  1. When will people realise that Marcus isn't here to p*ss money up the wall like the guys at Man City and Pompey. Saints are being run as a business venture and part of that involved maximising our income. I think Marcus will take a very dim view if the team or Pardew took an attitude of 'we don't need the money' in any competition. IF we beat Luton and made it through a couple more rounds, the income from gates and prize money would pay for Dean Hammond. Could be wrong, but I'd have though the FA could have staff working new years day for such an occurance.
  2. Would never come here unless we are at least in the CCC, but can you imagine... Beatts and Lambert with Connolly coming off the bench. He has to be bordering on legendary status IMO. From the goal he scored at Dellhurst, all the goals he scored in the cup final season, 3 goals against Pompey, that celebration when he scored against them, then doing it again for Stoke last season. Then he scored a hattrick to beat Leicester and got "injured" before playing us for Sheff Utd 2 years ago. The noodle spoon and muffin incidents just make me laugh if I'm honnesy.
  3. It's all about the potential rewards compared to the likelyhood of winning them. I wouldn't put all our eggs in the promotion basket when we can make a lot of money and fun in the 2 cups we are still in. Hopefully we can bring in reinforcements in January so we wont have to prioritise games so much.
  4. Good luck with this one mate, however it pans out. Are there any rumours of staff cuts if this goes through?
  5. In an ideal world, Pards has a couple of signings lined up who are suitable replacements for Lambert, Hammond and Jaidi. If one or two of them were to join on the first, they could be registered in time for the FA Cup match. I'd play Mills instead of Harding if nothing else.
  6. It's all relative. I'm sure Man Utd would find winning the JPT a bit Micky Mouse, but for us it is genuinely exciting. I suppose it all depends on people's expectations and the level of success they're used to.
  7. Definitely enjoying it more than any other season since the cup final. Even in the playoff season there was always the feeling that we were badly underperforming. However, as has been said, there is always that voice at the back of your head saying, "it's only League One". Going to places like Oldham and Hartlepool and winning in front of 5,000 fans, whilst a refreshing change, just isn't Old Trafford. I'd be happy if we were a competitive CCC team for a few years, even if we didn't reach the Prem. League One just feels a bit too Micky Mouse, no disrespect to the other clubs in it.
  8. Simple. Wage capping, as standard accross Europe so no particular league suffers.
  9. Bringing in 4 players isn't beyond the realms of possibility, especially if we can shift a few of the duds on to another club. Pardew will have had a good five months to do his homework, no reason he shouldn't have targets lined up for ALL our weak spots.
  10. No, Mack Rill is implying that Delldays is firing blanks.
  11. Wonder if we'll ever get back to Kyalami. Africa will be the only continent (Great White **** All aside) not hosting a Grand Prix next season. The Poison Dwarf can't really claim world domination until he has a race in every continent.
  12. No idea.
  13. James is a promising midfielder but a poor RB. Murty is 35. Neither is a long term solution. If we don't get a younger, proper RB in we could be in danger of repeating our last 2 years in the Prem. Instead of Dodd and Telfer we have Murty and James. One minute everythings fine, but all of a sudden Dodd/Murty is old and injured and James/Telfer just isn't good enough. Personally I'd rather get in early and have someone pushing Murty for the RB. Rather than doing things the old Saints way, which is persevering with inadequate players for 6 months before admitting we have an issue. Same at CB. Jaidi and Perry may be okay now, but we need to be thinking of replacements for them now, then we don't have a problem next season. We don't want any more Wayne Thomas panic buys like we had 2 years ago.
  14. At the risk of being proven wrong and looking like a massive tool... I think "OK should be written as O.K." as it was originally an acronym. No idea what for though.
  15. I think we lack depth more than quality. Up front we have Connolly and Lambert, but other than that? Saga? Pato? We need another right back and centre half IMO. Also a defensive midfielder in the Pele mould.
  16. How about a track day or aerobatics lesson. Not on my list, but an idea.
  17. Grammar Nazi has a boner.
  18. I'm trying to think of other Far Eastern countries which would want to host a GP. Saudi Arabia maybe. Can't think of many others though. I think a Russian or African Grand Prix would be the next additions to the Calendar. As long as we keep Silverstone, Spa and Monza, I'm happy. I think Imola is on the way back at some point in the next few years.
  19. Harding may leave wingers space, but he is seldom beaten by them. I find it odd that people criticise him for standing off wingers. It's exactly what a full back should do IMO, especially against a winger with pace. Just look at Antonio. When fullbacks stick to him he just flicks the ball 10 yards past them and then does them for pace. As soon as defenders learned to stand off him, he ran out of ideas and struggled to get past them. I was at Southend. Their RM looked like their best player. He may have had the pace and skills, but he didn't get past Harding all night. So far this season I can't remember him making a major mistake, or any goals we've conceded coming from a cross from the right.
  20. Voted for Harding. Everyone has been, quite rightly, raving about Lambert and Lallana. Harding has been just as good at his job and probably more consistent than the other two. The problem is being a FB is less spectacular than scoring 50 goals a season, hence he only has 5 votes.
  21. Cork is a good shout, but he wouldn't come here. He has just signed a new 3 year deal at Chelsea, so clearly fancies himself as having a future there.
  22. Or Scooby. Or Dalek. Or HelpMeRhonda. Or Tommac. And the Phone thread from Banter Central.
