  1. Yes - under Dave Jones. And what a load of tosh most of those signings were (Scott Marshall anyone?).
  2. Full backs is the one position we are OK at. Tino/KWP at RB , Peraud/Small (who can hopefully kick on) at LB plus some of the youngsters coming through. I keep seeing us linked with Delap from City as a loan - how about trying to grow our own, such as Olaigbe, Ballard, Pearce? No doubt CB, GK, AMF, ST are all areas we need to strengthen. Our team just does not create enough chances and creativity is non-existent. Hopefully Long, Walcott, Redmond, Djnepo, Elyonoussi, Bednarek are all gone in the summer. What a ridiculous decision to give Walcott a 2 year contract.
  3. Good luck on your retirement Dave. A class act - should never have been made Saints manager but obviously Askham had him as a stop gap appointment while he tried to sell the club. Will never forget him keeping us up and being there while his wife was seriously ill in hospital - and then Askham sacked him. A decent man who did great work with the forerunner of the Academy.
  4. So, so bad on so many levels. A clueless manager, spineless players, terrible recruitment the last few years and a team that seems more keen on keeping the score down than winning games. Shameful. So many new players needed but who will take Redmond, Walcott, Elyounoussi, Armstrong, Bednarek, McCarthy?
  5. This game shows the full ineptitude of the current Saints squad. Absolutely zero cutting edge and no creativity in the final third whatsoever. Oh for a Tadic like player and a striker like Pelle.
  6. Not with that s***e that's for sure. Play 4 at the back and 2 up front. Play a LB at LB, not let Elyonoussi anywhere near the starting XI (just not good enough or have enough pace). Give Olaigbe a place on the bench (at least) and maybe 1 or 2 of the others. We are not going to finish higher and may well finish one place lower. But that lineup is so negative with zero creativity. Stuart Armstrong has had a terrible season, one goal apart, and the lack of youngsters on the bench but with a bunch of 'fillers' such as Djenepo, Walcott and Long there instead makes absolutely no sense.
  7. With yet another terrible line up and head scratching bench, thank you for all your efforts Ralph but the time is right for you to leave. You have taken this terrible team as far as you can and it has now become embarrassing.
  8. What kind of deluded line-up is that? I've been very much in the 'stick with Ralph' camp but no more. Adam Armstrong has been given a poisoned chalice there: no creativity yet he is expected to be the 1 up top. Redmond should not be in the squad, let alone the team and Elyounoussi is so far off the required level it's not funny. What a depressing end to the season. What's up with the absence of Broja and what on earth has Adams done wrong? Walcott and Djenepo on the bench? Surely some of the youngsters would be a better bet on the bench? Same old rubbish and the end of the season cannot come quick enough.
  9. Utterly daft comment - he is completely irreplaceable.
  10. Really important summer ahead. Easy to say 'get rid of the deadwood' but who on earth would buy, for example, Walcott? Ideally, outgoings would include: Long, Walcott, Elyounoussi, Bednarek, Djeneppo, McCarthy But no idea who we could bring in. We are not exactly an attractive proposition right now
  11. First time I've heard the fans chant "you don;t know what you're doing".....but my god, they're right
  12. LOL - what a shambles. Absolute disgrace of a performance again: wtf are Redmond, Roi, Armstrongs x2, Diallo, Bednarek doing in the first XI? Try something different for crying out loud. Pathetic does not do this squad justice. Look like world beaters for a 1/3 of the season and absolute dross for the remaining 2/3. Rinse and repeat every season
  13. Cannot believe we are keeping McCarthy and letting Forster go. Unbelievable
  14. wtf.......senseless. The last few weeks show up the limitations of Ralph and why he will never be a top manager. Simply awful game plan, lineup and substitution.
  15. Disgraceful performance - utterly disgraceful. We have collapsed - deja vu here. How on earth does Tino start every game. Bednarek?
  16. Wow, when the wheels come off they really come off. Awful today (same as the last 2 games where we were hopeless) - from the manager trying to be too clever with the starting line-up through to the players who looked clueless. Teams have well and truly worked us out again - give use the ball, pack the midfield and know we have no creativity. I would have Stephens over Bednarek every day of the week. As well as we played for 12-15 games we have played hopelessly in the last 3. Will we get any more points this season (of course we will but not if we play like the last 3 games)?
  17. Oh well the good streak is well and truly over and now we are starting the bad streak! Never dull being a Saints fan.
  18. Wow, your continued anger issues and Tourettes really need some professional help.
  19. OMG - RIP. 52! No words to describe the sadness I feel
  20. Fair play to you - I think your reaction to the team news was the same as pretty much everyones! One thing I've learnt with Ralph is to wait and see how it pans out. Never a dull moment as a Saints fan and the squad confidence and morale must be through the roof! Great selection problems for Ralph to have!
  21. LOL - at all the folks saying what a terrible team, etc before a ball was kicked! I would have hoped we would have all learned our lessons by now and that Saints are made of sterner stuff these days!
  22. As comfortable a win as Saints will ever have. As others have said, it felt as though Saints were playing well within themselves and, if needed, the pace and slick passing seen the last couple of months could have been raised a notch or two. 2 home games, 2 clean sheets and 1 shot on goal in those games.....this is a very different Saints side these days and long may it continue. The 2 full backs were exceptional, Che worked his butt off and, as said last weekend, is there a better midfield partnership right now than Romeu and JWP? Thought Broja was very poor again and should have squared for Che instead of going for goal. He really would benefit from staying at Saints (loan or buy) as he is still very raw and, while having incredible potential, needs to be at a club where he can learn and improve without the big club pressure. Lets hope this run continues until the end of the season!
  23. "Regarding Adams and JWP, I’m happy to admit since my criticism of them, they’ve both improved. I still think JWP is vastly overrated on here but so, so. " Please tell me you are joking about JWP? If not, you are seriously in need of help. I think any team in the Prem would be improved with JWP in it. Alongside Romeu, this pairing are formidable right now.
  24. I recall in the summer many lauding Leicester's transfer dealings. Boot is on the other foot now....Leicester going backwards and Saints on the up.
  25. Good god! Why the micro analysis of every word uttered by Semmens. It was a heartwarming interview that shows we are (once again) being run as a well organized, structured club with a plan and a vision. It all went wrong for us last time out when Les Reed announced the strategy had changed and we started signing older, more experienced players that (on the whole) were totally duff signings. We believed our own hype. Me - I'm going to enjoy the beautiful brand of football we are playing right now (is there any team playing a more attractive style?) and not worry about what may or may not happen in 2 years time. Enjoy the moment - we all know it could come to a grinding halt at any time!
