Liverpool EFL Cup Semi First Leg Buildup
Golac's Iron Gonads replied to St Chalet's topic in The Saints
I think the last few league games have provided plenty of substance for my pessimism. Is it 5 shots on target in 270 minutes of football? I really hope you enjoy the game, because for me there has been no enjoyment, apart from Jay's goal at Bournemouth, since we drew at home to the mighty Beer Scheva. -
Liverpool EFL Cup Semi First Leg Buildup

We won't win. The best result we will get is a draw and then we'll get thumped up there. Only our 4th semi final in 40 years but I'm not even going to bother setting my alarm for 5 a.m. Did that 6 times for Europa games. You can stick it right up your ****ing arris Saints! PREDICITON: 0-3 tie over before the return leg. The only positive? We'll be able to rest our star players for that game and not risk them getting injured before we sell them in the summer. -
doubled the money in my betting account, going to do the same again with a Saints not to win at Norwich bet. Could get a nice holiday out of this. I will need it to try and forget how abject we've been most of the season.

surely time for James Ward Prowse!

in. Most games we are typically playing 3 players upfront that have barely played a dozen games together. It'll take time for the team to gel attacking wise. I'd give Puel at least until the midway point of next season and then see how we are doing (though, even then, he'll most likely be rebuilding the defence after the summer sales).

I haven't seen any, I try to avoid interviews with footballers/managers. But I'll take your word for it, I'm surprised because he always seemed such a miserable git on the field, even when he got his record breaking hat-trick or inspired the Liverpool comeback.

only time I've seen the bloke smile.

**** this I'm not wasting another 2 hours watching this cobblers. Episode 2 of Atlanta or 3 of Stag seems far more enticing. Enjoy your football.

Anyone give a flying **** about this one? I'm currently looking for a bookie that will give me odds on Ramirez to score with Boro's solitary shot on goal sometime in the second half and Southampton having 62% of possession, 7 corners and 1 shot on target. I'm being very specific in the hope of getting good odds.

After all the effort to qualify for the thing last season has it been worth it? Have you enjoyed any of it or has it been a waste of time? When the groups were drawn, I thought we had a chance of getting through the group. I thought the dangers were Inter and Sparta. After the first round of games I thought we'd breeze it. I don't live in Europe at the moment so I've been waking up at 4a.m and 2a.m to watch what have been mostly very boring and disappointing games, the exception being Inter at home. Did traveling to the away games make it any better or did it make it worse? Team selections have been frustrating, I feel if we'd played our first team in the first 3 matches we'd have been in a position to rest players for the last two and have got through to the last 32. Did any of the rotated players benefit? I can't remember a performance from any of the players brought into the team for Europa games impressing enough for people to clamour for their inclusion at the weekend. I've got to go to work now, but from my point of view the whole Europa venture has been a waste of time, for fans, players and casual viewers. Even Consortium11 doesn't bother writing about it in the Guardian comments section. Not sure I'd want us to bother qualifying again, it's been bloody tedious.

I'd like to see Yoshida sit this one out. He's been great for us this season, barely put a foot wrong and I can see exactly what that's building up to. Bring him on if we get 3 goals up.

Long misses, should have scored, but you've got to be there to miss 'em and he was in the right place.
-
because they play different positions? Because Boufal is going to play against Palace? Because Long needs to get his mojo back?
-
Shame that, as for me Reed and Boufal have been outstanding
-
Should have scored more, but I'm happy with a much needed win. Austin man of the match for me. Though Hojbjerg, Cedric and Bertrand all had good games.

I've yet to witness, in my 35 years of watching football, booing your own team to have a positive affect. In fact I've seen it spread cautious play, fear, and occasionally (from a more passionate player) a reckless challenge leading to a red card. The booing of opposition players similarly inspires them to play the game of their lives, the times Ronaldo has been out of this world when being booed for Man Utd. Not that I would have clapped Saints off in Prague, I'd have silently left on the whistle, blocked the toilets and sinks in the bogs and turned all the taps on.

I'd give Rodriguez a full season before writing him off, we only need to see flashes of what he had before and then judge him next season. I'm happy to see him getting plating time in these Europa EFL cup games. It's going to take more than 20 games for him to get anywhere near what he was. -
We have tended to sign older forwards of late,(wasn't Pelle 29?) so I don't buy into the 'he doesn't fit our business model' argument. I'd definitely have him on loan with a view to a buy. I'd rather we offered 25 million for Rashford though.
