    Fire

Was coming back from the cinema after watching Inception (cracking film btw) and noticed a whole load of police cars and vans parked at the top of my road, with a rather large crime scene cordon placed around the area. Apparently, as you may have seen on ITV News this evening, one of my neighbours set himself on fire in his car and then changed his mind halfway through. He managed to get out of the car but he's now in hospital with 80% body burns and it doesn't look like he'll make it through the night. Rather odd turn of events, everything was pretty normal when I left for the cinema at 2pm!
  2. I don't really care if Nicky boy has been refused a ST, he deserves to come down a bit from his pedestal.
  3. What a lovely puppy - bet he's going to be big though if he's half Dalmation! Always thought Rufus was a good name for a dog, alternatively you can go down the cliched route like Spot, Rover etc.
  4. I was also watching Sherlock, and would agree with most of Chapel End Charlie's review, but for a few points. - In my view, Sherlock was portrayed as a 'genius' or 'brilliant mind' to the point of coming across slightly 'Rain Man' imo, especially coupled with all of the shots of road signs etc during the chase scene with the cab. - I thought Holmes' relationship with the police force was a little cliched - 'we don't want him but we need him'. Mind you, if he'd gone too A-team then i'd probably be more annoyed! - While Steven Moffat is an excellent writer, and i'm a massive fan of all his work, I felt that he put slightly too much Dr Who into this particular character. I always thought of Holmes as more of a logical thinker rather than somebody haring around the back alleys of Brixton like the Tennant incarnation of the famous Doctor. Even down to the whole "Shh, i'm thinking" scenes, which Dr Who uses rather frequently. A little less chase and a little more cool would be appreciated in the future please Mr Moffat and Mr Gatiss. Apart from these niggling points though, I must say that it was very entertaining and i'm looking forward to the next two episodes. 7/10
  5. Carters' an interesting option - wouldn't like to see us pay over the odds for him based on other fans views, but i'm willing to be proved wrong with, say, a first hat-trick from him ;)Ought to be a decent game either way.
  6. When Griffit scored against Blackburn, I thought we had the next big thing. Turns out I was wrong.
  7. Wouldn't put it past them tbh, but the quotes seem to match our situation rather well. While Vassell would be quality, i'd rather get Nathan Tyson, as he's got more experience at this level and still has a lot of pace, whereas Vassell has lost a bit in the past few years.
  8. Suggested Vassell on the HCDAJFU thread and was involved in a rather extended debate on the subject. Personally, i'd love to see him here. He'd certainly add the quality that a marquee player brings to a team, and you can't doubt his experience.
  9. Tyson is reportedly unhappy at Forest because he's being played out of position on the left wing. Can't see him dropping down a division to play in the same position.
  10. I'm a fan of Vassell, but would rather have Tyson tbh.
  11. Blimey, 94. What an innings. Sounded like a very decent guy and devoted Saints fan, always sad when we lose another Saints fan. RIP
  12. After 3 minutes watching YouTube clips of Esajas, it seems he can hit a mean free-kick. With him and Rickie, we'll score 50 goals from DFKs this season!
  13. Holmes and Gobern are both good LMs on their day, plus they're both still young in terms of professional footballers. Gobern certainly has potential, although it would be a fair swap for Tyson, who is a much more complete player.
  14. \ This one wins hands down - the Citroen DS3. Coming to a bargain bin near you.
  15. We'll soon figure out after the first couple of games that we won't walk the league, it'll be a damn hard struggle all season. That's why teams like Leeds, Notts Forest and QPR amongst others have found L1 almost impossible to get out of in recent years. I'm still optimistic about our chances of winning the title, only it won't be as easy as some people think.
  16. Would be ecstatic if that was true, he's the player who will complete our side. Pace, power, aerial ability, technique and a good attitude.
  17. Complacent
  18. Slayer - Decade of Aggression Honestly, one of the best live albums i've ever heard. Next time they play in the UK, i'm getting tickets as soon as they come out!
  19. Pardew nearly crashed into my mate driving to the Farnborough game the other day - would've been a shame to wreck his nice Jag as well!
  20. Friday - Had work, then went down to the pub for a few hours Saturday - My day off this week. Took the dog for a long walk, didn't get up until 12pm and had a nice bbq for din-dins. Sunday - Working, then early night ready for my other job the next day
  21. Tyson would be a fantastic signing, he's quite a similar player to Waigo but slightly quicker and more powerful. His goalscoring record ain't half bad either. Would be very happy if we did sign him, he'd add a lot of quality to our already good squad!
  22. Yeah, lets get Wotte back FFS!
