  1. My local pub (King Charles, Kings Worthy) has been closed for month - new tenants revamping the place. Always been a village 'community pub' - pop in and you are sure to see someone you know for a chat and a beer; good crowd who did the 'quick one after work'; historically lots of events - summer bbq, quiz nights, decent atmposhere for the football etc, decent 'standard' food. Good friendly place. The last tenant buggered it up a bit, by failing to do anything to keep the community involved; and trying to turn it into a 'foody' place, put prices up a lot too. So loads of people stopped going. Shame really. He left a month or two back. Was the grand reopening last night. Got an invite/advert through the door, with a 'it's your pub/ we are giving the pub back to the community' message. Going to start a footie team, etc etc. Felt very optimistic. The place now looks like an advert for Ikea; they have tried to make it a mega-trendy food place - the menu is way too pricey, a pint of London Pride is £3.30, a glass of wine £4.50. Having been a regular for 10 years, I am in no rush to go back. Is the traditional English pub a thing of the past?
  2. Curious as to why it lets you search on their weight. Do managers make signings based on chubb-factor? And what is with the 'enquiry' button? Can I email in and buy one?
  3. Okay - I am tempted with this one. Looks brill, and who doesn't want to play at cowboys. Trouble is I thought GTA4 was over-hyped, and average at best. Loved some of the earlier GTA games, but the last one.....just could not get on with it at all. Would not say it was ****e, but it got traded back to Game pretty quickly. So....how does the gameplay of RDR compare? Think I'll like it? BTW, my fave game of the past few years was Oblivion. Free ranging, loads of missions, good storyline, great graphics, violence! Which seems to sound a bit like RDR........

    Thailand.

CM is my favorite place in the world. My Dad lives there, and my fiance is from there. Thailand is incredible. It is so easy to be influenced by the ****ty, sex tourism stuff: but that's not the reality of the place. Overall sounds like you had am amazing time - lucky sod!
  5. An explaination would be welcome.

So they didn't explain the significance of the numbers? THE main line of mystery from day 1. That is very poor. Did they ever explain how Locke ended up able to walk? What happened to Walt and his Dad? How come fatty Hurley never lost weight? Why did the fit brunette never get her thrupney bits out?

Any more detail? They died in the crash and 'dreamt' it all; went to hell? Purgatory?
  8. Driving your frog to a river sounds a LOT like an innuendo Particularly if you have the mind of a 12 year old, and too much time on your hands.
  9. Packs of 17 year olds farting around on 50cc mopeds Women drivers The two bee nests in my wall My achilles being fooked again so I can't run or train Job hunting
  10. I really can't see why people are getting the ****s with this. So what if there are minor differences in quality. Is anyone other than the most anal really going to worry about this in the middle of the game?
  11. Christ. I only scanned the first page of posts, but people clearly believed it....... What a bunch of dicks.
  12. I would not claim that there is a 'full service history' - I cannot find any service book, However, there is a history of service in the form of receipts, MOT certificates, invoices for parts etc. These date back to 1979.
  13. I would imagine this is ********. But, I guess we might offer him a 1 year deal as back up to Rickie. Pay as you play, obviously.
  14. Nail. Head. Hammer. Shame to see some go, but it does signal ambition. Invariably the handful of replacements we get will be of far higher quality than the ones that have left. Really looking forward to a summer of transfer activity. I wonder how early in the summer will make signings? Hopefully not the lastminute, lets not pay their holiday wages, Lowe school of thinking.

Anyone still watching this? Apparently the last ever episode is due to air next week. I enjoyed the first 2 series then got fed up with it. The producers buggered it up by dragging it out far too long. There were way too many episodes that did no more than fill airtime, and the scriptwriters clearly got themselves lost. I am curious to know how it will end though, and to know what the island was, how/why the people ended up there, who the others were etc. So save me the pain of watching it, can anyone give a brief summary?
  16. Having played 10 or 12 matches now, I have now got bored with it. Good fun, but a bit repetative really. Glad I didn't pay for it...... Right - on to Silent Hunter 5.
  17. They're all drunk, Scottish, heroin addicts with names like Spud and Begbie? (or sad gits in raincoats with cameras)

    Callan

Watching the old 70s spy-type show, 'Callan' on DVD. Remember it vaguely from when I was a wee boy. Edward Woodwood in great form. Looks very dated, but strong scripts, some decent performances, fairly dark in nature, and overall very engaging. Thoroughy enjoyable.
  19. I really am in love with this club again. Integrity, professionalism, ever increasing community-spirit, and finance to drive us forward. Optimisim is a thing we have rarely had the taste of over the past decade.
  20. Relatively new - certainly last 4/5 months. I think it is on XBox too.
  21. Hate to see it go, but needs must. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1978-LANCIA-BETA-MONTE-CARLO-/230473495185?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item35a94a7291
  22. Can't disagree with that. I hope to hell he is staying; he may not be the best manager in the world, but he is pretty good: certainly capable of getting us out of L1, and we could do with keeping things on an even keel for a while. Rarely smoke without fire though.
  23. Soap opera Saints again, eh? Oh for some stability. Hope you are wrong but I have a feeling......... So: better for him to go now or in December next season?
  24. C'mon. More detail. Sitting here watching Se7en. I think the eighth deadly sin is posting rumours on internet boards! Tell us more good man!
  25. Is a good laugh. I used to be a geeky spotty kid into D&D, wargames etc. Loved the original Blood Bowl board game. Basically American Football, played by fantasy races, with loads of fighting. I am now a geeky, spotty 30-something, and love computer games. Took a stroll down memory lane by getting hold of Blood Bowl. 'Turn based' mode replicates the board game, with decent graphics and amusing commentary. Simple, violent, sport based fun. And yes, I have called my team the Saints......
