Would make a few changes to the midfield for today if I was Pardew, I think that was where the game was lost on Saturday. Davis James Perry Thomas Harding Millas Gillett Schneiderlin Gobern Lallana Lambert Hopefully Millas and Lallana can swap positions during the game and if it isn't working out it's pretty easy to bring on Paterson and go two upfront. Maybe consider Mills or Holmes instead of Gobern if fully fit.
-
Hope he's as good as people on here expect, the midfield against Huddersfield just had nothing at all, no width, no energy, nothing going forward and nothing to help out the defense just four player who didn't have a clue what to do. Even with Hammond we're still two midfielders away from a decent midfield four/five. We just can't rely on any of our wingers and James and Lallana shouldn't be shifted out wide ever again, we need pacey players who are good on the ball out wide, leave Lallana and James in the middle.
-
Lallana, Paterson, Saganowski, Lambert and Rasiak. I'd say that's probably better than the majority of CCC attack forces. I can't see both the Poles going, at least one will stay because teams will refuse to pay their wages and they won't be happy to take a drop in pay.

PM?

We always had Lambert back defending but there was always one on the halfway line usually Paterson or Lallana.
-
Lack of pace everywhere. That's the reason i'd like to see Gobern plays, he's quick and not afraid to run at players. Maybe not a great idea for an away game against a decent side though.

Perry in for Olly and Gobern in for Wotton. Play Lallana on the right, James in the middle and Gobern on the left.

Dont think i'll be playing Sundays anymore. Football three times a week was just too much and there's footy back on the tv on Sundays now. -
Quite happy with Lallana, James, Thomson and McLaggon on the right. Not happy with Holmes (lucky to play 10 times this season), Mills (fullback) and Gobern (too raw) on the left. Do agree that we need a winger though, it's the main thing we seem to be lacking at the moment pace and width.
-
We need a quick traditional left winger who can chip in with a few goals and stay out wide and we need a strong centre back. An attacking midfielder who can get a few goals would be good as well but it will be hard to find a midfielder like that who works well in a 4-4-2 alongside Schneiderlin, if we could get Schneiderlin playing further up the field getting in to the box and scoring a few goals that would be perfect.
-
We need him on the bench as an impact sub, we're really lacking someone with his sort of pace.
-
Which Kilmarnock midfielder? think i've missed that thread. Please say he's a winger...
-
We need proper widemen, it's clear for everyone to see. James and Lallana aren't wingers and shouldn't be played there. We would have been better off playing the Wotte diamond yesterday, would have been far more effective. Either that or play Gobern and Thomson on the wings so we can actually threaten in midfield. If we had someone high up the pitch in a wide area Schneiderlin would be able to find them every time he got his head up and we'd be on the attack, as it was yesterday we where far too one dimensional and it didn't help that we took of Patterson and went with five in the middle and still no width, we should have stuck Lallana up with Saga if Paterson had to come off. Playing for a draw yesterday was the wrong thing to do, we should never be doing that at St Marys.

Steven Gerrard tried his hardest to join Chelsea two summers in a row, he even put in a transfer request at one point after Liverpool rejected a 32m bid. I think in the end Liverpool offered him the 110k p/w he wanted and he stayed.

Official player of the year? Simon Gillett How many penalties in the league will Davis save? 2 Most goals we will score in a league match? 4 Our final league position? 5 What round of the F A Cup we will reach? 3rd

Quality player. We need to do all we can to keep hold of him, Paterson and Lallana they're the three with the most potential in our squad imo. Really glad he stuck with us and didn't go to Scunny.

I understand what you're saying and agreee with nearly all of it, think we just have a difference of opinion on a few things mainly Paterson and Gobern who will both be great for us this season, I know you don't agree but from what i've seen they're both very talented. Think we can all agree we will need a proven goalscorer or two if Rasiak and Saga leave. we badly need some cover at centre back, a decent experienced central midfielder and we need a winger or two. Just hope we can get a couple of players in before Milwall and the rest in before the deadline passes.
-
You really don't rate some of our youngsters highly enough. How come Mills is ready to be part of our squad but Paterson and Gobern aren't? They all seem to be at a similar level imo and all have the same sort of experience. All three of those are more than ready to be part of our squad and i'd probably still have them as part of the CCC squad if we wheren't relegated, Paterson has been a real class act in pre season. Then there are the next tier of youngsters who may or may not be ready, Thompson, White, Lancashire and McLaggon who may not be ready yet and probably shouldn't be included but they can probably all do a job as cover. I also don't really see any point in just assuming someone like Saga or Rasiak will leave, doesn't seem to be much interest in them currently so I think we will start the season with them here. I think James would be much more use in the centre than as a right winger, I don't really understand why so many talk him up as a winger, he can cross a ball and has a decent engine but he's far too slow to be effective. Play him through the middle or as cover for Murty and he will excell. We either need to play Lallana every game inside right or pick up an old fashion right winger with a bit of pace. Personally i'd like to see Lallana and Murty as our right side, think it's very balanced and will stop us getting over run in the middle by teams playing 4-5-1. As for your last paragraph, I don't think you really read my post at all, I said one of the main signings we needed was a central midfielder and a left winger..... I don't think you're wrong as such in saying we need players I just think you really underate some of our youngsters Paterson and Gobern in particular or maybe i'm just over rating a few of them.
-
With the right ten players we'd be able to compete in the CCC. Especially when you consider we've actually got a proper manager now who hasn't got his hands tied by his chairman. I'd still like to know which ten positions you think need strengthening.
-
We're in a different league now, we're 10 players away from having a solid Championship side. If we want to really kick on this season which we should then IMO we need a creative midfielder, a left winger, two centre backs and Murty signed up then any first teamers who leave replaced. That's still five players we're going to need in before Septemeber, ideally then we can use loans to cover injuries. Davis, Bart and Forecast Murty and James Harding, Mills and Molyneux Perry, Thomas, Lancashire and two new centre backs Thompson, McLaggon and Lallana Mills, Holmes and new left winger Gillett, Schneiderlin, Wotton, James, Gobern and new centre mid Rasiak, Saga, Lallana and Paterson Not really sure what other five positions you think we need to fill? That squad leaves us with a lot of cover for every position with some real quality for league one.
-
Paterson, Gobern, Saga, Thomas etc Stop being such a drama queen, we're in now way near as bad a position as some people on here are trying to make out.
