CONFIRMED: Rodriguez ruptures ACL - out for SIX months
redder freak replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Nice one Jay. Looking forward to having you back next season. At least he's out of the 'sell all best Southampton players and manager' media hysteria spotlight at the moment. -
Frank de Boer says Tottenham have not contacted him about their vacant managerial position. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/27550337

Obviously we need to get enough money to replace anyone who goes. Otherwise we're selling at a loss. Like when Rupert was in charge. And look where that took us. My mate's a Spurs fan. He said we're going down next season!
-
If I were on the Board (in my fantasy football world!), I would want to wait until after the World Cup before making any serious squad changes. If we're going to sell players, then we need to have a succession plan in place to improve on what we've got. The World Cup will be a shop window with everyone watching to decide who to sell and buy, depending on individual performances. You also have to consider the psychological effect on the team of damaging it and changing its balance. Take advice from the manager on that. Please, no knee-jerk reactions of taking the money and running. There's plenty of time at the moment. Play the poker game. Maybe that's what they're doing.

If £47m isn't enough to replace them then it's not enough.
-
More astute spending than Spurs please. Onwards and upwards!
-
I remember the Esso coins too. Will we get some with Adam Rickie and Luke on I wonder?

Seemed a bit like a practice game -
I agree. I think it's bound to come to football sooner or later. The sooner the better as far as I'm concerned.
-
Lately his goals remind me of MLT. Compared to Rodriguez he looks so slow and you think why doesn't someone catch him as he languidly turns past them and controls the ball. Then he smashes it into the net or flicks it on a plate for someone else.

Thanks, all of those goals are quality. -

Proud to be a happy clappy today! -
I fancy Rickie to score one and assist one.

Well said

If we want to improve on Rodriguez, we need Giroud, Toure or Remy. Rickie Lambert could be our Emile Heskey, although I think he's better than that.

Poor quality pitch but still managed to control the game. Impressive stuff. -
Rodriguez, Rodriguez it was really nothing
-
Shame he left Saints. Think where we could be with him and Walcott playing for us today.
-
No. Having watched the Champions League tonight I can see where we want to be. I think we should press onwards and upwards in the last phase of the season, while the teams above us with more competitions and games to play have their squad depth tested.
-
Brown didn't win the ball. He just about touched it. Gaston was still in control of the ball and could have scored when Brown took him out.
-
Osvaldo didn't play against Arsenal and we did ok with what we've got. Arsenal are quite a good team, so that augurs well for the rest of the season. Then we can strengthen in the summer.
-
On reflection I agree. Arsenal were ****. Sort it out Wenger!
-
2 points dropped. Should have nailed it in the second half. Knew Saints would tire but we didn't press home the advantage. What was Flamini doing FFS. Just hope Citeh don't take the opportunity catch us now.

Good point against a decent Arsenal side.
