  1. Been saying for a while that we need him in the side just for his set piece delivery. It makes such a change to have someone competent taking the corners and free kicks. Surman and Lallana's where terrible last season. He's really improving as a right back, you can see an improvment in every game. Good to have an accademy product come into the side and improve over a couple of seasons to the point he's a first team regular ahead of someone like Thomas.
  2. No, I think he needs a loan move to find his level while he bulks up a bit....
  3. He's no way near as bad as some of you like to make out. First red card was quite unfortunate as it was on his debut and the second one won us a point. He's far too weak to be playing centre half and needs a bit of experience before he will be good enough for us. He's probably the one player who suffered the most from being thrown in at the deep end last season.
  4. I haven't been looking forward to a home game this much for a very long time. 2-0 Lambert and James.
  5. Pretty **** weather to make his kids sit outside in!
  6. It's obvious how we're playing a flat four at the back with Wotton just in front. Hammond is the box to box midfielder with Schneiderlin as the more advanced of the three central midfielders. Waigo is wide right giving us width and Lallana is playing from the left getting into the box whenever he can with Lambert as the lone striker. The only debate is wether it's 451, 4231, 433 etc which is all pretty pointless really.
  7. S****horpe where raving about him after he played three months for them at left back in this league. He's as good as we're going to get as cover in this league and he's a youngster who will hopefully get better. I don't think LB is a problem at all. Our priority has to be getting rid of all the **** that fills out our squad if we can find someone to take any of them.
  8. Who's going to play left wing? .... Hammond? Picking a side isn't about sticking the best 11 players on the pitch it's about finding the correct balance.
  9. I think far too good for this division is pushing it somewhat, he's obvious a good player and a bit of a coup but I do think at least for a while 4-5-1 will be the way forward. We can't rush or expect too much from Connolly too soon, he probably won't be at full fitness untill after Christmas imo. Maybe 4-5-1 away from home and against the better sides at home and a straight 4-4-2 against the bottom half teams at home will how it works out. Either way it's nice to have options and a manager who knows more than one system. I won't be complaining how ever we line up, I just think it will be 4-5-1 for a while yet.
  10. Our 4-5-1 has been far from defensive and cautious. We're basically attacking with 5 sometimes 6 if one of the full backs gets forward. Why change a winning formula? I can understand changing it around if Lallana is injured but otherwise there's no point changing anything.
  11. Something wrong if you would take a point at home in this league considering our current form. We should go into every single game looking to win and win comfortbly. I'd be dissapointed if we draw on Saturday.
  12. Lambert by a country mile. Was pretty ****ed off when Stern John didn't sign for us but Lambert is twice the player John is and his ability to play the lone striker role has really improved us as a team. Gives us a different dimension to most teams, you don't get many target men that get 20+ goals a season and link the play so well, the complete striker. If we had signed Lambert when we sold Kenwnye Jones we would probably still be in the Championship, he's far too good to be playing football in League One and hopefully soon he will be banging them in for us in the CCC.
  13. AFC Wimbledon, Eastleigh or Totton away would be my top 3 picks. Failing that any league two side away other than Cheltenham or Bourenmouth. I'd probably be happy with any draw so long as it's not a league one club at home.
  14. Surely we'd have to change the team quite a lot if Connolly came in for Lallana. I doubt Connolly could just play the wide left position in the same way Lallana does and I can't see Schneiderlin, Wotton or Hammond playing from the left if we shifted to 4-4-2. If Lallana is unfit I'd rather see Mellis come in for Lallana and stick to the 4-5-1 that's served us so well leaving Connolly on the bench to change the game if we need a goal.
  15. We won't switch to 442. It's pretty simple.
  16. Most important thing is to sign up the loan players either permanently or look to extend the deals. Then it's a case of getting rid of a few Forecast, Molyneux, Pulis, Holmes, Gillett, Saga, Perry and Poke. Then maybe loan a few out Gobern, White, Lancashire and thomson. after all that i'd look to bring in a more coltured holding midfielder, rest of the teams fine.
  17. good work from the club as usual
  18. I'm pretty sure we where supposed to have a reserve game on Monday night but there wasn't any mention if it anywhere and looks like it was postponned. guess that's why they played this one.
  19. Murty at right back and James playing Wottons role. Need Lloyd James in there for his setpiece delivery, far more suited to a midfield place and Murty will give the defence a bit more experience.
  20. All the goals seemed to be against the run of play. Don't get me wrong I was chuffed to see Totton win but they didn't really deserve to go 3 up. Bridgewater played the better football just couldn't finish, where Totton seemed far more clinical.
  21. Looking back now I think the same but after that game I was really quite down, it was like Pardew just didn't have a clue.
  22. We will get a League one side away. We never seem to get any interesting cup draws. An away game against a non league side would be quality, all the better if they're local. Indeed, Bridgewater really should have won.
  23. When we lost to Swindon. It felt like Pardew had no idea where the club was going or any idea how to turn it round. He didn't seem like he could change the game or that he was even bothered. I really thought we would be in for a long hard season after that performance. Luckily we went a signed a few important player not long after and Pardew managed to turn things around.
  24. He offers the team nothing. Isn't prolific, doesn't hold up the ball and he's isn't quick at all. He does have a decent work ethic but that's about it and we could stick anyone upfront and tell them to chase every ball, someone like Saga promised a lot more he just doesn't have the right attitude. Compare his performances over the last year or so with how he played for Poland in the Euro's was like watching a different player. After him apparently refusing to play against Forest we should have got rid asap.
  25. Lambert, Lallana, Waigo and Connolly should all get double figures if stay free from injury.
