Come on lads, where's the intensity!
-
FK Saints outside the box. Where's Ryan?
-
Their intricate passing is better than ours. Their attacking intent is better than ours. We can only hope they knacker themselves out and we can finish them off, otherwise we can only hope that at best this ends a draw.
-
Yeah not great that. We had a couple of decent attacks and half chances but then Watford came into the came more and we looked like were the away team. Downes was having a good game so it was a shame he went off. Hopefully Charles can dominate things more in the second half. 1-0 win with a Larin goal still on the cards! 😀
-
Ooh shame that didn't fall right for Ross
-
Watford more in it now, we seem to have forgotten we can attack. Take the 0-0 at half time and go again in the second half.
-
Charles coming on for Flynn
-
Flynn Down
-
Captain Jack on a mazy run and then out of position.
-
Yep. You can see why they're in play-off contention. But I don't think we've looked bad either. We just need to get our noses in front somehow.
-
Watford shoot wide. End to end this, some reasonable build up play from us but lacking final balls.
-
Jander thrown to the ground unceremoniously. FK Saints.
-
Barring a continued, consistent, upturn in form I can't see us doing it either. But I do think a top half finish is probable. What would be gutting is to finish one or two points behind 6th and wondering 'What If' we'd beaten the Skates even once...
-
Yep, but you would have Downes, Jander and Charles before him anyway. Romeu is the odd one, I'm not quite sure why we brought him in with Charles close to a return, although of course perhaps we weren't to know how Bragg would turn out at the time. Still hopefully his influence behind the scenes can be positive, and with injuries or suspensions both Oriol and Bragg might yet see some game time. And Sesay - he seemed close to the first team at the start of the season, I'm surprised he wasn't loaned out in the window.
-
Welcome back Sam. Unchanged and the bench looks strong (plus Manning 😀).
-
Unchanged I hope. Peretz, Bree, THB, Jack, Welington, Downes, Jander, Fellows, Azaz, Scienza, Stewart with Cyle coming off the bench. Let's make it 10 points from 4 games and keep the good form going. That sixth spot is still catchable and beating Watford drags them to within one point of us.
-
And Alex McCarthy's testimonial if he decides to have one! Ten years this year. 😁
-
We put a lot of faith in him after bringing him in by immediately loaning out our existing number 1. It showed great faith in the young man that he could come in and immediately be our number 1 for the season - I hope, if he continues to do well, that it is rewarded long term with him wanting to stay, especially if he is getting first team football at the age of 25 (still fairly young for a GK) and it keeps him in contention to be Israel's number 1 too. There's still a lot of the season for him to potentially make mistakes but I, for one, already feel more confident with him in goal than the previous incumbent for that position. EDIT - of course if he does continue to do well, we all know bigger clubs will be eyeing him up.
-
SR aren't great but we could be in worse situations. At least we're relatively stable financially, even if the squad quality and league position has dropped during their tenure.
-
Wednesday are down, Oxford probables, that leaves one place for the rest. Leicester have just enough individual talent to be ok, WBA might buck their ideas up too. I think Blackburn are in trouble but, oh look, there's Pompey. We can only hope.
-
If you fail in your appeal, we will punish you further... *checks Southampton's squad list* ...with Ryan Manning.
-
Blackburn just scrape a win against Wednesday - WBA now in the drop zone and their forum is very worried. Also from having a read through, they seem to think Charlie Taylor's legs have gone.
-
Only twice has AA ever broken 20 goals in one season at this level, once with us in our promotion season and once with Blackburn. This idea that he's consistently prolific at this level is skewed by a couple of good seasons and by the importance of his play-off goal. I think £7 million (+) for someone who sort of relies on his pace and will be 30 during the season Wolves have bought him for, is decent business but maybe that's just me. I think the issue with this is that people are concerned about the replacement scoring goals. Had we gone out and signed someone well known for scoring goals, I think AA's sale would come across as less of an issue. Larin probably isn't the long term answer but he's only here for 5 months.

Who would clubs want from a middling Championship team? THB and Ramsdale for sure. Jander and Scienza perhaps. Fellows may have admirers, Charles perhaps. Beyond that I struggle to see any of our players that wanted by other clubs. I think we definitely sell THB and Ramsdale if we don't go up, keeping everyone else remotely classed as a "jewel" and building around them would be our best bet to getting a side together for a promotion. But with people wanting Aribo, Downs, Larios, Bazunu, Fraser, BBD etc - I guess you never really know what players a team is looking for. Hell, someone could even come in and pay for Manning! 😀
