As usual you ignore what was written ....how things unfold...what in a week!! Read the post FFS!!
-
Thats fair enough but Alp you do yourself no favours at all with the way you change with the wind. You went to the Birmingham game and I remember your quote " I can go back to Austria knowing we are heading in the right direction" as I echoed those sentiments that night. However no less than 1 week later you had reverted back to the old whingeing whining by forecasting doom and gloom! It will take time to get over the Dutch revolution and the problems that caused right throughout the club.

What makes me laugh is the way morons keep bringing up the Swindon game and dismiss all the improvements made since then! Yes we should beat Yeovil.....Man Utd should of beaten us in 76!!! Not everything is straightforward in football.

AP's Reason for not picking Gillett
Give it to Ron replied to The Fat Controller's topic in The Saints
So where does he play? I like Hammond and think he has solved a number of problems we had, height, mobility, does the simple things well and mobile. To compliment him we need a passer and the frustrating Schneiderling fits that bill if fit and willing. James did pretty well when he played there but is not a creator and nor is Gillett, yes Gillett gets stuck in but his lack of height in this league is a problem . To sign the leagues top scorer but then deny him the service he needs is where are problems lie IMO not with the dropping of a very ordinary footballer. -
does it really matter how he scores??? in of his right buttock cheek from a defender clearing will do for me if it gives us 3 points.

I wrote something similar the other day - our club as a whole is rife with nice, ball playing competant youngsters. All pretty decent and some with a fair amount of ability and very promising....but when they come up against the physical teams we get clobbered. I know quite a few in the youth set ups and still we are recruiting the small, lightweight decent lads, we should be looking for far bigger, physical lads to match the divisions we will be in for a few years. Recently we have had too many of the Whites, Lancashires, Boyle, Gasmi, Thomson type and not enough of the Baseya and Kenwynne physiques.
-
Exactly...that is my whole point...nothing to do with expectations just based purely on what we had available and how Burleys pathetic team selections and tactics cost us automatic promotion. That has nothing to do with fans...its to do with Burley's half arsed approach to the job and abysmal management here.
-
We have Fish who is pretty decent at full back.....providing off course Sick Note Holmes is available to cover him wide.

Good move! (extended opening hours for the bar)
Give it to Ron replied to harvey's topic in The Saints
Totally agree 100% how many people now just don't bother or go down look at the queue and go back upstairs without buying anything! What a complete waste of revenue....if you sell 4 bottles in the whole of half-time you more than pay the wages of the poor seller behind the kiosk. -
But had he done a better job withthe resources he had we would of had even more money AND those players worth 20m!!!
-
NickH those were just some examples that stuck in my memory as really bad management - the defender did play a few games and did OK but not set the world alight admittedly but we didnt either with no cover and that wa the point! Bennet should not of been in that position had Burley done his job and recruited - how can you rely on Killer coming back with the history he had. All water under the bridge now but I hold Burley in just as much disain as I do for Redknapp .....Calum Davenport v Carlton Cole!!!
-
I would get rid of both...if you watch them in Ressie games they scare the balls off me every time a cross comes into the box. I am not going by what Grimsby fans think either as it was always going to be difficult going there in that position. I just pray nothing happens to KD!!!!
-
Sorry Nick your re-writing history hear to suit your anti-Wilde agenda as we all know you questioned him from the start - rightly as it seemed. Burley is a different kettle of fish all together. How can you forget Watford at home with no less than 6 players playing on the wrong side in one game? 2-0 down with 20 minutes to go and makes a substitution in injury time when we had 3 subs available? 0-0 at home to S****horpe? and bringing Saga on in injury time! A whole pre-season ignoring the central defence apart from bringing a trialist to Eastleigh that ended up at Bristol City because we rejected him. I jumped for joy when we got Burley and cannot forgive him for his lack of effort here and pathetic team selections. What manager lets your most inexeprienced forward take the first penalty when he has scored an own goal in the game and his confidence is low and pressure so intense? We had a squad here that should of gone up automatically and IMO only Burleys weird tactics and substitutions caused us to scrape in the playoffs mainly due to Preston hitting the self destruct button as well.
-
I have seen him play 3 times.....absolutely bloody useless in all 3 games. No pace, can't tackle, gives the ball away cheaply, no engine , constantly fouling opponents as can't get in a good position quick enough. Most of these are born out of his lack of actually playing matches and fitness and sharpness....also his inability to get off the treatment table. So why don't you watch him and get off the fans back that have seen him???

Michael Mifsud ....unattached player
Give it to Ron replied to david in sweden's topic in The Saints
So why is he a free agent? why are clubs not clamouring for his signature? Does he not have a tongue in his head to tell his agent to stfu? -
So you are going to ignore all those years of loyalty, almost single handedly keeping us in the top division where the club enjoyed more revenue based on this admission? You also ignore the point that he only did this once - so you are calling him a liar? Yes it was stupid and I am not condoning it for one minute but lets keep this in perspective. Can you tell me what personal gain he had in playing for a struggling side when he had offers from far richer clubs?
-
Yes most people would expect us to be on -something but then again I am trying to look on the positive side as I can see reasons why its been such a poor start. If we are still -something by the end of October then questions will need to be asked as he will have his side settled by then. Charlton are held up as a shining beacon on here yet their manager did't win a game for 20 matches....its hardly AP fault that we started on -10 and has that added pressure.
-
There is not one of us that do not want us to buck our ideas up and win.....BUT there are a few of us that are willing to give him more than 6 games to do this. There have been big improvements in the squad and some positions been strengthened. If you look at last Saturdays game no-one was more ****ed off than I was at watching us fail to score but that game saw us without his 2 main choice strikers and a young lad that is so far off form its criminal to play him but we had no other choice - not even on the bench. As for the other comments if you read you post mine was answering it....you said in response to non-league signings....we haven't actually signed anyone but apparently we were after Exodus - no proof anywhere that we were apart from a 3rd rate football site that you seem to use as a weapon against AP. You intimated that AP was ruining this club I pointed out the main reasons for me why this club was ruined...nothing to do with AP apart from the fact he is trying to put it back together even this is a very slow process. So you think we will be relegated after 6 games .....there are still loads of games left I am so glad you have written us off already. I may have rose tinted glasses in your eyes but in mine they are just realistic that we were crap last season, had no pre-season, bought in new replacements that are far better than what we had and can see us getting a win sooner rather than later then we will be away. So being a doom and gloom merchant offer us an alternative to what we have already and how you think you would do better than AP.
-
He chopped and changed the team in 6 whole games - injuries/internationals/poor form...stupid Murty getting himself injured! You wanted us to sign players yet moan when they are put in the team!! He swapped formations - yet at Swindon you moaned because he didn't! So apparently now means we have signed them...brilliant so apparently we have signed the great Mifsud that no bugger apart from you wants? So AP was responsible for the Dutch farce and 2 relegations....what a complete arse he is even though he was nowhere near the club at the time. Why don't you have some balls and admit you are one who DD wants to know wants him sacked?
-
Ginge...I am with you, I cannot believe that Colchester were 7th when I looked at the table. In the whole game they created 2 chances - one was only caused by indecision between Kelvin and defender who should of booted it into orbit! You only had to look at them line up at the start to see what sort of game they would play and every substitution they bought on a bigger player!...we just need that monkey off our back and then we will be away. The main problem as I see it is that throughout the club, watched the ressies last year a bit and nearly all our squads are lightweight, decent on the ball players with no height or bulk who get kicked off the ball. Pardew is addressing this in the first team but it will take some time to filter through to the other squads. We no longer need French lightweights like Gasmi but lads who are big, strong and the Baseya/Kenwynne mould who can also play pretty well but this will take time and building to which will not suit some fans who demand instant success. We are ALL disappointed with the start - no-one was more ****ed off than I was on Saturday but as soon as I saw the team thought we would struggle to score goals.
-
In bold responses.
-
I cannot see what else Pardew could of done. His main option Saga was away, his new signing's loan was held up by the Italian FA so had to go with his third choice. That third choice missed a glorious chance by not hitting it, he also missed his kick from 8 yards with the goal at his mercy. At half-time he made changes - Mills who many had called for wide left, Lallana right. Paterson off - Thomson wide right - Lallana up fron that many cry out for. We go 3-5-2 Perry off and Schneideling on. We have no other striker available. Lambert everytime he moves has a great big lump all over him and no protection from a ref who refuses to see it. So thats at least 5 tactical changes Pardew made and he still gets slated.

This would be the Charlton who stuck with a manager for 20 games without a win yet we have on here people having a go after 6!
