legend, plus he seems quite handy to have in the dressing room for moral. Remember that 0-1 win at Leeds? He was absolutely outstanding, never seen a keeper keep a team in a game like that.
  14. With the money we've got for Shaw, Chambers, Ox, Lallana etc I'd have been absolutely amazed if this wasn't the case tbh.
  15. I'd LOVE Europa League. Yes, CL would be an amazing achievement but I think in the long run it'd cripple us. We're not ready as a club to be facing the likes of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. I think, if we're serious about becoming a club that's regularly in the CL, then we need a couple of seasons in the Europa League first to get us used to the 2 games a week schedule, against teams that are more on our level.
  16. Ahahaha! Brilliant.
  17. Only saw the 2nd half so missed all the goals but I thought the whole team were outstanding. Who is our number 3? I didn't recognise him, I don't think I've seen him play before but he impressed me. I'd like to pick out a few players to give special mentions to but I'd have to pick the whole team. Great team performance. Contradicting the first paragraph, I know but I will give a special mention to Sam Gallagher who I watched a couple of weeks ago in the U-18s game against Spurs and he looked so out of sorts and unfit. Massive improvement tonight, looked right up for it. Gonna try and get to the home leg of the final against Blackburn and hoping to maybe see J-Rod play a part. Who knows but if he's not fit enough to take part in that, it's doubtful he'll be fit enough to play any part in the first team this season. Great performance from all the lads.
  18. I think we all would. And Swansea and Newcastle.
  19. Not gonna guess if it is or isn't true or who it is but this bit got on my nerves a bit... "Police also discovered a loaded gun at the mansion according to the report, however it's understood the player legally owned the firearm." - Well if he legally owned it and therefore had a license etc then there's no problem is there. I don't get why they felt the need to include that in the article. Just a lazy way of trying to rile the story up IMO.
  20. You could say about any team "if they hadn't done this, they'd be here". The fact is we DID score 8 goals against Sunderland, I don't see the point in hypothetically discounting it. It's not like all our other wins have been 1-0 (okay a fair few of them have). We've had a 4-0, a few 3-1's, a 2-0 etc. Why discount the 8-0 just because it drags down the point you're trying to make. It happened and as dire as Sunderland were that day, you don't score 8 goals in the PL without your attack being pretty good on the day. I don't think our attack problems are anywhere near as bad as people are making out, it's just a poor run of form.
  21. If Poch is taking the credit when we do well, surely he has to take the blame when we fail?
  22. Are you for real? Why would you be embarrassed? It's a results business and anyone that would rather play pretty football and lose is following the wrong sport. WTF is he meant to do? Tell them to leave great big holes for us to exploit to be fair? If his team has a 1-0 lead why on Earth should he not sit back and defend? I don't understand why "Parking the bus" in order to get a result is such a bad thing...I certainly don't understand how it's "disgusting". Enlighten me.
  23. Most ****ing gutless half of football I've seen from Saints since we returned to the PL and yes I'm including the 6-1 at Arsenal when we were 4-0 down at this point. Tadic and Pelle have been especially sh1te, Mane is one selfish, greedy **** and as for the rest of them, they just do not look even the slightest bit interested. WTF has happened to us?! Why is it we shoot at goal from 40 odd yards or not at all?! Utter ****ing ********.
  24. Was Prutton THAT good? I only got into football (and also Saints) in the very latter part of that season. The 4-3 against Norwich was the first time I got excited about anything but anyway, in the Championship, only a few months later, Prutton was very hit and miss. I can remember him having one really good game against Leicester where he scored and was the best player on the pitch but I can't remember him doing much else. This isn't the first time I've heard people say things along the lines of, if Prutton wasn't suspended we'd have stayed up. Was he THAT good in the PL? (Genuine question) If so, he should have been amazing in the Championship, surely?
  25. Saints just put a picture on Facebook of Toby in training. Hopefully he'll play on Saturday, having said that Yoshida's not done anything wrong to be dropped so could go back to a back three with wing backs? Seemed to work quite well when we've played it. Is this still the injury Toby picked up at Old Trafford or has he come back and had another one since then?
