Whilst the people who may have certian the club was being assert stripped to be sold might have been proved wrong, I don't think he people who backed the board 100% can get all smug if we make if we have made a few big signings. Despite what Ralph says, the time to judge the transfer policy wont be sep 1st but at the end of the season. Only then we people be able to be smug and say i told you so.

You'll be lucky. Nothing else worth posting on. Anyway your original point was proved pointless. Some rubbish leagues produce good national teams and some good leagues produce rubbish national leagues.

Almost worth paying the fiver to avoid the wait. If overanalysing it means trying to make a reasoned argument then guilty. However if you want a simple answer then OK; nothing you have said has shown the MLS is not a poor quality league that most people think it to be.

Yup, I can't argue all day either. I'm too cheap to afford more than the 3 posts. I don't think anyone in this thread wrote off someone's achievements just because they were in mls bar bwp, who only achieved success in league 1 here. I'm sure no one denies there are good players in mls, however, as whole it isn't as good a league. I'm also sure most, bar maybe the African nation's, teams in the world cup all had a large part of their team were produced by their home top league. It means very little. You could easily say the same about most of the countries that din't qualify. Over half of the current US squad and almost half the US team do not play in the mls now. Also another indicator at how good the quality is, is how many other country's internationals play in the MLS. Not very many. From what i've seen, people don't write off players just from what league they come from, but there is often a worry about whether they'll 'step up'. It's the same as buying players from lower English division or top nglish team buying players from us. Can they improve? People thought it about Wanyama last year and he showed he could. I'm sure Norwich fans were wondering it about Ricky Van Wolfswinkle (who joined from Portugal, another perceived weaker league) and he couldn't. There's nothing wrong with thinking some leagues are worse than others and worrying about whether good players from bad leagues can compete in better leagues.

Whether it produces players who are capable of performing at a world class level is irrelevant when you are comparing standards of football played in the league. You yourself said the English league is better quality. Discussing which league produces more world class players is a completely separate argument. And tbh I'd still take the prem team of English players over the mls team of Americans. Only 11 of the 23 players in the world cup squad came from mls, and only 6 of the starting 11 from their last 16 match against Belgium.
-
How the respective national teams did in the world cup is irrelevant. If that was an all star MLS team, how would they fair against an all star premier league team? And not in a one off game.

I expect there to be an announcement today naming the 2 players we signed over the weekend. Otherwise I doubt they were signed over the weekend.

What a player/manager/chairman says in an interview is proof of absolutely nothing other than how skilled they are at PR.

Same could be said about a season ticket. Some people like wearing shirts and this year at least 1 person doesn't think think they're any good. No need to be a wum.

Phillips for the way he left. Although what he said is pretty tame now when compared to this summer. Rod Wallace for claiming he left because we didn't look after Ray, but as soon as both joined Leeds, Ray got worse treatment than we ever gave him.

Two question that those crucifying the board need to answer
oldskoolsi replied to Rasiak-9-'s topic in The Saints
You can't force a player to stay but if you show genuine intent to improve (not just fan pandering statements) by getting a known manger to replace the departing one (which we did), signing current players to bigger contracts (which we haven't done bar Harrison reed I think) and buying new new players, not just to replace departing ones but to improve the squad (which we haven't done) then they will be less likely to want to leave. -
Could SISU be cutting their loses with Cov and coming back to their original choices?

About 10 years and 9 stone ago I was briefly glimpsed in a video someone did of the Saints forever Fleming park Sunday meet ups so if there is youtube evidence of my talents, i must be good.

According to wki Koeman has ( ignoring tin pot trophies i.e Charity shield equivalents) 3 Dutch titles, 1 Dutch cup and 1 Spanish cup. When he joined us, Souness had 3 Scottish titles, 1 FA cup and 1 Turkish cup. He also won 3 Scottish league cups which could be considered pretty noddy. Other than that, pretty similar, maybe better.

And yet it still seems to be those faces that get dragged out by the media when they want the 'fan's view'.

Believing in something makes absolutely no difference to how good he did his job. Hitler and Gandhi both stuck to their guns without looking at their career. You can't use that to judge, only look at the outcomes.

If people think those twitter trolls are being offensive, report them. It will do more good than moaning on here about what people are saying on twitter.

I agree with the first part of the post entirely and that exactly why we shouldn't be panicking about lack of activity. Last season the management team was secure and knew exactly what we were looking for. This season we have a new manager who will naturally want to access the team himself and work out strengths and weaknesses, despite what any transfer committee might do. On top of that, finding the lower level hungry young players with the right attitude takes more time than just plucking out top name signings that might join us. no doubt last year, work was already in place before the end of the 2012-13 season to prepare for the 2013-14 season. This season we haven't been as fortunate and i would prefer to see time taken to get the right players. Mind you if we haven't signed anyone just before transfer deadline day then i might be worried.

I'd say Osvaldo and ramirez were players we had been chasing all summer and the only reason they were late signings was because they wanted to see if there were better offers. The fact that Osvaldo took a pay cut to go on loan suggests money was not an issue for him signing for us and I don't think it was for Ramirez too. I think we offered clubs enough money to buy them from too. i just don't think they were that keen on joining us. I do think if players stall so long to see if there are better offers then we should definitely not buy them as they are clearly not interested in Saints. As for Mayuka and Yoshida, I don't think they were first choice picks but only came through because other deals fell down. In an ideal world all our business would be done early but unfortunately life is not like that. I'm sure we are doing all we can to sign players and as long as we don't adopt the Tottenham way then i'm happy.

According to Wiki this is when we signed players last summer: 14 June Dejan Lovren 11 July Victor Wanyama 18 August Dani Osvaldo and the year before 1 July Jay Rodriguez 6 July Steven Davis 19 July Nathaniel Clyne 20 July Paulo Gazzaniga 28 August Emmanuel Mayuka 30 August Maya Yoshida 31 August Gastón Ramírez So, going on that, I don't think we should expect to have all our dealings done in any way but it would be nice to have 1 by now to get get excited about.

Wouldn't surprise me if it was King due to his injuries and not being able to train properly rather than anything else. Most likely Rednapp making mountains though.

I do have a bit of sympathy for Luke, every woman he meets, he'll have to worry about whether she justs wants to sell her story to get famous. We'll never know exactly what happened and she was probably in the pay of the newspaper for a while. i have no problem if she chooses to spend her life that way as long as i can call her what she is a; a prostitute.

I think it was called the Southampton way as a tribute to our tradition of focussing on bringing through youth players. Nothing sinister about it and I'm actually glad it is almost a brand name because hopefully it will help influence young players to join us as they might buy into the (justified) media hype that we know how to handle them.

Seemed pretty sensible to me. When everyone thought AL was guaranteed a place and the last spot was between Wellbeck and Sterling, ITV did a poll between the 2 that Sterling won. When the rumours started that Sterling was playing in place of Lallana, they decided to see if people agreed with that decision. Most people preferred Sterling over Lallana. Maybe they'll do Lallana v Wellbeck or Lambert v Rooney for the next games.

I likes the showboating of the Costa Rican goalie, Navas. I'd like to see our tradition of having slightly less than sane goalies continue.
