  1. I think there are several small problems leading to a leaky defence rather than any glaring problem. - The lack of a holding midfielder in recent games, Schneiderlin and Hammond don't screen the defence properly. - The holding midfielders we do have are either not good up to the job (Wotton) or playing right back. (James) - Harding is left exposed at times because Lallana drifts inside, I think he's told to do this by the coaching staff but it does leave Harding exposed against sides which really attack with there right back and right winger. - Our centre backs are all quite slow. - Our centre backs while playing 4-4-2 feel the need to hoof the ball at every oppurtunity and we fail to keep possesion. - Too many luxury players in the same team, I don't think there is currently room for both Lallana and Schneiderlin in the same side. I don't mean to be negative I think we're playing really good football at the moment and the problems I listed are really only small things which shouldn't take much to correct. The Brighton game was probably just a bit of complacency we haven't become a terrible side over night and don't need to make huge changes. When Murty is back fit and we can move James into midfield and play 4-5-1 again I think we will start conceeding a lot less goals. For me our best XI with everyone fit would be: --------- Davis Murty Jaidi Trottman Harding ---- James - Hammond Antonio - Lallana - Waigo -------- Lambert With players like Schneiderlin, Connolly and Mellis on the bench to change things around. I really think our whole squad apart from Connolly is more suited to 4-5-1 and he isn't really worth building the team around. He looks at his best as an impact sub anyway imo so leave him benched and let him play the last 30-45 minutes every week and give him a run out in the cups.
  2. Next to Sainsburys.
  3. Really hope we go back to our 4-5-1 with either Waigo, Mellis or Wotton coming in for Connolly. Even against Bristol Rovers we didn't look great playing 4-4-2. 4-5-1 just gives us so many more options to change the game around and I think the 4-4-2 encourages our players to hoof it straight upfront.
  4. James puts in a cracking corner, before this season we hardly ever scored from corners and now we've scored four I think (Jaidi, Hammond, Lambert and Thomas) that's a very good return from corners. Just because they didn't come off yesterday doesn't mean they're bad corners. For whats it's worth I thought LLoydy was one of our better performers yesterday. Can't see Murty getting into the side easily.
  5. Costs me £120 for four return train tickets to Birmingham New Street. Got them a while ago though, guess it's gone up since then. I looked at Exeter on thetrainline.com and I think it came to £80 for four going via Salisbury.
  6. atdhe, iraqgoal, fsicrew.info, justintv there are loads of places
  7. My first away game was Dellhurst park game in 99 I would have been 13 at the time. Seems a lot longer than 10 years ago!
  8. Bye - home draw - home draw - home draw. Couldn't really have asked for it any easier.
  9. He's just trying to be funny because I was dying in hospital that day and he had to go to the Torquay game on his own. Still got my ticket here \o/
  10. Shame we have to wait a month for our next piece of JPT action.
  11. I think that's just goal.com making a story out of nothing, pretty sure he's talking about international retirement?
  12. Anything but Norwich away and i'd be happy. We wouldn't take many fans there for a midweek game and they're a well supported decent enough side, would be tricky to get through. We should do them in a two legged tie.
  13. When you buy a ticket from the window they ask for your name, postcode etc and put you on the system if you're a first time buyer.
  14. Would have guess Chris Perry. Not suprised that's it's Lloydy though, he seemed to play pretty much the whole of last season apart from the few games he was suspended for. Hopefully he's the sort of player that can spend the majority of his career here, he's improved so much in a short space of time and he still seems to be getting better now he's playing with a higher standard of player and a more confident team.
  15. Thanks for the offer, think it's probably best if I give Hartlepool a miss though.
  16. Luton took 40k last season, i'd imagine we'd be able to get a similar amount of fans.
  17. Massive game for us. If we beat Leeds away then I'll be in for a good Christmas, my mum's side of the family are all Leeds fans so should be interesting.
  18. Been to every game apart from Torquay and Carlisle. Went to Cheltenham, Bournemouth, Totton and Eastleigh pre season as well which where all pretty poor. Was probably most impressed with our performance against Southend or maybe Oldham. Best atmosphere was probably Southend as well. I'll probably do most of the rest of the games apart from Hartlepool, got the time off work for it but just not sure it's worth the effort on a Tuesday night. Really looking forward to Leeds, that should be a cracking game if both sides are still in form.
  19. Alan Bennett and Chris Makin start as our two centre halfs. Burley should have just been sacked then. Those two made Scowcroft look like Didier Drogba, one of the more depressing Saints games. So glad that era is behind us.
  20. Your attempt to get this started last night was an embarassment.
  21. 9.30 train from soton central which came to £26. Quite looking forward to this as it's a new ground, sounds a bit like Reading away though shouldn't be too hard to find a pub near the station if there aren't any near the ground. Really hope we progress, watching the FA cup third round draw without Southampton in there would be depressing.
  22. If Schneirderlin is unfit i'd play Thomas at right back and move James into midfield, if Connolly isn't fit then play Mellis and go 4-5-1. Says a lot that without two top players like Schneiderlin and Connolly we still look like having a really strong starting eleven.
  23. Sign a centre back who can pass the ball out from defence, sign Antonio and extend Mellis' loan spell. Maybe look at signing a young target man to cover Lambert, guess that depends on how Pardew rates Paterson. Don't think we need to do much more than that, could cause problems if we sign players we don't need.
  24. Norwich will be a massive test. If we can beat them then i'd say we're probably the best team in the league. Best team i've seen us play this season is still Huddersfield but I think that may be something to do with Perry, Thomas and Lancashire being given the run around, I doubt they would look so good against our team now. So long as we keep our momentum going all season we should get play offs, just need to make sure we don't lose two in a row or go 2-3 games without winning. That's what would kill our play off chances any sort of dip in form.
  25. Doubt i'd bother going to MK Dons or Norwich away so that leaves Hereford away or anyone at home. Ideally we'd get Norwich or Dons at home and then Hereford in the Area final.
