  1. Forecast, Pulis, Ted Bates statue Mk1 - when we make mistakes we make whoppers. A sell on clause for Bale would have seen us cash in big style - we get a keeper that didn't even see action when we were in League One.

    Wigan v Swansea

Well bugger me! (Don't.) I wasn't expecting that! Well done Swansea but on seeing the highlights Wigan shot themselves in the foot with their defending. Awful stuff! That's that then. Wigan won't beat Arsenal, not with their injuries and having to play two massive games in basically 3 days. Whether they win on the last day of the season or not, I can't see them getting more than 38 points. Even a win and a draw for them and we'd be safe on goal difference - and this is all speculation that we won't get another point. Which I think we will. 6 points now could mean 11th, and we'll wonder what we've all been worrying about! (Though personally I think we'll either get 3 or 4.)
  3. I would like our midfield to score more goals than they do, especially Lallana who's made his name as a goalscoring midfielder really, but Puncheon's goal against Chelsea in Adkins' last game does stick in the memory. I'm surprised Punch isn't getting more of a look in at present.

    Wigan v Swansea

All signs tonight point to a Wigan win. Their form, Swansea's form, Swansea's safety... I'll be cheering on the Welsh. Come on Swansea!
  5. Happy, as long as in the third minute of injury time we long balled the ball up to Rickie to head in for a sneaky 1-0 win. Beat them with their own weapon.
  6. Looking at the fixtures, Newcastle and Norwich are really in the shyte. Norwich can't score goals and Newcastle are badly out of form. We'll survive, but it won't be as comfortable as it looked a few weeks ago. A win at Sunderland would be MASSIVE.
  7. We will win. Don't ask me how I know, I just do. I will laugh, dance around, and rub some stinky, pooey, skidmarked pants in Di Canio's smug face. Seriously though, While I'm still confident with 39 points and a decent enough goal difference, I still think 41 will guarantee safety. That's two draws. I'd take a draw from this game.
  8. I think we'll easily finish on 44 points. :-)
  9. From the bench? That'd be impressive. Typical Saints doing it the hard way. To be fair though, this was a free shot and we've played well. Still safe, but we need something from the last two games to do it confidently. Still wish Wigan would bugger off though.
  10. Good news, the crown jewels are ours for keeps, especially Shaw who we'll be sweating about signing the contract when he turns 18. I still think it would have been a tough ask to keep hold of most of them had we gone down, Schneiderlin and Shaw in particular would have got bigger teams salivating. Hands off now, they're ours.
  11. I certainly wouldn't want mid-table monotony year in year out a la Stoke, (though of course it's preferable to relegation) I'd like to think we aim a bit higher than that, but if we were to finish tenth this season (and we still harbour a chance of that) then I'd rather do it by moving up the league than dropping down it from a higher position.
  12. 17th is still a decent season if you consider safety as our aim, but it would be a huge anticlimax considering our recent form. I think we'll get another 3 or so points, which should see us finish 14th/15th. Any higher would be a fantastic achievement. Perhaps with rose tinted specs, but we're better than Norwich, Sunderland and Stoke so hopefully we'll finish above them. Even Fulham have stuttered of late and of course Newcastle have been in poor form, so even 12th. Is a top ten finish out of our grasp now? Well it depends on what we get from Spurs...
  13. You can't please everybody all the time. FWIW I don't mind the current kit - yes we're traditionally stripes, and hopefully we'll see them again, but the odd change is OK. My favourite strip was the sash, for instance.
  14. Jesus! (It's his third coming, the second was missed by all.) I'd like to think Markus had dropped in on training to see the fruit of his investment, but I doubt he'd be wearing trainers. (Unless they have strange rules in heaven.)

    Done.
  16. I'm not sure about realistic but Eliseu would be a cracking signing from Malaga, who've done very well despite their financial frailties. He's a lightning quick left back/left midfielder who can score goals, and he's 29, so not a long term disruptor to Shaw's progress. I do see Pochettino going back to Spain to sign a few people - and I do think we're in for a surprising and very exciting summer transfer-wise.
  17. Alex Ostlund living up to his nickname?
  18. We won't go down, but after villa's win tonight there's a real possibilty we could finish 17th. Which would be a massive anticlimax after the season we've had. Just a few more points, 3 or 4, would probably see us finish 12th-14th, though my predo is 15th. 9 points though would see us finish top half. Let's GET THEM!
  19. Lose the next two but win on the last day. 42 points, probably finish 15th.
  20. Sad news. RIP Kevin.

I think his biggest mistake was not bringing in Nigel Quashie. :-) Or is Jenas the new Quashie?

  23. No Fox, no Ramirez. Is this a good thing? Questions need to be asked about the performance against WBA, but I do believe we have a manager who'll give the lads a ruddy good rollocking and get them to up their performance against Spurs. What do we reckon of the team? Will Shaw be fit? Will Forren get his debut? Puncheon in? For me, if Shaw's fit and Cork didn't get a knock, I'd actually keep the same team as yesterday but with Shaw at left back. Which means keeping faith in Jos. I must be radio rental. But then I'm not picking the team. Scoreline predictions too please. I reckon Mr Bale will tear us a new one, but with an improved performance we'll only lose by the odd goal in 3. 2-1 Spuds.
  24. Junior Hoilett is still young and with the right tuition and a good team around him I feel he could be a good player for the future. I haven't seen enough of Remy since he joined to suggest he'd be a good signing, his cracking goal against Wigan aside. Otherwise, no. I wouldn't touch Reading's players with a bargepole. Weren't we linked to Granero a while ago?

    El Crappico

Goodbye to both. What a dire game of football. I genuinely tuned in today to watch the match hoping to see an open, goal laden game with both throwing caution to the wind and playing for pride. I should've known. It was a terrible game with a real lack of quality that perfectly highlighted why both clubs are going down. QPR just edged it if you had to decide it on points (a la Boxing) but the Premier League will be richer for not having these two in it next season. I'm not fussed with QPR so much, aside from glee from seeing Redknapp damage his CV again, but I'm not a fan of Reading with the number of friends and acquaintances I have that were suddenly Reading fans earlier in the season and who now have gone quiet. Watching how QPR deal with the amount of money they have spent on transfers and wages next season will make interesting viewing. How long will Fernandes stick it out? One spot left...
