New Friendly Announced on 24th July
SuperMikey replied to Dave Benson Phillips's topic in The Saints
+1 That is the roughly the playing level of the Saints XI squad, will you now deride league matches against Dag & Red, Notts County etc because we're not out playing Real f*cking Madrid? I've seen some WUMs in my time, but you really take the proverbial biscuit DBP. -

Boyata is a donkey, would prefer to see Martin/Seabourne given opportunities rather than wasting money on an untried and untested youth player from a big club. Donaldson would be a better bet, he's got a big future ahead of him. However, I think we should be focusing a lot less on the loan market and aiming towards permanent deals, remember that we're looking to build a team to take us up to the Prem, and as the Skates showed last season, a team built on loans doesn't work well. -
Heskey retires from international football

If England fans could read some of the stuff posted on here now when they'd just qualified from their group, they'd all be scratching their heads. I can see that people think that the blame lies with the players, and it does, but taking the underperforming players out of the picture completely is the wrong thing to do, especially when there's nobody else in the frame to replace them. There's a reason why Gerrard and Cole are being hunted by Real Madrid, they're world class players that just don't have the motivation to perform at International level. -
Anna Von Hausswolff – Singing From The Grave Brilliant album from the next big thing in Swedish music. I would describe her as halfway between Laura Marling and Kate Bush, very heartfelt and emotional songs but also very well written songs. Get in there quick before everyone else does!

He'll be completely out of his depth at NPC level, mark my words. He won't be there for more than a couple of years.
-
Could we get an actual poll on this thread please mods, it's just degenerated into the same old Cortese thread and I only set it up so we could get a vote going!

Here's a thought - what about Paul Hartley from Bristol City? He's been told that he can leave and was left out of their pre-season tour so looks as if he's available. He's a good ball-winning midfielder and scored some cracking goals last season for BrizzleC, CHDAJFU? -
What, you think he'd sell the club for 20p or something? NC and ML have increased the value of this club immensely after wiping out the debts and assembling an esteemed playing and coaching staff, i'm sure if they wanted to pack up and leave tomorrow (God forbid!) that they'd be able to recoup their money at least.
-
It's widely known that Liebherr said he'd only embark on the purchase of SFC if Cortese was his right hand man in running the club. I'm fairly sure if NC decided to go, for whatever reason, that ML would look to move on.
-
Mentos and Coke is always a good one. That and C4.
-
For those saying it's a pathetic thread, it's not imo. There has been a lot of one-sided debate in the past on this subject and I thought it would be good to actually try and collect an idea of how people think NC is getting on at Saints on an even basis rather than it turning into another DBP/SRS thread bashing him, which is completely anti-Cortese. Those threads happen to spring up a lot more frequently than pro-Cortese threads, so one would be led to think that perhaps people don't like the guy. Personally, i'm 100% behind him and I hope he's here for many, many years to come.

Sounds promising Lambden, would love to have him back with us as I think he'll only improve as we go up the leagues. Nice to have a proper ITK for once on this forum, so thanks! -
League is obviously the priority, but wouldn't mind a nice little cup run again. Was nice to have Saints in the QF of the FA Cup (even if we did get thrashed by the Skates....again), and the JPT final day at Wembley was fantastic! My target would be: League - Title challenge JPT - Winners FA Cup - Quarter Finals League Cup - 3rd Round

Grindr is a must have Stevo.

Opinion seems to be divided between users on here as to how good a job they think Cortese is doing here, so perhaps we could have a poll just to see the general consensus on the subject? I know it's "yet another Cortese thread", but it would be interesting to see the actual percentages of people's opinions rather than just DBP rants. Poll options: Brilliant - I have 100% confidence in him Going well, but some decisions have worried me slightly Okay, but generally not a fan of him Poor, would prefer that somebody else took over Awful, Cortese out FFS! No Opinion

What you said, my mistake!

Fair enough, guess I was misinformed. Either way, we all have a human right to wear whatever we want, to express our beliefs, personality and culture through our clothing, and there's no real reason why the burka should be banned. As I said before, it all stems from our Western fear of Islam.
-
Eh? It says in the Quran that a veil (the burka) should be worn by women when they are in company of men who are not blood relations so as to retain their modesty. How does that not have anything to do with Islam?
-
Also saw Saville a few times but he was shocking whenever I saw him, particularly against Farnborough Town last season when he should've been sent off about 3 times.
-
I'm not sure there's a religion that states that half of its members must wear crash helmets. We may not like it, but it's a fundamental pillar of their religion, and while I agree that it is oppressive, we can't change a religion's set of beliefs.
-
Not really, i'm sure they'll be brought on as subs at some point. Pardew obviously just wants to run the rule over a few more players that played in the first half. In the words of Michael Winner; "Calm down dear!"
-
+1 All the people saying it's for security reasons are just talking out of their arses, if it was then people wouldn't be allowed to wear crash helmets/ski masks etc in public. It really just stems from a deep-seated fear of Islam by us Westerners.
-
Well, more regularly than us
-
Did anyone really expect us to beat a top-flight Swiss club that regularly plays in the CL?

Was announced a while back, the 'reserves' (ie the U21 squad) will be playing friendlies against continental teams instead of Bishop's Stortford Reserves on a rainy Tuesday night.
