  1. If we're getting a new manager who's better than Pardew then there are your 8 choices, in black and white.
  2. The Mail story could be wishful thinking on the part of those who don't want to see Saints succeed, to stir up feeling against Pardew. I agree that it would be a disaster for the club if he left in the summer. It would mean yet another manager taking a couple of months to gel with the players and build team morale. Another lost season with another manager who would probably fail, because it's hard to imagine a better manager than Pardew at League 1 level. Unless perhaps we could persuade Alex Ferguson to join Saints. His job must be under pressure, like Pardew. Man U have only won a tin-pot trophy this season, the same as Saints. HCDAJFU at this level, IMO.
  3. Tried too late for a ticket so I watched it in a pub on a mega screen with my son and some other Saints fans (how many are there?) in Exeter. Fantastic win. Good times.
  4. Same goal difference as Charlton now.
  5. Could we offer to buy Papa Bouba Diop? perhaps that would help their financial situation, like when we sold Andrew Surman. Two Papas.
  6. Such as Evra, Anderson, Ronaldo, Berbatov etc. Manchester United is the richest club in the world. That gives them an advantage over the poorer clubs.
  7. He's never won the League 1 or Championship titles. I'm not convinced that he would cope at this level. He's used to being able to buy the most expensive players in the world.
  8. I'm pleased with a draw, Manchester United style in the 96th minute. Alex Ferguson is regarded as a good manager, even though he gets lucky sometimes. You make your own luck, as they say. The match statistics (16 corners to their 8, 14 shots to their 9) suggest that we deserved the draw.
  9. First away draw. Always look on the bright side.
  10. and Bale
  11. Boots on the other foot now. Remember Shearer, Bridge, Crouch, Walcot, Niemi, Jones, Surman.
  12. Delirious!!!

    Surman

    Too good for us now.
  14. I agree. At least we could get continuity for a few months until we try out the next manager or two like, we usually do. Usually no one stays around long at saints, let's face it!
  15. Like the previous 8 fresh starts, full of hope then it goes tits up and get rid.
  16. Don't panic Mr Mainwaring! Hopefully this is worth waiting for. And I am full of hope... what else is there?
  17. Just doing his job as the manager of the football club. It's in the club's interests to get a good chairman. I think he deserves a cahnce in League 1. It could be the making of him and I agree with the above posting that he seems to get on with the players. We want to hit the ground running next season, not take half the season to get going with a new manager and players, like we usually do.
  18. So where do they get their money from? How are they structured. That's what I mean.
  19. Barcelona easily beat what is probably Manchester United's best ever team. See http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/2009/05/07/simply-the-best-115875-21338326/ Saints would do very well to take a few tips from Barcelona.
  20. Presumably Abramovitch could change his mind like Barclay's bank did when they called in their loan to Saints? He doesn't have to bail out Chelsea if he doesn't want to. They better keep on licking his boots if they know what's best for them!
  21. £500k sounds like a reasonable deposit to show that they mean business and aren't 'men of straw'. If you want to buy a car, a house or a holiday you usually have to put a substantial non-returnable deposit down in advance.
  22. Where's Jimmy Hone when we need him? He'd sort this lot out. A wise businessman is what we need, to talk some sense! Bring back the golden era of 2006-8.
  23. I think we should give him a chance. He was in Poortvliet's shadow most of last season. At the level of salary we can afford he seems like good value to me.
  24. Surely the fairest thing would be for Stockport to have the -10 applied next season, same as us.
  25. We've had 11 managers in the last 5 years. Looks like it could soon be 12. Does continuity matter? Only if you've got Alex Ferguson I guess.
