Did the "Lowe Boycott" Damage the Chances..
Give it to Ron replied to Guided Missile's topic in The Saints
So what you are saying is that the odd number of fans that stayed away because of Lowe was far greater than those that went? Because for me the 15k or so that kept going far more deserve a decent club than the few who stayed away. But I thought it only numbered a couple of hundred according the Lowe supporters on here? So why do a few deserve the club to go to the wall? -

Of course what GM also chooses to ignore is the fact that once Lowe went and we knew we were in desperate ****e the gates went up - ok cheaper prices helped but if you were an investor you couldnt ignore the passion, support and feeling at those last few home games but you could if you wanted to ignore the real reasons why admin was happening and not just blaming the fans. -
Morph Why doesn't Salz join up with the other bidders like Pinnacle? Too many cooks?

So where does that leave the 15k or so that did attend will they get the club they deserve? I love the constant threads that appear on here that attack the fans who didn't go yet disregard all those that did regardless of whether they supported Lowe or not! Why didn't Rupert ask gavyn for a loan as he is presumably the same class....as that seems important to some. -
Prediction based on further information? Do we have enough time for them to complete the buyout?
-
Really .....personally I thought it rather childish but going by your posts on the main board lately can see why you think otherwise. Funnily enough Ian Botham...you may have heard of him perhaps has also suggested it was a stupid decision to play there today with all their drainage issues....still that may be too highbrow a conversation for you.

Suing/Claiming negligence against the NHS
Give it to Ron replied to saint_stevo's topic in The Lounge
Yep thats what started with me....4 arthroscopies later finally just having bone on bone for the last 8 years have just had a uni-compartmental knee replacement! -
Sorry I dont think there is that big a drop between the CCC and Div 1 in terms of revenue from TV money, we also have an extra cup competition to bring in more gate money! Shop revenue I can't see being much different and in fact if we have a new away kit will bring in more money than last year when I believe we didnt change kit? Do we not also have the ST money to come in to offset the lower wage bills etc perhaps I am being naive but I am clinging to the fact that a new board/manager with no baggage just may see more people renew than were going to by the end of the season if Lowe/Wilde were still here. A successful campaign will see bigger gates....we just need that initial investment and the correct choice of manager now the rest will follow.

Or the fact that the South's weather is far better in the early part of the summer than the North but then again that was far too obvious for you perhaps are you part of the ECB?
-
But most of the millions going out Nick were the wage bill, payments to sacked managers, gardening leave and compensation. Once we have the final cull and an income from ST's we should be in a far better place financially.

On a day when the Rosebowl is basked in glorious sunshine....Headingley and the ODI is abandoned due to waterlogged pitch. Yet another brilliant decision by the numpties!
-
Yeah its not as if the 150 takeover/non-takeover threads on here are enough to discuss that is there? Or the constant Lowe/Anti-Lowe threads that get posted every 2 minutes? Lets only have those threads over and over again.....
-
Perhaps the previous board did not want to sell at the price someone offered and try and fix the issues they had created?
-
I see the usual idiots infect this thread with their pathetic sexist jokes. Saints girls still have thriving academy and junior teams run by Peter Thorne a very good coach. The Saints have several teams that play in the Winchester and District Girls League and are quite successful. One of the girls that plays for my team on Saturdays has played for Saints last year and is off to them next is absolute quality and a match for most boys of her age. There is no comparison between skill level but the enjoyment, committment and team game is as strong and in many cases far better than the boys. I do not think any money should be diverted from the new owners if we have them as the priority must be to channell everything into the first team until we can get back to the Premiership and then possibly revisit this again.

It was not a stick to beat him with but to point out that Wilde/Hone/Wilde were not alone in bad transfer deals as pointed out in John B post. Wilde/Hone/Crouch also bought in Wright, Lucketti, Perry, Cork, Bennett.... I have championed the academy set up by Lowe for many years but this was ruined by Lowes obsession with seeing youth only and ruining and setting back many of the youngsters he bought through the academy.

Great post and exactly on the same wavelength as you. Lowe did not need to come back personally and could of employed a proper CEO who would of paid for himself with cost cuts and directing the money more wisely than he did. We employed 4 Dutchmen so the money was there.

Have a look through certain posters and use of the word Pikey!! Not 19C by the way.

That is just unbelievable..... Can you remind me who was chairman when we signed Delap, Delgado, Neil McCann, Van Damme?

The academy set up under Lowe was excellent and a great plan to supplement the first team. We would of been stuffed earlier without the Theo and Bale money. We had some great coaches Prost, Henderson and the guy who left to work at the FA whose name escapes me but he was superb. Always ready for a chat and the youth worked really well with him. Where it all went wrong IMO was Lowes obsession to see the team full of academy kids only. I will never forget or forgive Redknapp for setting those kids up for that league cup game and slaughtering them after for it. He used them to get back at Lowe and set some of them back ages. Some of the claims that we had the best academy was overblown but we had some great youngsters at that time. I watched them regularly at Staplewood and the pace and movement was amazing, we had strength, movement and a plan - something I have not seen in the last 2 years of watching them. OK we may be in a lull of players coming through but what we did have were put in far too early last season and crucified when they were not ready. All part of Lowes obsession and refused to see that balance was needed. Lowe should be praised for his early work in setting it up but its a great shame he destroyed that by pushing them all forward far too early.

You just dont get the fact that not everyone sees him as satan...there are many of us who can see him for what he is and judge by his results - 2 relegations and administration. Loaning out 3 strikers and employing a team of 4 Dutch jokers only may have been a factor in lower crowds and results! Many of us think Wilde was as responsible if not more but the bit in bold cracks me up! He's not the Messiah he is a naughty boy! You keep peddling the shocking fact that we sold out for the Man U game....amazing that Southampton and surrounding area is full of plastics! No-one is saying that the 9k extra attendance all returned due to Lowe going but even you cannot ignore the fact that there was more in the ground when he had gone and more harmony and all in it together than when old rosey cheeks was here.

Yet another poor club has gone into administration today - Chester City. Its going to be the same for quite a few this summer
-
Did we not have near gates of 25k since he left...just cant accept the fact your idol has gone can you......balance fence sitter my ars8 you had no need to mention him but do so at every opportunity.

To be honest I dont think we need to spend millions, I am not one who will complain if the guy who buys us only has 10 milion rather than 100 million. What I think is important is that we get a good manager that knows what is needed in this division. Someone that can beg, borrow and loan players that will do a job. Last season our loans were a joke and Wotte has bought in 1 player from his country. I totally agree we need this all sorting quickly so we can take advantage of players that are being released like Murty and Duberry.

Dont we all...you can tell by the postings on here in the last week things are very fraught amongst the fanbase. I have spent the last week laid up in hospital after a knee op and my f5 key is as worn out as my old knee. I just hope we don't end up with another Wilde, Lowe or Crouch and can move onwards and upwards. All most of us want is to go to SMS and not worry about boardroom, chairman, PLC but just who is playing that week and why we haven't bought that 20 goal a season striker yet.
