England Team - Excluding players from the top 5 clubs.
SuperMikey replied to Cestrian Saint's topic in General Sports
What a shambles...have to wait for the papers tomorrow then to find out if it's really true! -
Thanks very much, i'm sure it'll provide valuable material for my burgeoning career as a stand-up comedian

It's only a summer job really until September. Don't mind the abuse, just fancy getting paid a decent sum of money (for an 18 year old) for not much work!
-
Anyone employed or has been employed in this field in the past? Summer jobs are slim pickings this year, but a job as a Telemarketer came up near me, so I was just wondering what kind of thing is involved? I know the cold calling side of things, I get enough of those at home, I was just wondering if there was much else involved. Thanks!

I'm a bassist but currently living outside the Soton area, although moving down for Uni in late August/early September. If you're still looking by then, give me a shout (or a PM). EDIT: Also just completed an A-level in Music Technology, so know my way around a studio and can do a decent mix, so if you're looking for a cheap producer then i'm up for that as well, although it's not exactly hard to do it yourself! EDIT EDIT: Like the demos btw!

One for our ladies, What do women look for in a bloke?
SuperMikey replied to Turkish's topic in The Muppet Show
I thought we were talking more long term here... Can't say I have a particular 'type' for short-term thingies, just go with the flow. -

Easy to talk to, good sense of humour and intelligence would be my top 3 personally. Looks are superficial anyway, we all get old and ugly eventually. Don't particularly fancy being stuck with some gripey old cow when i'm in my 70s... -
Hull have parachute payments and a decent squad assembled, he can take them up to the Prem again this year imo.

Pre-season Friendly vs. FC Sochaux-Montbéliard - 17th July
SuperMikey replied to Zurichsaint's topic in The Saints
Sochaux would be a good friendly, they're a good team. About on par with Sunderland perhaps. The close geographical proximity to Switzerland would suggest that we'll be playing around that area on tour, so all signs point to Switzerland! -
If you want to talk about food, i'm more than happy to oblige! Had a fantastic vegetable curry from Gastro Dome opposite the Leftfield, only cost a fiver as well and a huge portion, definitely value for money! Still got to cross off La Grande Bouffe, Piminister and Goan Fish Curry from my list of places to eat at, they're supposed to be fantastic. Barely drank any alcohol all weekend as I had a couple of pints of Brothers on the friday on an empty stomach and that coupled with the heat made me feel sick as a dog for most of the day. Would have preferred it to be a bit cooler, perhaps 18c-23c and a bit of rain to cool things off but apart from that it was a great festival! I remember you telling me about volunteering at the festival before Swanny, how did you go for it again? Thinking about applying through Oxfam but they usually get stuck with the duff jobs onsite like car parking, would prefer to be doing something around one of the stages if possible...

Is Cortese deliberately trying to annoy the fans.
SuperMikey replied to landford.saint's topic in The Saints
Have you not got better things to do than troll an internet forum all day? But f*ck it, just this once I will feed you. 6) Appointed a highly regarded and highly professional coaching and management staff 7) Organised and kicked off a revamp of the club's youth system which will enable us to produce top-quality players in the future 8] Shown he's not to be f*cked with by banning The Echo for acting unprofessionally 9) Put a hell of a lot of time and effort into ensuring that our club is financially watertight and run properly 10) Brought a billionaire owner to this club and oversaw one of our biggest spending sprees in a transfer window in years, at the lowest level we've played at for years 11) Increased the reputation of the club, enabling us to attract class players like Fonte, Lambert etc and talented and respected management staff like Pardew, Reed, Wilkins etc 12) Given me and thousands of other Saints fans the peace of mind that our club is being looked after properly by somebody who knows what he's doing, unlike past chairmen. Goodbye Stu. -

SuperMikey replied to landford.saint's topic in The Saints
F*cking grow up Stu, you bored people to death with your constant b!tching about Cortese with your last persona, and now you're back spouting the same old tired sh!t. Would you prefer that we could go back to this time last year and let the club be liquidated rather than have an astute businessman running the club in a professional manner? Ungrateful little c*nt. -
Blatter's Sorry - Get Ready For Goal line Technology
SuperMikey replied to Gemmel's topic in General Sports
The chip sounds like a great idea, easier to implement than two hawkeye cameras in each goalframe at every participating tier of domestic and international football as well... -
Oh, and if anyone happens to be the bloke who came up and congratulated me on my Saints shirt during the England game in the VIP bit at Chill'n'Charge, thanks!

England starting XI for Euro 2012 qualifiers
SuperMikey replied to saints_is_the_south's topic in General Sports
Depends on who the manager is really, as each manager will have players who he (or she) likes and dislikes, and will adjust the squad accordingly. Personally, taking age into account i'd go for something like; -----------------------HART------------------------ ----------JAGIELKA----TERRY----CAHILL-------- --MILNER--------------------------------A.COLE ----------GERRARD----BARRY----J.COLE--------- ----------------ROONEY----CROUCH------------ That team will qualify, but won't exactly set the tournament alight. -

I'm 6'4. Call me. -
I'd argue that Joe Cole is quite a creative player, but aside from him and perhaps Beckham, nobody springs to mind.

Biffy were good, played quite a lot of old tunes as well which was good, although not many around me knew them. Wish they still finished with 'Jaggy Snake', that would shake the Glasto crowd up a bit! Having had time to reflect on the festival now, I think it was okay. Not great imo, and it could have been a lot better. Obviously the weather was a factor for me because I don't really cope very well in heat (i'm a big lad and burn like paper), but the line-up was overall pretty mediocre considering the occasion. '08 and '09 were much better festivals, I enjoyed them a lot more and the atmosphere was a lot nicer. Noticed an influx of 'Council Estate Trevors' this year shouting at their kids whilst supping warm Carlsberg on a slightly too small camping chair in the Pyramid field and there was a lot more loutish behaviour including some pr!ck drunkenly falling onto our tent and kicking my mate in the face in the process at 2am, which didn't go down too well... I've decided to volunteer as a Steward for next year, and may volunteer at a fair few other festivals as well, anyone got any suggestions as to where to try? I thought RockNess would be good, they had a great line-up this year and it's a nice site too, medium sized festival so not too many people to deal with at once.

Getting the thread back on track somewhat, England would never have gone through even if the goal had been allowed (which it clearly should have been). They were p!ss poor, no organisation, no motivation, no movement, no creativity, no communication and no clue. Germany were a well oiled machine, they're a very inexperienced squad compared to England but they moved the ball around well, and though some may scoff and say that their first goal was League 2 hoofball, that's the way that you exploit the awful defending that England were showing. At the stage of International football, I follow Scotland. I've lived my life in England, but parental influence has persuaded me to join the jocks. If you watched 45 minutes of a Scotland game and 45 minutes of an England game, you would see such a vast difference. Obviously there are some primadonnas in the Scotland squad, and technically it's like comparing cabbage to caviar, but the players go out there and give it their all for 90 minutes, and that is what the England team are lacking. With the addition of a talented workhorse like Milner, England looked a lot better as a team against Slovenia than Algeria. Sadly, the modern game has bred this kind of mutual "it's only an international" attitude in most modern day players. Put the '66 team up against the current England team and the '66 team would run rings around our modern day players because they just didn't stop working. I am very annoyed at the goal not being given, and quite sad for the thousands of people who paid copious amounts of money to fly out to SA only to see their national team play so poorly, but surely those happy clappy England fans have realised by now that England were sh1t 10 years ago, are sh1t now and will remain sh1t until somebody comes in to shake things up. Drop the underperformers for the next few games and put in some players that actually give a f*ck, if the manager can find any.

WOW. What a weekend! Couldn't have taken it any hotter, only saw half the bands I wanted to because I had to shelter inside half of the time to ecape from the sun! Quick rundown of the bands I watched as i'm off to bed in a minute: FRIDAY Rolf Harris (Pyramid) - Really got the crowd going, good singalongs and funny guy Miike Snow (John Peel) - Got a huge crowd and played some good tunes Phoenix (Other) - Amazing set, loads of energy and one of the best of the weekend Local Natives (Park) - Brilliant songs, shame not many more people went to see them as they were definitely one of the standout sets of the weekend for me. Nice n summery! The Woodentops (Avalon) - Scary, just scary. The singer kept staring at me and my mate, whatever he was on, it would probably knock out a rhino. Newton Faulkner (Avalon) - Always brilliant live and no change here. Got the crowd singing along like madmen (and madwomen) when he played a cover of Bohemian Rhapsody Thom Yorke/Special Guests (Park) - Only caught the end of this as we were on the other side of the site when it started, but got there just in time to hear Karma Police and Street Spirit, fantastic! Gorillaz (Pyramid) - Yawn. I like Gorillaz, but it was so tedious and boring. Honestly. Damon, remember the crowd are there next time you're about to play a 5 minute banjo instrumental. SATURDAY Two Door Cinema Club (Other) - Really good sound live, lots of energy. Will be a really big band, trust me! The Lightning Seeds (Pyramid) - Anthemic rock tunes, some good singing from the crowd. Three Lions went down well before the game actually started... Biffy Clyro/Special Guests (Park) - Had a huge crowd, possibly the worst kept secret of the weekend. Played a good set though Steve Harley & The ****ney Rebels (Avalon) - Played to a big crowd and went down well, some big singalongs Charlie Winston (Avalon) - Definitely my favourite set of the weekend, he was absolutely amazing! He's a major star in France but despite being from Sussex, he's virtually unknown over here! It's criminal! Worked the crowd so well too Laura Marling (Park) - Drew a big crowd, most of whom just talked all the way through. If you go to see a band/artist - you tend to actually listen to them play! Heard most of her set from up the big ribbon tower Muse (Pyramid) - Only caught the last half hour, but it seems they went down well. Still absolutely loathe their new stuff though SUNDAY Dan Mangan (John Peel) - Just caught his set after returning from taking all the stuff to the car, went down really well but I think I was the only one who actually knew who he was there... The Temper Trap (Other) - Got a big crowd in the scorching hot sun, Sweet Disposition was definitely one of the best songs I saw of the festival Ray Davies (Pyramid) - Boring Goldhawks (Queen's Head) - Boringer Jack Johnson (Pyramid) - Boringest Faithles (Pyramid) - AMAZING! There was a fight near me just before they started though, first one i've ever seen at Glasto which is a shame.

Simple Hamster: just do a swap with France and/or Russia. Our women in exchange for theirs. Their lot already have full beards.

My point exactly. As I said above, if Slovenia had equalised, England would've been screwed with Heskey as a lone striker. Should've put Crouch on.
