I'm not really concerned about them. I don't really consider them rivals, but after seeing their arrogance on various forums, it was so sweet beating them today.

Fantastic performance from him today. MUST start next week, even if Killer and Pearce are both available. Reads the game so well. Organised the defence fantastically and helped us dig in when Reading got a goal back. His experience is invaluable. He had a decent understaning with Cork and especially Skacel. A lot of Reading attacks game down our left second half, but those two covered each other brilliantly. Just thought I'd make a point of it as he really has turned the side around since he came on at halftime against Wolves..

I've just got home from the weirdest dream... Seriously though it was a fantastic team performance. Great to see BWP on the score sheet for the first time since Burley left. Everyone seemed to be working hard and a great atmosphere. I feared the worst when they got one back, but fair play to "the boysh". I couldn't believe how poor Reading were though. For the first hour until they scored, they were just nothing. Expecially in defence, they just seemed not to care. Their number 22 (CB) and goalie kept them in it. We could in all honnesty been 4 up at the break. After they got one back, things evened out a bit, but they still never really looked like getting a winner. As for the players: Davis - 7 Several good saves and f**k me if he didn't come out and catch some really tricky crosses. James - 7 I saw him for the reserves on Monday and he looked good then. Never though he'd be able to reproduce his performance in the first team though. Only downer was being out of possition for their goal. Cork - 7 Good solid display. Also felt he was a bit out of place for the first shot for their goal. Perry - 8 Probably my MOTM. We look so much more organised with him in the side and without Lancashire. Some crucial tackles. Skacel - 7 Reliable enough defensively. Corners are a bit suspect, but there were some good crosses, one of which would have brought a goal but for a great save. Lallana - 7 Not as effective as he has been in previous games, but still full of tricks and always running at defenders. Surman - 7 Good passing, if a little lightweight. Got forward well to support the attack. Schneiderlin - 7 Still doesn't impose himself on the midfield as much as I'd like. Made one decent tackle. Passing was generally excellent though. BWP - 8 First goal in ages, but worth the wait. Could have had a couple more but for some decent defending and a great save. Even managed to stay onside. It was almost tragic watching him take the p*ss out of Reading and thinking this is how good he can be, but 4/5 times he just isn't. DMG - 5 The only poor performance really. Just didn't seem to put much effort in. Can't remember having a really meaningful effort on goal either. One off target effort which BWP tried to overhead kick on target. Robertson - 6 Some good running and hard working. In the first half I thought he was looking for free kicks and penalties when he could have played on and made something of it. Faded second half. Subs: Paterson - 6 Had one good run on the counter down the left, just after he came on. Other than that, worked hard but with little produce. P.S. Sure as heck looked like 4-4-2 to me, with BWP and Lallana on the wings taking it in turn breaking forward to join the attack.

John has only really scored for us when Saga has been on the pitch (14 goals, compared to 5 when he isn't). John needs a hard working partner along side him and at the moment, we don't have anyone who fits the bill. Saga I believe can refind his scoring touch, if played in the correct way. I think his 3 goals this season so far would put him joint second in our scoring chart. He also puts pressure on the defence and would give us help in defending from the front.

I thought his head was a 50p? His feet are Toblerones

Looking forward to it. Even if we do get tonked, we're gonna take a good following. Hopefully we will be able to recreate the noise at my last away match, Charlton last season. I'd take that result (1-1) too.
-
If selling John means we can afford to bring Saga back, I'd take that any day.

I guess we will just have to agree to disagree on that. By that logic, you would have no expectations what-so-ever of players from the accademy or free transfers. Players like Rasiak, Skacel, John, Davis and Thomas have all proven themselves succesful to various extents and thus were offered lucrative contracts. You can't blame the players for accepting them. I also think part of the problem with Thomas last season was that he had 3 different guys along side him every match (not to mention 2 different 'keepers over the season). Last year I think we played around 18-20 different players in defence. Thomas was always going to play better along side some than others.

Vettel regrets Red Bull switch after testing 2009 spec' car.

All cars just seem to be the same colours. Appart from the Ferraris and McLarens, they're all either navy blue and/or white. BMW, Williams and Honda - Blue and white RBR and STR - Navy blue Toyota and Force India - White with a few red bits. Renault - Mostly white with yellow nose and orange a*se. I miss the days of yellow Jordans,Orange Arrows, blue and yellow Renault and British racing green Jags. -
I think Thomas, like Skacel and Davis, wasn't worth what we paid for him. But, like those two, that doesn't mean he isn't a decent enough player in this league. I'd say he was good enough physically to do the job Killer once did in the Prem. Not as good, but with a player like Perry sweeping up next to him HCDAJFU.

I think in the long run, Red Bull will be the way forward. I just wish RB and STR would use more varied colour schemes. Hard enough telling team-mates appart, unless one driver has a very distinctive helmet colour scheme. -
Was he? I only saw him take a few steps when he walked up behind us. Oh well. No crutches, so I guess that's a good thing.

Looks like we're slowly getting our revenge against Derby. First the Pride Park game, now this. That article describes him as "an imposing figure" who "likes to head and kick the ball clear"... see it's not just our OS that can publish complete bulls**t.

Hardly a 300ft drop. More like a 300ft slide, and it looked f**king good fun too.

I spoke to Wayne on Tuesday. He seemed upbeat about his chance and appeared to be walking fine. When asked about his recovery, his exactly words were, "hopefully in another couple of months". First choice centre half IMO. He was excellent for most games under Pearson, even if he did have a couple of off days.
-
TBH, I wouldn't have played him even if he was fit. He looked 5 yards off the pace for the reserves on Monday and that's really not what we need for a trip to Reading. Perry and Lancashire/Cork would be my answer.

IIRC thousands of Italian men used to try and get out of national service by pretending to be gay. Not sure what era this was, but I wonder if a couple of dosen MPs will suddenly come out the closet.

If it were, then surely the joke is even more disturbing than the reality. We have photographic evidence that this couple does infact exist. If it is a joke, then it just means someone else has a varied gallery of this couple's life. Either way, it gives me chills thinking about it.

Either that poster is the best photoshop artist I've ever seen, or that wedding did actually take place. Whether it is that poster though is impossible to prove.

Outclassed by Steven O'Halloran IMO. (He was playing for Swansea reserves the other night and still looked distinctly average.)

In short, they wanted lower aerodynamic drag from the front tyres, and the only way they could do that was by mking them smaller. The smaller tyres didn't produce enough grip, which lead to horrific understeer. To combat this Tyrell added a second pair just behind the front wheels. All four were capable of being steered. The problem was that the design was so unique that the tyre manufacturer (can't remember which one) didn't bother developing the smaller front tyres, which noone else used, which would have made any further developments of the car uncompetitive. I think the P34 won one race, a 1-2 finnish. Can't remember the drivers tho.

Mistakes. I used to work with a guy who said as you get more experienced, you don't make fewer mistakes, but you do recognise and correct them quicker. I think that is applicable here. When a move goes wrong and we give away possesion, we need experienced players who will react quickly and organise the team to prevent us conceding.

Younger generation, I'm going for Bridgey aswell. Either him or Olivier Bernard.

This guy's got the right idea

Arsenals young stars may be good for a one off game against a very average Wigan side, but can you imagine them playing a full season in the Prem? Teams like Bolton and Stoke would kick the living crap out of them. I doubt they'd finish midtable. Age is always going to be an issue for these guys and mistakes are being made through lack of experience. If we are to have any chance this season, we are going to need Wotton, Perry, Davis, Skacel and Euell to ALL play a part in the team. With the exception of Lallana, I felt the last 4 players were our best on Saturday. I never felt they were about to make a mistake and drop us in it.
