The Official Summer Transfers and HCDAJFU Thread
SuperMikey replied to supersonic's topic in The Saints
Wayne Brown from Fulham, really highly rated prospect who spent some time on loan at Brizzle Rovers this season. He plays pretty much anywhere across midfield but is a natural central midfielder. Fulham reserve team coach Billy McKinlay has tipped him to be a future star, and he's made a few first team appearances this season. The best part about it is he's on a free in the summer. -
I guess that's what you'd call a clean sweep. Good luck to all the players released in their future footballing careers, i'm sure that most will find new clubs and becomes favourites there, as the likes of James, Gillett, McLaggon, Thomas etc have talent but just haven't been deemed good enough by AP and his staff. So what does that leave us with? GK - Davis, Bialkowski (offered new contract), Forecast RB - ? LB - Harding, Mills CB - Jaidi, Fonte, Seabourne, Martin CM - Schneiderlin, Hammond, Wotton RM - Lallana LM - Puncheon, Holmes ST - Lambert, Barnard, Connolly (offered new contract) Obviously there are more youth and reserve players in the squad, but I would say that is our first team at the moment. With no recognised right backs in the squad (although Calderon is strongly rumoured to be coming) and only one right midfielder (Puncheon can play on both sides though), I think we can expect MAJOR moves in the summer. Heard more and more rumours surfacing about Marlon Harewood perhaps coming here, he's on a free in the summer and has links with Pardew from his time at West Ham.

Their captain Brian McLean would be a great signing as well, we need to strengthen at CB with Perry and Jaidi getting on and Seabourne needing more time to develop. -
The Lib Dems wanted a different system to the one that the Conservatives are offering. Personally, I didn't fancy either of those systems, why we can't just have simple PR i'll never know! Surely having a % of MPs related to the number of votes is just logical!?

Still crying into our pints some weeks after we lose in the play-off final to a rejuvenated P*mpey side with a Swiss billionnaire of their own... ........nah, just kidding! Celebrating automatic promotion from the CCC while we watch AFC Pimpley battling with titans such as St Albans.
-
Since when have the National Front been in coalition with the Lib Dems?
-
South Today fawning over P*mpey just now. I don't know why the media are so in love with them, they have sh!t support, a sh!t team (albeit better than ours), sh!t owners and a sh!t history. I've not decided yet whether i'm going to watch the final, but if Chelsea go 2-0 up inside 10 minutes, i'll see what time the next train down to Southsea is to pop down and have a look at the big screen!

Meh, it's okay. Not a huge fan of the 125 Comic Relief ball at the top, but the rest of it is fine. Just thought we'd have something a bit more different to celebrate the 125 years rather than just changing around a few colours and replacing the football with a clown's nose. Still, i'm sure we'll all think it's great when we see it on the shirts, would be quite unfair to write it off now!

£45 goes to the FA for the tickets, the other £50 goes to P*mpey, as part of their new alliance

I'm a midfield playmaker, I leave Schneiderlin in the dust! -
This is what I would've written had I been informed on the subject, unfortunately i'm not a lawyer! They have certainly printed rumour as fact and aimed personal attacks at NC when it was they who were in the wrong in the first place. I can't see anything more becoming of it though, we'll get our emails back from the respective people saying they appreciate our comments blah blah blah and never hear anything else about it again. That's the modern media for you!

As always! Oh, and congratulations to Spudgun for getting the 10000th post on this thread, this is a happy day for everybody. mugs = pugs

Maybe we should make it our number 1 priority to only sign players who are Saints fans over the summer? I'll update the list as suggestions come in... 1) Wade Elliot 2) Sam Vokes 3) Brian Stock 4) Craig David (CDAJFU as the new announcer; "Can I get a reeeeeewiiind St. Mary's?") 5) Me 6) Lukas Jutkiewicz 7) Brian Howard -
Sorry babe, but it is my thread after all! jugs

He spoke out against their actions, but hitting out is another thing entirely. He merely reminded them that their place is not in the board room, internal matters should stay as such and while he values their respective contributions to the club, they didn't have a right to criticise his running of the club. Cortese has been working his arse off for us this season, and he has given this club some real stability now, yet people still can't resist the opportunity to slag him off. Some things never change!

But did NC ever come out and say that ML was unhappy with the progress made? Did any other media outlets report that? Has ML come out and said he's been unhappy with performances? That obviously leads us to think that it's an unsubstantiated rumour, which it appears that it is. The Echo just jumped on the bandwagon like they always do. Also, are you seriously saying that The Echo is a piece of journalistic excellence? Maybe you ought to try reading it sometime. Journalistic excellence isn't usually riddled with spelling errors and unsupported statements. And re: the vendetta, I suggest that you also read the ENTIRE NEWS ARTICLE that The Echo created from a small portion of the statement released by NC which takes a few choice quotes and makes it seem as if he's personally attacking the people who spoke out against the rumours surrounding Pardew's future. His criticism of the Pinnacle consortium is fair, because, as he said, they did set us back a long time, which meant that we didn't really have a pre-season or any kind of certainty in the board room until August, and almost certainly contributed to the 10 game winless streak we suffered at the start of the season. A few wins from those 10 games may have seen us in the play-offs.

Sorry, haven't answered your question yet. I don't buy the Echo very often, only really when I go to games, and I usually only read the sport sections, as I leave the national newspapers to inform me on what else is happening in the UK and elsewhere. I do read the website quite often though, and the standard is quite often not that great, stories are usually only about 100-200 words and contain very little information and rarely any quotes. I suppose that's probably because there are fuller stories in the newspaper itself, but i'm not the only one who has expressed discontent with the style of journalism and the content of some articles. It's a regular complaint on here that The Echo lift things straight off SaintsWeb and turn it into 'news', which immediately rings alarm bells. The quality of the journalism in the Echo isn't that bad really, it's more the fact that they tend to overstate small nuances in stories, such as NC recently saying that LM et al didn't have much of a right to come out against him when he'd done nothing wrong, which the Echo turned into an entire news story. Read the article 'Cortese hits out at Saints legends' to see what I mean.
