The club doesn't need the Echo a fraction of the amount that the Echo needs the club. We've got an OS and we're a Premier League club so there's going to be national press interest in goings on at the club. Ultimately it's in the best interests of the Echo to keep their contacts at the club sweet so they get their stories. Burning bridges isn't exactly going to help things.

If you buy a pin from Nick he might be more gracious towards you

Difference is that this is a forum for fans, not a f*cking newspaper. Concessions have to be made if you want to maintain a relationship like Saints and the Echo had. All the club asked was that the story be put back until after the official release, not a massive thing to have to do really. It was just really petty of the paper to go ahead and throw away the opportunity for interviews and possibly the odd snippet of goings-on in the club. It's their fault they've got to scrape around on Google and forums for information now. I agree that maybe an acknowledgement would have been the best way to go, the information was already out there, but if somebody specifically asks you to not publish something and you just do it anyway, don't then complain when your privileges get taken away.

Google "Southampton Away Travel" - run by my mate Nick who owns the football merchandise stall in Shirley market (was outside Primark in West Quay over christmas too). Free food and drink, pick ups in Marchwood, Central Station, Stadium, Fleming Park and Winchester, getting wifi sorted and got Sky TV as well. Very reasonable prices and friendly people. Stop a few times on a journey for a short period to stretch your legs, have a fag etc rather than stopping for an hour like the travel club do. Oh and there's a toilet on board too.

I'll be doing Man Utd on the Wednesday then Wigan on the Saturday. Have to say i'm looking forward to this one more! Hopefully this snow holds off a bit, 2 trips up to Manc in a week in the snow would be a mare...

If you've got a close relationship with a person or an organisation that is vital to what's published in your newspaper or magazine, you have to do everything to keep that relationship intact. Everyone knows that NC can be volatile, it was an incredibly short-sighted move by the Echo to go against the club and report a story which would have been official by the time the next edition was printed anyway. Pointless, and they're currently facing the consequences of their failure to act professionally.

That £8bn ensures we're sitting up at the big boy's table, not píssing about on the floor playing with Lego like most Express readers want us to do.

Jos did a great job on Carroll in the Wet Sham game, likewise against Stoke. He's capable of filling in on Saturday against Benteke + 10. I'd rather get the right player in than rush it in time for Saturday and end up with somebody of lesser quality.

Or we could just play our best keeper - Boruc. You know, the man with 14 clean sheets in Serie A last season, nearly 50 caps for Poland and plenty of Champion's League experience. It's not a hard decision to make - he's here until June and we can re-evaluate our goalkeeping options then. Kelvin will probably retire from playing or leave, Gazza will probably go on loan or be rotated with an experienced keeper, whether that's Boruc or somebody else.

I work in a small shop and we never fail to sell all of the Echo's we get in - usually 60+. People are interested in the local news, but the journalism is generally of poor quality and I have no interest in anything in it aside from the few pages at the back about Saints. Their poor relationship with the club now is their own fault, if they had acted professionally then they would have more interesting stuff to print.

Great news, think the plan is for Luke to sign a long-term deal in the summer when he turns 18, until now it's a verbal commitment. He's easily got the talent to play at this level for the rest of his career, and has the potential to be an England international. Could get his chance sooner rather than later with Cole on his way out and Baines no spring chicken either.

Cheshire Cat up front, his movement is top quality.

Steven Davis got it when Fonte went off. Rickie will probably get it though.

Watched Catch Me If You Can earlier. S'alright. My favourite conman movie is still Matchstick Men though.
-
The guy is class, getting him on loan until the summer would be a fantastic coup.

Just watched the highlights - how the ref gives a penalty against Davis is beyond me! He's about 5yds away from the incident, it's directly in front of him and nobody's blocking his view. Unbelievable. -
Zaha is a good player, but he's also an utter utter pr!ck. Plays like a stroppy kid.

Actually, I was in the stands today cheering the lads on, as I have been for almost every game this season. Guly gets so much stick from two-bob pr!cks such as your fine self for misplacing a few passes when everybody did the same today. We were crap in midfield, and Guly wasn't helped by the fact that he played in 3 different positions across the game either. -

Lee was awful when he came on too, same for De Ridder. Need much better cover in those wide areas. -

Boruc - Made some decent saves. Defence gave him no help. Cork - Out of position too much. Shaw - Bullied Fonte - Decent, hope his injury is ok Yoshida - Did ok, no aerial presence though Morgan - Rubbish Davis - Rubbish JWP - Rubbish Puncheon - Far too casual Guly - Did ok Rodriguez - Decent display. No chance in the air though. Chelsea fans - Massive bunch of cúnts. -
Seen him play for Bologna on the net a few times, Sweden too. He's part-owned by Juve, odd he's not getting more of a look in there tbh.
