Mark Hughes and Nigel Adkins are going to do a job swap. You heard it here first.
-
Enjoyed the game. I thought the result could easily have gone either way. They were lucky to get away with the handball in the build-up to their first goal. Rickie's half volley off the bar was class and would have been a brilliant goal if it had gone in. He held the ball up well too, well done to Nigel for keeping him on the pitch the full 90. I agree that Gaston looked a bit rusty. Good support for the team and Nigel. I thought it was a positive atmosphere, despite the defeat. Onwards and upwards. These next few home games against the lower Premier league teams are going to be crucial.

Adkins Interview On Whether The Club have Given Him Any Assurances
redder freak replied to Gemmel's topic in The Saints
He's realistic and positive, as usual. He knows he'll be about of a job if we don't get results. So will Cortese. He also knows that he could probably quite easily get another job if he has to, managing another club. Nigel being Nigel, he would cross that bridge when he comes to it. He's done it before. -
Well I'm going to this one and I'm expecting us to win.

Everton managed to concede 2 goals this afternoon and got a draw against Liverpool. Come on you reds!
-
Mark Hughes - perhaps we could do a swap with QPR?
-
I wasn't at the game. Having seen the 'highlights' on Saints Player, I feel better than I did from listening to the game and reading people's comments. I think Boruc should have saved both of the first two goals. Adkins said he expected Boruc to dominate the 6 yard box, but he did anything but for those two goals. I want Kelvin back please!

Another experimental formation failure.
-
What I meant was, it won't be enough to make people happy.
-
Equal top with Arsenal on red and yellow cards and equal top with Everton on positive attacking football. COYRs!
-
I think we'll win. Even if we do, it won't be enough for some people on this forum.
-
If Cortese sacks him I reckon we'll definitely be relegated.

Much better defensive performance than against Everton. Tactical slog against a solid top 10 Premier League side, with some of our key players (Ramirez, Clyne) missing. Could easily have won it if their keeper had been sent off for his foul on Puncheon, instead of the goal being disallowed for his dive.

I worry that JWP is more of an attacking midfielder (like Lallana), when what we really need is another defensive midfielder.

How many tactical mistakes is Adkins allowed?

This looks interesting to me, especially for an away game. In his post-match interview I seem to remember that Yoshida was critical of the midfield on Saturday. -
Saints 2 Man United 3 - Post Match Reactions

Wigan aside we've just played two of the best sides in England and we're furious that we lost. I take some positives from that. 35 games to go. This team will only get better. -
They've got it all wrong. It's actually Villas-Boas we're in for, not Redknapp. But Adkins is better than both.

Hilarious!

I've got a 1976 FA Cup winners' mug I use at work. I think I've had it since about 1980.

We could have been promoted by Christmas.
-
Have a hunch Lambert may be rested to let him recover for the Reading game. Guly up front with Sharp? He scored a brace against Palace on boxing day.
-
Lacking confidence today in the final third of the pitch. Possibly we could have started with a more attacking formation, with Schneiderlin in a four-man midfield instead of holding him back in front of the back four and immediately behind Cork? Perhaps we showed them too much respect, knowing they're an attacking team. And why was Nigel sitting so close to Ian Holloway? Come on Nigel do your stuff, sort it out for the next game please!

Great pictures thank you. -
Lallana obviously hasn't yet learned the Premiership diving technique so exquisitely demonstrated by Noble.
