Monk, did you speak to your contact regarding "getting the ball out" in pre-season training? I understand that there was a lot of emphasis on this during pre-season training under NA, but from what i've heard in interviews and seen on video, Pochettino seems to be focussing much more on the fitness side of things before any ball work starts. What does he reckon to it?

Bigger built, but Bale is at least a couple of inches taller than Shaw. Not saying that Luke is in any way a bit fey (i've also seen him out-muscle some pretty strong players) but Bale has a different kind of strength, much like Ronaldo (yes, I will make that comparison again). Not so much in his physicality, but more in how he uses his height and strength when dispossessing a player.

Not sure he'd be as successful in that role as Bale is - one of Bale's real strengths as a winger is his height and his strength as well as his Ronaldo-esque athleticism. Haven't seen any of those attributes in Luke's game so far, personally I think he'll make for a world-class overlapping fullback ala Baines as opposed to somebody who runs the flank like Bale does.

Why would we play him at centre back? He can only play there like Fox and Cork can - only if we really need him to. He's much better higher up the pitch than that.

Are there any leagues that you do rate? There are some very good young players in Holland at the moment (Van Ginkel, Strootman, Fischer, De Jong, Bony, Fer).

Bony and Chadli are quality, quality players. Any team outside the Top 4 would be improved with them in the side.

I agree, there was such a positive and happy feeling onstage and in the crowd that it was just fun to be there. They couldn't seem to get their heads around people here knowing their stuff. As you say, they're going to be huge soon so they'd better get used to it! Thought Foals were alright, bit boring at times though. Didn't see any of the others but wanted to see Nas, had some good acts on at Sonic this year but could never actually get inside the tent!

Did you watch their set at The Park or at William's Green the day after? I saw both and it was a genuine pleasure to see them perform, they seemed to be enjoying themselves immensely.
