I would love to see him stay. Can also see it being beneficial for him to stay. He is very raw and inconsistent. Could see him moving to another prem club and benchwarming. If it was sold to him that he can stay and get regular football and if it doesn't look like we're going up he can leave in Jan, it could work for both sides.

He had excellent protection in front of him tonight. He made 2 saves! Even Ramsdale made 3 saves, which shows how much protection he had considering Arsenal had most of the possession. You can make excuses for him but you can't blame the "clowns" in front of him on this occasion.

I think one of the reasons Bazunu is so frustrating is bc he never really gets close to things. It might be asking a lot for him to save their second. It would have to be a worldy like Ramsdale's against Salah a couple of weeks ago. But he was nowhere near it. We did well to repel most of their pressure tonight but mostly it was from blocking the shots coming in. It wasn't from a great goalkeeping performance. It never is.

Unfortunately having given up two 2-0 leads in their last two games I fear that once they get to 2 they'll only be starting on Friday. Can see it being 4 or 5 and that's just the first half.

I think you're probably right on most of these. I don't think Tino will go. He'll probably think a year in the Championship won't do him any harm as he gets his fitness back and club won't want to lose both right backs. I think Burnley will be desperate to keep Tella as he's been pivotal for them this season. We might be able to get a good price (a lot more than £15m) as a result.

People with the right attitude. We got rid of all the characters with the right attitude at the start of the season - Oriol, Stephens, Tella, Redders, Smallbone. Replaced them with people who don't care.

Despite all the negativity on here, I don't think that first half was too bad. Created some good openings, just a shame we can't finish anything. Looked fairly solid at the back.
-
Do they not do any finishing in training? Aribo and Sulemana with great chances but some of the lamest finishes you'll ever see.

Keeping Track of the Contracts 2024-25
Boris Karloff replied to Over land and sea's topic in The Saints
Ornstein in The Athletic saying that Salisu isn't injured but lacks commitment. I guess that's the last we've seen of him in a Saints shirt then. Disappointing if true. -
I'm not sure he's a lone striker. His hold up play is poor. It would be interesting to see him play with Che, making runs off him. But seems like that will never happen, as it would be way too adventurous for our management.

Was a well taken goal by Mara. He's probably the closest we've got to a natural finisher at the club. Just needs to be much better without the ball and needs some teammates who will set up some chances for him.
-
To be fair I think most fans said it was a good transfer window except for the lack of a goalscorer. Who knows, maybe if we'd bought a decent striker, the likes of Edozie might have thrived.
-
We really missed Adams today. Mara just isn't up to this level, trotting around, unable to hold the ball up. West Ham were there for the taking but unfortunately we started off with a waste of space up top.
-
At least we can't be much worse in the second half. Mara out of his depth. Stu has been worse than Moi but everyone will go on about how poor Moi has been. At least he created one of our only threatening moments. Stu has done nothing.

JWP must ask himself what the point is. He might as well retire from international football when Philips gets a game ahead of him.

Was ABK not given the choice of surgery or go to the world cup? I don't think it would have gone down very well with ABK if the club had overruled him. Similar to the Pogba situation, where he should have had the operation, but chose not to.

There were two decisions that any rational football fan would agree could have possibly gone either way (I'm not even going to dignify the Rashford or KWP ones). Yet judging by the endless moaning from the United fans you'd have thought there was a government-level conspiracy against them. Just the level of outrage when they don't get a couple of decisions is something to behold. When Taylor saw the VAR image of Casameiro's studs on Charley's shin did he really have any option? And interestingly Casameiro and even his team mates didn't seem to give the ref a hard time in their usual fashion. I think he knew.
-
I wish everyone would stop moaning. Last week we got very lucky. This week the luck wasn't with us. At least we created plenty of chances. De Gea was man of the match and it just didn't quite fall for us. Our finishing isn't great but we knew that. A good performance overall.
-
I wouldn't be surprised if it's his season over. Looks like ligament damage which at best will be weeks but could be many months. So frustrating as we look better with him in the side.
-
We looked so much better with Alcarez on the pitch and it's a position where we don't have many great alternatives. Am concerned his injury may keep him out for a long time. Jamie Redknapp said at half time that it looked like ligament damage (and he should know). If true, this will keep him out for weeks and possibly end his season. Then we're back to Diallo or Moi.
-
Well I think it's us. Dyche doesn't have great finishers at his disposal. Apart from DCL there aren't any goals in that team. But at least he's getting the ball in the box. If he had Tall Paul he'd be getting the full backs zipping crosses in every two minutes whereas we can barely achieve more than a couple of crosses each game.

It's very unusual for top managers to be so obsessed with their past glories. The best managers are always focused on the here and now and the future. You didn't see Pep on Sunday after the Spurs loss say "yeah but I was great at Barcelona". I think I am like most Saints fans in that I'm sick and tired of him bleating on about Luton. I don't care. I only care about what he does at Saints. If I hear him go on about bloody Luton one more time....
-
Did Saints ever actually interview NJ for the job? I've interviewed a lot of people in my time and if I ever came across anyone who talks so incoherently and unconvincingly and comes out with so much tosh I would politely try to bring the interview to an end and show them the door.

We were unlucky today but most relegated teams are. I thought the ref was incredibly lenient. Reed and Paulinha just bring people down if an attack breaks out. An early booking might have blunted their effectiveness. Having said that, Lyanco and ABK got away with a lot too. Unfortunately, Jones doesn't seem to trust S Armstrong so we are left with the useless Aribo. We need another midfielder in the transfer window who is better than Aribo. And someone who can score, obviously.

Looked better going forward than in recent weeks. Very low bar though. Hanging on at times. Controversial, but we look better with Ely in the side.
