  1. Bearsy, I think you should do a bit of espionage for us. What is this gtomlinson's motive for comparing us to Barca? Does he want to be friends with us? Does he want to pave the way for Morgan Schneiderlin to join them by creating a good relationship between the clubs? Or is he just mentally ill? Your mission is to uncover the facts here. God speed.
  2. I think the correct terminology is "Cheese eating surrender monkeys" actually, but I think yours is a nice variation on a theme.
  3. Just watched the first episode of the new series of Black Mirror. Forgot just how unsettling this show could be. Charlie Brooker is probably the best thing to happen to TV in the 21st century so far imo, everything he's done has been excellent, from Dead Set to Screenwipe to How TV Ruined Your Life through to Black Mirror.
  4. Solidarity, brother.
  5. I'm not part of this debate, i'm merely a bystander.
  6. It seems that all people who own Apple computers actually do with them is go on internet forums to preach about how much better Apple is than Windows. Your computer probably thinks you're really boring. I'm pretty dull, but at least my laptop is full of porn, torrents and computer games.
  7. I think Dominic Gape is about 18. EDIT: Just seen the date on the article - could be him!
  8. There are hypocrites on both sides of the left/right divide. It doesn't change the fact that The Sun is a f*cking sh!t paper and those who read it as their main source of news are sorely misguided.
  9. "The f*cker will rue the day!"
  10. Groundhog Day Holy Grail Life of Brian Die Hard Anchorman Withnail & I (great shout)
  11. Me putting it on here is a drop in the ocean, given that The Sun is sold in almost every shop in the UK, their website gets millions of hits and the Guardian's story about the front-page controversy has received a lot of coverage. I wouldn't say that me putting the front page on here is exposing too many more people to it - and besides this thread is supposed to provoke debate!

    The Sun

I know there's already a thread on the Pistorius case, but I think this deserves a thread of its own. https://static-secure.guim.co.uk/sys-images/Media/Pix/pictures/2013/2/15/1360930012140/The-Sun-Oscar-Pistorius-f-001.jpg That's the front page of The Sun today. Completely tasteless, inappropriate and only serves to compound the disdain that I feel for that "newspaper". Discuss.
  13. Jesus tittyf*cking Christ!
  14. When I went home to visit the folks a few months ago my Mum was watching an episode of Girls. I watched a bit with her and unfortunately it was a bit R-rated for parental viewing.
  15. I believe that Jose Mourinho was spot on when he said you need a squad of 23 players in the Premier League. GK - Artur Boruc (pending a new contract), Paolo Gazzaniga, Kelvin Davis (player/coach role?) RB - Nathaniel Clyne, Frazer Richardson LB - Luke Shaw, Danny Fox CB - Jose Fonte, Vegard Forren, Maya Yoshida, Jos Hooiveld CM - Morgan Schneiderlin, Jack Cork, Steven Davis, James Ward-Prowse RM/LM - Adam Lallana, Jason Puncheon, Gaston Ramirez, Guly Do Prado ST - Rickie Lambert, Jay Rodriguez, Emmanuel Mayuka, Tadanari Lee Everyone who isn't on that list can leave, and the weaker players who are in that 23 can be replaced if need be. Youth players like Stephens, Chambers etc can come into the side to make up numbers.
  16. We have to hope that their Europa League games affect them badly, as they have an absolutely quality squad now after their January window. Will be interesting to see how our pressing style affects their long-ball game. ----------------BORUC-------------- CLYNE-----MAYA-----JOS------SHAW ---------MORGAN----CORK---------- PUNCH---------DAVIS--------JAYROD --------------LAMBERT-------------- Subs: Davis, Forren, Fonte, JWP, Lallana, Ramirez, Lee
  17. You can't judge a manager on a couple of games, same as you can't judge Mayuka or Lee on a couple of games. Nigel proved himself in my view by taking us up to the Championship in the manner that he did. He made himself a legend (again, in my view) by taking us up to the Premier League and doing well this season.
  18. And the criticism of an over-confident, hypocritical keyboard warrior means so much to me. But no, it probably doesn't matter to him. I don't really care. It's not like he has an individual bond with every fan, but as individual fans we all have a bond (or lack of) with the manager. I'll refrain from chanting his name until he proves himself.
  19. From what i've seen of him (mainly highlights from U21 and U18 games) he's a classy finisher, clever on the ball, good technique. Possibly not the quickest in the world or the strongest, but he's clever in how he gets around his lack of physicality in his play.
  20. Reading vs Wigan will be an interesting game on the 23rd - Reading like to play on the counter and Wigan like to keep the ball. Will be interesting to see who comes out on top in that game, although hopefully it'll be a draw!
  21. Couple of lads near me at the game yesterday were singing "Pochettino's Red and White Army" for a large portion of the game, but I didn't join in. When MP keeps us up, then I will sing his name. He's got to prove himself first - no matter what the result was yesterday.
  22. Cyprus anyone?
  23. I think our CBs have gone from being an exploitable weakness at the start of the season to a force to be reckoned with now. We've got 4 very good CBs at the club now, with Yoshida and Fonte capable of playing right and Forren and Jos playing left. Obviously Yoshi can play on both sides as well. Still got Martin and Seaborne as back-up, although I can see them leaving in the summer if we want to fast-track Jack Stephens' development. You can't ignore that the defensive stability that Cork has brought back into the team though. Him and Schneiderlin are great at protecting the back four.
  24. Ow, my head hurts.
  25. Gaston will be missed, he does have the ability to create something from nothing but I think a break will benefit him. GK: Boruc RB: Clyne LB: Shaw/Fox CB: Yoshida CB: Forren/Jos CM: Cork CM: Schneiderlin RM: Jay Rod LM: Lallana AM: Davis ST: Lambert Jay Rod was quality against Wigan, in both positions out wide. Hopefully he can bully Clichy a bit if he plays on the right. Punch probably needs a rest.
