It is interesting that VVD never gets a mention here nor in the press. He has an almost languid gait that is somewhat deceptive, as he is a brick wall, but to me he is our best and most consistent player

I know what I said, but I don't go bedwetting all the time like you seem to do. Moan at this, moan at that at every single chance you get. Sometimes when things are going badly, it would be refreshing if you didn't have to gleefully tell us all about it.

Cue St. Charlie being his usual pessimistic self. Look at it this way old boy, at least the youngsters are doing ****, as you currently can't whinge too much about the 1st XI (although wait until we lose at Arsenal and you can be back on form).

Hard for him to lose something he never had in the first place.

Is losing to Saints really the last straw for Louis van Gaal ?
angelman replied to david in sweden's topic in The Saints
I have to admit that I do as well. OK, that is tempered by the fact that he is earning millions but I don't like kicking a man when he is down - and he is down. It started off with far too much pomposity and he needed to be taken down a peg or two and given that it was Utd, everyone was eagerly anticipating failure with gay abandon. The bigger you are etc etc. Utd's solution to everything was to spend spend spend. Something not right, spend a bit more. So £250m later (OK, maybe they have cashed in £100m) and they are no further forward than they were, which I think is "funny". -

Not that I really care whether he goes or not - actually prefer him to stay as at this rate, we could finish above them - but apparently he cancelled training yesterday and went to Netherlands, leaving Giggs to take training today. -

Has he gone yet? No. But as MUFC is listed on the NYSE, it might have to wait until they are open. -

exactly. No one ever gets sacked for losing one match. We might be the straw that breaks the camel's back, but there is a lot of weight already on that back. -
Because it wasn't his debut.

Is the question really about how we are perceived in the media and in sporting terms? Last season, no, there was no ignominy involved as we were flying at the beginning. This season, we have had our slump, so people in the press might have underestimated us and thought we were a busted flush, instead turning their favour on other "smaller" clubs - Leicester (naturally), West Ham and Stoke, now that Palace and Watford are in the midst of their sticky patches. This seemed very much to be the case during the last transfer window when Stoke and Palace in particular were making some decent signings and then started well. So is it bad that MU lost to us? To them yes, as they do not expect to lose to anyone, let alone a small club. There is realism that you are unlikely to win every game, but the ones they lose are against (supposed) fellow title rivals, which we aren't. If you spend £250m, you don't expect to lose to smaller teams. -
When you say we have beaten 3 poor sides in a row, do you not think that the way we play might stifle teams and make them look bad, or worse than they are? While I am not going to say Utd are a great team, the radio commentators said that we had set up and strangled Utd and that Utd had no way of breaking us down and credit to us for that. As for teams in form, before Watford turned up they weren't too bad - P8, W5, D1, L2 - the draw away at Chelsea and the loses at home to Spuds and City.

But there was a different feeling around the club with regards the academy players. They may only have gotten on to the bench or on the pitch for a minute or two, but you could look down and think "hey, it looks good that the next crop is coming along nicely". But now, you look down and think whether anyone is going to come through and are any ready for the 1st XI now? Am I the only one who thinks like this? Maybe I'm wrong and maybe there is a bit of revisionism going on. Taking things as they stand today, Reed might well be the only one, but would you have him over any of those who currently occupy the midfield? Having said that, we did have 2 academy players yesterday in Targett and JWP on the pitch, so all is not lost. Targett was brought through in to the PL by RK, and lately seems to be first choice in the 3-5-2 (or whatever it is) formation. Being pragmatic about things, and acknowledging the competition that you face in the PL, maybe 2 or 3 is the most one can realistically expect. While it would be lovely (and make sense business wise) to have 50%+, that is a little unrealistic.

For £25m, I would expect a little more than that TBH. Sure it won the game, but isn't that his first league goal this season (against a very poor team (that beat us)).

Shows how slow I am that I didn't realise that Austin was an anagram of U SAINT until I saw a tweet.

Reading the press, they are very begrudging in how well we played. R5 were also begrudging but did say that we closed shop and made it so hard for them, that they were found wanting for a way through. Forster and the back 3 have been brilliant in the past 3 games and haven't allowed other teams to play the way they want. Long may this last, but.....

Was in the motor until the last 10 minutes, and they said Fellani's (sp) challenge was "a bit naughty".
