  1. Lukaku Mulumbu Feel free to copy and paste those for next time you want to post about either of those players, saves y'all the hassle of worrying about the spelling.
  2. I agree, Spiritoso is something a bit special. Glad to hear you like them though, give The Black Light a couple more listens and I guarantee you'll be hooked.
  3. Truth is, the league has been on the decline for a while now. Players nowadays will probably prefer a move to a club where they're offered a good wage, which is something that most Scottish clubs (Celtic and, in a few years, Rangers excluded) can't afford. Gone are the days of players like Henrik Larsson playing in the SPL, why play for a club the size of Celtic when they can get a bigger paycheque somewhere else at a similar sized club?
  4. Reminds me of an article I saw online yesterday on the Mail site, bemoaning "trendy" modern comedy and frustratedly rubbing its Fools and Horses-inspired semi against Hyacinth Bucket's back. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2395233/Big-School-review-David-Walliams-comedy-masterclass-says-Christopher-Stevens.html (Btw, Big School was sh!t)
  5. You can't quite put your finger on what kind of sound it is - kinda halfway between Beirut and an Ennio Morricone score. Interesting adaptations of a few of their older songs too. They've added the Mariachi brass elements to their sound in the last 4 or 5 years, but they've always had that kind of waltzy rhythm in their songs. Give "The Black Light" and "Spoke" a listen, those are their first two albums. Got quite a growly, Nick Cave type feel to them. The added orchestration really came in on their album from a few years ago "Carried to Dust", which is my favourite of theirs. They also did the OST for the John/Marty McDonagh film "The Guard" which came out a couple of years ago, which is one of my favourite films. Makes it worth a watch just for the music!
  6. I think that's a great idea, maybe we can be more like Wigan if we have a drum!

  8. Savages are excellent, there's something a bit different about them. Reckon they're the kind of band that will get a cult following and then release a masterpiece 5 or 6 years down the line which makes them blow up. As for what i'm listening to at the moment, I am mildly obsessed with Calexico - specifically their recent album "Spiritoso" which features them playing with a full orchestra. Some of it is absolutely mind-blowing, and rather than make the songs seem bloated and overproduced, the extra orchestration just illustrates how excellent Joey Burns' songwriting is.
  9. You know nothing of television Bearsy, that episode had the requisite amount of Skylar to make it good. Any more and the rating would have gone down. Will be interesting to see whether Jesse decides to flip on Walt, reckon Hank is going to try and pull a few tricks and spin a few lies to try and get him to talk.
  10. Nope, that is Johnny Depp. He bought a house in Hartley about 50ft away from where my mate lives.
  11. Tried once or twice, but not many caught on. Heard another group try and start it too. Will get it rocking in the Kingsland North on Saturday though!
  12. Cover for LB would be my first thought. Cresswell?
  13. Not on there for me..
  14. Monk is ITK, if he's saying that we're 99% of the way there and all that's left is the signature then that's what's happening!
  15. It was deemed that Jay was "interfering with play" because he blocked the keeper's path to the ball whilst in an offside position. I think so anyway. That's what I gleamed from watching the highlights.
  16. I like that, although might make 1 or 2 changes... ----------------BORUC----------------- CLYNE----LOVREN----YOSHIDA----SHAW --------WANYAMA----MORGAN---------- ----LALLANA---LAMBERT---JAYROD------ ---------------OSVALDO---------------- Think Osvaldo is a better finisher than any of our current forwards, so it makes sense for him to be the one who's highest up the pitch. Lallana and Jay pushing up and making runs into the box, Rickie a bit deeper to dictate the play.
  17. How about this? ----------------BORUC----------------- CLYNE----LOVREN----YOSHIDA----SHAW --------WANYAMA----MORGAN---------- ----------------LALLANA---------------- -----JAYROD----LAMBERT----OSVALDO-- ----------------BORUC----------------- CLYNE----LOVREN----YOSHIDA----SHAW --------WANYAMA----MORGAN---------- JAYROD------------------------LALLANA --------------------LAMBERT----------- ---------OSVALDO--------------------- ?
  18. EDIT: Double post.
  19. Well, what a game that was yesterday! Like most have said, first half was pretty much all Saints and we could've been 1 or 2 up at the break (had we been a little more incisive). Second half a much more even affair, although both defences did their jobs very well in order to limit the strikers. Game was definitely played in the midfield and Rickie was getting a little frustrated that he wasn't getting enough service - made lots of runs into the channels and pulled his markers all over the place but we didn't seem to want to play the ball into the final third without having bodies in there. Boruc 7 Didn't have a huge amount of work to do most of the day, but was there when he needed to be. Pulled off some very good saves, and his stop at the end was absolutely world class. Also looked very confident and claimed the ball well from crosses and set-pieces. Best keeper we've had since Niemi imo, and to be honest he's not far off that level either! Hope he sticks around for a while yet. Chambers 7 Pretty settled for his debut, wasn't expecting great shakes from him considering it was his first game for us but he didn't look out of place. I watched him quite closely throughout pre-season after it was revealed that Clyne was carrying an injury, and he looks a very good player. Just needs to be more confident when taking his man on like Luke, and maybe a little work on positioning but otherwise a very encouraging start! Shaw 9 Christ, is he really 18? Can't remember the last time I saw an 18 year old look the best player on the pitch in a Premier League game. Was our main threat down the left as the wingers would tuck in when he got down the wing. Not afraid to try and beat his man and always seems to know what to do when he's on the ball. He's going to be absolutely world class. Fonte 8 Was hoping to see Yoshida partnering Lovren yesterday, but Jose didn't disappoint at all. He was one half of an extremely composed centre-back performance. Stayed tight to his man without being dragged around, and was always out quickly to shut down the opponent when they came into his space. Showed some nice passing as well. Can't say he'd be my first choice in defence, but he certainly made a good case for another start next week against Sunderland. Lovren 8 Very impressed with Dejan. Wasn't expecting him to be so good on the deck, but he put in some very good tackles and his positional sense was excellent. Seems kinda like a cross between Jose and Jos in his playing style, composed but also quite dominant. Didn't look like he was overly happy with playing on the left side of the two but did his job well. Anelka could have been a tricky customer yesterday but Dejan made him look like nothing special. Excited to see more from him in the coming weeks. Wanyama 9 (MOTM) Bloody hell. Probably one of the best debuts i've seen in my time as a Saints fan! He was absolutely everywhere in that midfield, making tackles left right and centre and players were literally hanging off him trying to get the ball from him. When people talked about us needing a "midfield enforcer" in the past, I don't think they imagined he would be this good.. Whether he can keep up this level of performance obviously remains to be seen, but I don't think yesterday could have gone much better for him. Schneiderlin 8 Did exactly what you would expect him to do. Put himself around, made some excellent tackles and interceptions and was always there to offer an option. Also seems to have gained an extra yard of pace since last season, at least over a short distance. In a game that was dictated primarily in the middle of the park, Morgan was very composed, controlled and creative. Looking forward to seeing more of him and Big Vic! Ward-Prowse 7 Prowsey had a good game I think. Was surprised to see him on the team sheet ahead of Punch or Guly, but he earned his place. His energy and work rate were excellent, and he put in some good deliveries from set-pieces which unfortunately we didn't capitalise on. Still seems that we haven't quite worked out his best position, but he did well as a wide midfielder in a 3, and he offered good support to his full backs when needed. Honourable mention for producing a stinger out of nowhere in the first half which really tested Foster! Lallana 7 Decent performance from Adam. He was all over the final third, always trying to find a little gap to exploit or some space to run into. If we'd had controlled WBA's half more then he probably could have nabbed a goal, but some good defensive work from them meant he had to drop deep quite a lot to pick up the ball. Shame he came off but an encouraging performance. Rodriguez 7 Was unfortunate to have been marked incredibly well by the WBA defence/midfield, otherwise I think he could have done very well yesterday. Showed some good movement to get himself into space up top and played all 3 roles in attack at some stage without looking uncomfortable. Made a few driving runs with the ball but his opponents were always quick to close him down and get the ball away from his feet. Unlucky to hit the bar with a drilled shot that was called back for a foul by Lallana anyway. Rickie Lambert, Southampton's Goal Machine 8 What a week for Rickie. Perhaps he didn't get the service yesterday that he would have wanted as WBA were very quick to limit his options. Couldn't get the ball to his feet as Olsson and McAuley were all over him, so had to resort to running in behind the defenders which we didn't seem too keen on trying more than twice! Still dropped deep and showed some good link-up play, and when that penalty was given I was in no doubt as to what the outcome would be. Utter legend for the club, and I might be in love with him a bit. Subs: Ramirez 5 I don't want to be overly negative towards Gaston, as he's obviously a good player, but I don't have any idea why Poch put him on yesterday. Obviously not the right kind of game for him as it was a very physical battle all over, and he thrives on having space to play in (which WBA were very good at limiting all game). Didn't quite seem to know what he was doing, and was always near the ball but unreachable with a pass. Chuck in a few woeful passes and it wasn't a good one for him yesterday. Obviously he's tired due to travelling from international duty, so give him a rest and put on Punch or Guly to try and penetrate their defence. S. Davis 7 Brought on to replace JWP's tired legs and did exactly that. Provided energy and a bit of bite out wide, and was very good at covering the full back. He might feel unlucky to be on the bench, but I think he's a good option to have later on in a game in order to shore up the midfield. Cork N/A Wasn't on the pitch long enough to pass comment on, but he's certainly going to have his work cut out in order to get back into the starting line-up! One of the few negatives about yesterday for me was also the erratic officiating. West Brom fans are moaning about the amount of cards they picked up, but I was more puzzled by the linesmen being very slow to flag for just about anything. Not a confident display from any of the officials, but maybe they'll get better as the season goes on? (Or at least I hope so!) All in all, 3 points well earned and I hope we mean to carry on the way we've started!
  20. My housemate showed me a quote supposedly from Osvaldo saying that he'd only be interested in a move to Spurs or Inter at this point - i've been at work since midday and can't be arsed to read through this thread to find out whether it's been covered already or not, so can someone help me out here!?
  21. Deeney is no Osvaldo. We're clearly after a top striker and Troy is loving it at Watford atm.
  22. Will newgen players be a little more realistic this time around? You only ever seem to get players with high attributes in 4 or 5 categories, not many newgen players are as well-rounded as a lot of the existing players on the game.
  23. Maybe he wants to move back up north? He was at Burnley before us which is literally just down the road from Bolton. Tbf if we've got a LB lined up already then I say let him go. Don't want to be overly negative but don't think he's good enough defensively to come in and cover.
  24. Absolutely made up for Rickie, couldn't have happened to a nicer bloke. Bit gutted as i'm a Scotland fan, but a close run game with Rickie scoring the winner is something I can't complain about!
