  1. If we're going to bring in a striker then hopefully it's a BWP type player who can make an impact from the bench. There's no point breaking up the front four of Mellis, Lallana, Waigo and Lambert. It took Mellis a little while but he's starting to look the part now, hopefully he can get a bit of consistency and convert a couple of chances.
  2. Anyone know of a good place to park for Southend? also how long should I leave to get there? I don't want to be waiting around long before so getting there at 7ish would probably be ideal. Was going to go on the train and spend the day up there but been really ill and had to spend the last 2 days in hospital so think it's probably best I drive up now. Still feel really rough but should hopefulyl be ok tomorrow.
  3. Anyone up for a few games today or tonight? I'm pretty much stuck at home for a while ill, just been discharged from hospital and need to kill some time. my gamertag is ThePortski, feel free to add me if you want a few easy wins ...
  4. James is worth having in the team just for his set piece delivery, it's been a long time since I've seen a Southampton corner taken so well and when we've got players like Lambert, Jaidi, Trottman etc a decent corner can cause all sorts of problems. His delivery was a class above what Lallana's been doing recently. Wotton was superb today, for me he didn't put a foot wrong and was our best defensive player. He's never going to be as good on the ball as Schneiderlin but he kept things ticking over, got stuck in and used the ball relatively well. Lallana is starting to look like the player we'd all hope he would become after that goal against West Brom. Everyone knows he's got ability but he's finally starting to get into the box and use his tricks and turns in the right space and getting the goal he deserves. The formation suits him down to the ground and he's showing signs that he could be a top player for us. Lambert and Waigo are both starting to click as well, in the second half Waigo looked really promising he's starting to grow in to the side and showed a bit more of his pace, one he's match fit he'll be an assett. The defence seemed solid enough, Harding seemed to give their right winger far too much space but always managed to get over in time so can't fault him for that. Hammon and Wotton really shielded the defence well which always helps. I can't really fault anyone today, I don't know how Kelvin got lobbed on his goal line but he done well enough for the rest of the game. Even Mellis looked decent and I'm not a fan of his at all. All in all a great performance all round, if we play like that on Friday we've got the three points in the bag. A bit of consistency will be key now, no need to change that side at all even if Mills and Morgan are fit again.

  6. It's quite scary to think after ten games we're pretty much in the same position we started the season in, 10 points from safety. Really worried about this season, hopefully we can get a couple of wins and things will start looking a bit less worrying.
  7. I've done 27 so far. Not all of them have been to watch Saints though, went to Anfield to watch my mate play for Havant in their cup run, wasn't fun being sat around a bunch of skates. Southend, Oldham, Orient and Chelsea all getting ticked off this month.
  8. Looks like Southend Vic isn't that much further away than Prittlewell, probably get the train to there and go back from Prittlewell after.
  9. Cheers Steve. Just checked on trainline and that said the same 77 quid for 4 to Prittlewell. I thought we might have needed an extra ticket for the last part. Might just go to Southend Victoria and make a day of it, probably get there for 1ish.
  10. Are there many places to drink near the ground if you get off at Prittlewell? Heard it was better to get off at Soutend Victoria, not sure how far away that is compared to Prittlewell. Also does the group saver to London cover the Stratford to Prittlewell part of the journey?
  11. There was no one out wide right covering him and he's not the quickest player ever, could have been in all sort of trouble if he kept hitting the byeline. Need to wingers out wide with Lallana just off Lambert, if we set the team out like that we'd be fine and the full backs would have more cover so they could get into more advanced areas. Mellis and Lallana just aren't cut out to play on the wing. I think Waigo is more of a striker than a winger as well although it might just take him a while to get settled in before we see his best performances.
  12. Mellis isn't our player...
  13. I thought he had a good game. I don't understand the need to criticise our players at every oppurtunity, we had some **** poor performances last night and Lambert wasn't even close to being one of the worst. Kelvin Davis, Dean Hammond and Dan Harding where all a lot worse, I like the three of them as players and think they've been good for us this season but they didn't play well at all last night imo. Mellis can go back to Chelsea as well, has he done anything good for us this season?
  14. He was like a gangly BWP really. Our fans really need to stop getting excited about players before they've kicked a ball for us, puts too much pressure on the lads. Could see some potential in Waigo just hope he can adapt to the league.
  15. Davis Thomas - Jaidi - Trottman - Harding Lallana - James - Hammond - Mills Waigo - Lambert Quite a solid looking team, always got Saga and Holmes on the bench who can change the game quite a bit. Always nice to have decent options coming off the bench, that was one of our biggest problems at the start of the season now we have decent cover all over the pitch apart from goal really.
  16. Yeah i am coming to Oldham, thanks.
  17. Nice pictures
  18. Think this will be my next away game, can't wait now. Reckon we will still take a few despite it being a Friday.
  19. I quite like the Katie Price programme. Sorry
  20. Dont think he's worth anything over about 400k, saying that we paid 1.2m for Thomas so going by that we will probably sign him for about 7m.

Can't believe I missed all the fun, the phone call from bellows at 11 o'clock on Saturday was quite funny. Poor show for falling asleep and missing 2 Many DJ's, they where quality at glasto.
  22. My post did say only sell them if there where alternatives available. He's an ok player at this level, nothing special and on Championship wages. He wouldn't be anywhere near the team if Murty hadn't got injured. He's just a bully with hardly any ability.
  23. Pulis, Forecast and Molyneux should be the first out the door but there's no chance anyone will sign any of them. We've got another four years of Forecast to look forward to. I'd loan out Gobern, White and Lancashire, I think with a bit more first team experience those three could be good enough for the first team in a few years. I'd probably sell Saganowski, Thomson, Thomas and Holmes if there where decent alternatives we could bring in.
  24. Bit of a dissapointing performance, we just don't have the players to play 4-5-1. Maybe with Waigo and Holmes we could play 4-5-1 effectively, yesterday we didn't have anyone breaking from midfield getting into the box and ended up leaving Lambert far too isolated, he won't be scoring goals if he's stuck upfront on his own. The left side looked good with Mills and Harding, no idea why we brought on Mellis I felt we should have got another striker on at that point and really gone for it leaving it until added time to bring on Waigo was a bit defeatist as well, we shouldn't be playing for draws. If we could get a bit more width and balance on the right hand side we could play Lallana through the middle and then the 4-5-1 might actually work.. Really need to start picking up points and I don't think we're going to be winning many playing 4-5-1 leaving Lambert with no support. Hopefully we will go back to 4-4-2 for Yeovil with Waigo, Saga and Jaidi all starting.
  25. I think a 4-5-1 is the way forward against Charlton, not sure which three from Lallana, Hammond, Schneiderlin, James and Gillett should play in the middle though. Really suprised Gillett hasn't been mentioned once in this thread, at the start of the season he would have been in 90% of teams. I'd still like to see him play ahead of James, especially if we're playing with five in midfield. At least then we've got Saga and Paterson on the bench if we need to change the game and get a goal or two.
