I fear you are tragically far from the truth. Powell was, I believe, offered an extension to his existing 2 year deal whilst recovering from the injury he recieved a couple of months after joining us. IIRC, the recovery took about a year, during which time Claus also got injured on the opening day of the playoff season. This left us with a lack of quality and cover at the back for several months. I am not sure if Powell was offered the extension before or after either of them had recovered, or if indeed, Burley had seen Powell play at all. This is slightly beside the point. Powell was offered a new deal during the playoff season at some point when we were still under the illusion of being loaded. Powell had joined from Palace (fresh from a season in the Prem) and was unlikely to be earning peanuts. I'm also pretty certain he wouldn't have take a pay cut to join us.

Of all the players I've seen in a Saints shirt, he was the least tallented, and I saw Davenport and Bernard against Villa. Ridiculous injury record aside, he is slow, can't head, can't pass and his possitioning is terrible. Anyone who went to Hull last year will have seen him at his very worst. The surprise wasn't that it took 5 months to find a club, more that it wasn't a League 2 club he ended up at.

Are we likely to see any more departures for financial reasons and are they likely to be replaced?

I remember in the opening credits to the 2006 Cup final, they had a clip of our goal against Utd and the commentary of, "and Southampton go mad" in the background. Think that might have been something to do with the 30 year anniversary though, or possibly because it was shortly after Ossy passed away.

Oops, spelled that a bit wrong. Unless of course goblin penetration is a common hobby on submarines.

I don't see why women are allowed on ships, but not subs. I know on some US subs there are less bunks than seamen, is that the case here? I can understand if men and women were forced to share and swap quaters, it might create ethical issues, or is this rule simply because excess fornication is bad for moral?

3 generations of World Champions. That would be quite something.

Looks like were going to have a whole grid of famous names next season, what with Piquet, Rosberg and Senna possibly having drives. Any other old stalwarts got sons in lower competitions?
-
Good to see Alonso staying put. He should challenge for the title next year. Piquet I can take or leave. Been pretty disappointing IMO, but it was his first season.
-
As will Mills, Hatch, White, Lancashire and a couple of others, however at the moment I would have to say they aren't up to it.

It's a wind up, just like the 'Kelvin Davis is s**t' and 'ST holders are mugs' threads. If anyone has any further questions, please PM a member of the admin team. -
If we were to get investment, I wouldn't keep Jan and the only players from the current lot who'd be in my first team would be Lallana, Holmes, Skacel, Surman, Davis and possibly MS. DMG has chipped in with a couple of goals recently, but I am still not totally convinced he is up to this level. I'd have him in the squad, but I'd bring Rasiak and Saga back into the side ahead of him any day of the week. I think to stick with this experiment if we did have investment would be madness. We are going to be walking a tightrope over the drop zone all season with this team and it's not a prospect I am particularly looking forward to.

I'm sure there was something we agreed on once a while ago. Can't remember what it was though. Wasn't Skacel, Saganowski, Licka, Ostlund, Prutton, Wright...

I'd tend to disagree that WBA were better than Hull. In the first half of the season, but in the second half, they were by far the best side I've seen us play in the CCC. The 5-0 scoreline at the KC didn't flatter them. We were poor, but Hull really were excellent.

Arthritis? Cateracts? Incontinence? Who knows. Having said all that, I'd still have him in the team. My first choice defence at the moment would consist of Cork, Pearce and Mills, +1. Given that the other 3 are all teenagers, I'd have to put either Killer or Perry in there. Even if Killer is fit for the Bristol game, he looked 5 yards off the pace against Barnsley.
-
I've just had 3 (with Ketchup) not 15 minutes ago. I can confirm they are quite nice.
-
I'd go with: - - - - - - Davis Cork - Perry - Pearce - Mills Lallana - Surman - MS - Gobern - - - - - - - - Skacel - - - - - DMG Don't start BWP because whenever we do he is gash. Have him on the bench.

The season before it was Leeds, Wolves and Leicester who went down.

When I was in 'Nam, I once lost a whole platoon to Celine Dion records. It was a painful, drawn-out death. You may wish to reconsider.
