  1. I think the hardest part of the new year will be pacing this thread so that the 50,000th post on the 1000th page happens at a suitable time (but given that its contents will almost certainly be something like 'Wooo 50,000th post' the actual post will probably not be one to record for posterity).
  2. The thing that I find most annoying is that a large number of important issues affecting those in rural area's of which fox hunting is the least of the problems but that any organisation trying to raise awareness of these 'countryside' issues is hijacked by the 'pro hunting' elements and all we hear from these people is about hunting. Does anyone remember the "Countryside Alliance" going on about anything besides fox hunting? Its this stifling of these other issues by putting fox hunting to the front and centre that is annoying. I grew up 'up in the downs', a fox hunt visited once a year and had minimal impact (besides even more inconsiderate than usual parking) compared to the disappearance throughout the years of local amenities that ended up causing my mother to move.

  5. But who would be stupid enough to provide good or services to them at the moment without payment in advance?
  6. A seasonal song for pompey?
  7. +1 on that.
  8. What I find funny is that certain elements of the press are so used to complaining about the BBC that they do this.... Daily Telegraph News @TelegraphNews VIDEO: Watch the Tim Minchin song that the BBC cut from Jonathan Ross Christmas Special…
  9. Apple have rather put their foot in it with their initial attempt to ban the galaxy tab on the ground it had rounded corners and the icons were arranged in a grid. Not only have they taken on a company with a large patent collection but they have also given a lot of free publicity to the galaxy tab. Something that Samsung are happy to play on...
  10. Simon Cowell
  11. Hopefully Cardiff and Boro will draw (with more luck down to 9 men each)
  12. To take the licence analogy a bit further maybe they could say that any new owner has a probationary period of say a year or so and during that time the club will be under increased scrutiny with someone from the league in place actually at the club to make sure that nothing untoward was happening. (Yes I know people like Ho go on about the scrutiny that pompey were under and that this still happened but I don't think the FA/League/whoever have someone in their employ actually at FP instead they just have to cast their eyes over whatever the club is forced to send them which is, I suspect a fraction of all the financial information they have).
  13. Well I am off to eat, drink and be merry with my local Labour MEP later today. Does not p*ss me off but it might others!
  14. You missed of ' a month' from the end of that.
  15. Looks like the extradition could take a while: http://twitter.com/#!/pn_Rory_McKeown sorted into order
  16. My thoughts entirely. Would he prefer to regain ownership of pompey and their bestestest fans or have his money?
  17. It appears he handed over the train set based on a guarantee from Snoras bank. When that went belly up he put in a charge on CSI for what he was owed.
  18. Suspect his charge against CSI as the bank was collapsing means he will be a secured creditor and will get it all. Notice in that article that the WRC rights cost antonov 30 Million so if AA can sell that company for even half that then chainrai will get all his money back. I guess a chain of events (excluding possibly illegal coordination) went something like: Chainrai agrees to sell to CSI and take a % interest rate ahead of immediate payment backed by Snoras bank guarantee Becomes obvious Snoras in trouble so Chainrai gets a charge against CSI for the money owed him for pompey CSI being just a holding company through which Antonov's money passes does not have that much money itself so goes into admin. Question is what other sorts of debts did CSI have to contribute towards the admin? As a holding company mainly used to channel Antonovs money would there actually be many other creditors?
  19. Personally I hide in front of the keyboard as behind the keyboard is where the monitors are and I would not be able to see them and type so a silly place to hide. Anyway a more interesting (or more likely not) thread would be for people to explain what part of their psyche is represented by their avatar. In my case its my love of a bad pun as my current one dates back to the dark days when posters were often being accused of being PR plants so I decided to make my avatar out of plants.
  20. I fear this report does appear to contradict Ho's claim that 5 million of the 10.8 went to Chainrai as part of the payment for buying the club. Ho wrong, who would have thought it!! http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-12-16/cash-crisis-returns-to-haunt-english-soccer-club-as-banker-owner-in-court.html I wonder when the 8% payment is due though (Though I guess that's to be paid by CSI who purchased pompey not the club itself)? Does the fact that Chainrai sold to CSI, even if he has got no money for it, mean most of the money due to him is now the responsibility of CSI not pompey?
  21. A +1 on the transformer. Have one and its v good.
  22. Which reports are those? Don't think I have seen anything about some of it being used to pay Chainrai. Why would it go through the club anyway as buying the club was a deal between CSI and Chainrai so payments should come directly from CSI one would assume, why pay it to the club for them to pass on?
  23. This is all we have to go on really in terms of Chainrai's current involvement
  24. I think from one of reports early from their fan's meeting Lumpit that they had run out of CSI money and that they were getting money loaned to them from Chainrai to keep going?
  25. Sorry, are you trying to say that you think that if the 10.8 million you got from Antonov was stolen that you can just keep it? The wheels of financial justice run slower than those of criminal justice. Do not be too sure that other members of the EU do not have routes available to recover stolen assets. Just because nothing has happened yet does not mean nothing will happen at all.
