So far, Puel has had a win rate similar to Laurie McMenemy and Glenn Hoddle. Yes, seen it again now. Gabbiadini nearly got to the ball but missed it. As you say, Kompany vaulted over Yoshida's shoulders to gain extra height and push him down.

Looked to me like poor marking in the box for their 2 headed goals. Gabbiadini was marking Kompany (why Gabbiadini?) for the first goal and Aguero is too short to be winning those headers against our centre halves. Have a hunch VVD would have been more dominant, but maybe not? Who knows. Puel said the players were too nervous. We've seen that before. Too much respect. Somebody should have scored for Saints (Tadic anybody?) and that might have got the confidence up.

Agreed. I think video technology will favour the less popular and fashionable clubs like Saints because the majority fans, famous managers and the media won't be able to influence decisions like they can now.

I think Puel expects the whole squad to perform when they get the chance. He can't afford to rely on a few key players, with the physical and mental fitness demands of the modern game and the frequency of games to be played. This interesting match cruelly exposed the lack of depth in the squad on some areas of the pitch and where it needs improving. Personally, I would say particularly at right back (Martina) and attacking midfield (Isgrove). Although I'm strictly an armchair grandad plastic pundit with little chance of getting a Wembley ticket.
