Nowhere in any of my posts did I say it was entertaining or thrilling! I have been away on holiday but saw the Millwall game on tv in the Lake District surrounded by Millwall fans and 2 other Saints which wa fun ;-) so yesterday was my first live game. What I do see though is improvement in the players we had last season and start of this. We do need points and quick but we have improved as a team and I believe in time we will see this turn into results. In a post the other day you said we would struggle until Christmas then push on why change after one game?

Yet Hammond was miles better than Wotton, Harding had a good game, Lambert won nearly every header and set up the goal, Trotman had a good game and we never conceded from set pieces. At half time we bought on Saga and Thomson who has pace and width ! You just love revelling in this ****e dont you...why do you never ever look for any positives.

Did Charlton bring in the coaching Dutch revolution method that practically destroyed the confidence and ability of its players? If you want proof look at yesterday who were the worst performers? Funny that all the good players yesterday were players that AP has bought in...he has had how many weeks to sort out this mess? Charlton had Parkinson in charge for half of last season plus a full pre-season. Judge AP and this team in 2 months.

Thanks for that at least someone else isn't slitting their wrists yet, there were so many positives from the game yet those get hidden by the armchair warriors and serial whingers. Hammond looks light years ahead of Wotton, Trotman was as you say attacking the ball from set pieces, Lambert looks absolute quality in the air and we need wingers to feed him not our goalie. AP was critisised heavily after Swindon for his lack of subs yet made the right 2 yesterday - its not his fault that the person he puts on fails to show what he does week in week out in training and the reserves yet steps into the first team and plays like a rabbit in headlights. We need pace and width and have to give AP the chance to do that we are still work in progress. We have suffered years of crap and sub standard signings and youth being ruined by being pushed up too early AP has shown to me already that he has bought in far better players so its time and patience.

If the DOF can bring in 2 great lumps who can actually defend they will get my vote! Why is it no manager apart from Pearson who got in Lucketti can see this? For nearly 5 years we have failed to address the centre half issue in our team - its no good bringing in ball playing individual youngsters if we never have the ball in the first place!

But then the midfielders/full backs should actually be in a position to receive it and want it in the first place . Although there were many occasions we pushed everyone up and then gave the ball to the full back from the goal kick who then had no-one with 20 yards of him or any pace to get by anyone either last season.

I did the Man Utd tour the other day whilst up here and saw some Prem managers arrive for a meeting, Moyes, Pulis, Big Sam, Fergie and McLeish who I spoke to about Jaidi. He said AP had called him and that he thought he was definately joining us and that he would still like him. He did say that his legs were not up to a high dividion but he would do a great job for us.

The one big problem is that now everyone knows a deal is likely soon so will push other clubs into action. We may not get him and end up like Stern John and missing a good signing.

I rated Andy Bishop from Bury when we played against them the other year. Has a good record of goals in this division but has had knee problems and out with hernia op ....seems ideal to keep Pulis and Thomas company!
