  1. Why do these people feel the need to apologise? I doubt many of us take much notice of what they say, so to me, it's just them trying to make themselves look less like tits now that their professional predictions have been shown to be complete ballcocks.
  2. Something special.....I said it earlier, and I think that the latest bit of the senior players going to RK about the day off show it - team spirit. I said, or rather hoped that it would go this way (rather than the alternative) that after the upheavals of the summer, the group left behind would pull together in an even closer knit group. There have been reports (can't recall which player it was) that have said this is exactly what has happened. RK's man management skills seem also to be a large part of it, not least in getting MS to be settled (for the time being!!). Even if we don't manage to carry it off, the small act that showed the players' commitment to the shirt and their ambition (I've noticed it's a word used an awful lot these days!!!) is very pleasing.
  3. Simon Peach's DM article about the day off: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2769851/Ronald-Koeman-stunned-Southampton-dedication-players-turn-day-off.html Quite proud of the players.
  4. Not surprised he didn't sign. I read that apparently he also had a deal on the table with someone else for £42/45K per week but QPR bettered it.

    Osvaldo

The more he scores the better. But still, not as good as .
  6. Ah yes - he played @ Millwall
  7. Oh when the Spurs annoys me intensely. Not sure why, but it does. See that Gashton has failed to make the Hull squad. Is he injured or just cr.ap?
  8. Well, Wenger said the problem with the second goal was not closing Clyne down. And the person not closing him down properly, was....Wilshere. Hardly inexperienced, but then I am not sure he expected Clyne to riflt it in for 30+ yards
  9. Agree, but wouldn't have SRL back.
  10. Heart says yes, cos I wear rose tinted and striped specs. Head says top 7 will be the same as last year, and the year before that. Having said that, that might be overly pessimistic. Everton seem to not be shipping in a horrendous number of goals, so maybe that is a place up for grabs. Man Utd haven't started yet, and their defence seems to be looking very vulnerable. Liverpool's defence is also looking weak and they don't seem to be gelling very well. Spurs haven't got going yet, and maybe they never will take to MPs methods. We just need to plug on and avoid the injuries. I am of the school were you build your team from your defence first, and I think that this year it looks better. Gardos looks good. Toby looks good. Fonte looks good. Bertrand looks good. Clyne looks good. Targett looks good. Yoshi looks good enough.
  11. Reckon it was about 31 yards, as I am guessing each stripe on the pitch is 6 yards wide.
  12. Ah, but are those players playing to a similar standard as they were last year? (Lovren included)
  13. Why did he come over to applaud Saints fans? Was it because he loved us so much? If so, then he should be wearing the stripes. No, it's this new thing, like not celebrating a goal you score against a previous club you have played for, that players do not want to alienate the fans of previous clubs. God knows why. Maybe it is this social media thing and an attempt to stop trolls. He didn't see his future with us. Some might remember this: http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/chambers-commits-to-saints-958138.aspx and then less than a year later he was gone. He dumped us. And people criticise those that boo him!!! Personally I wouldn't have, but I wouldn't criticise others (I reserved that for those booing Pelle after 1 game). It's like being dumped by your girlfriend and them coming out and saying "but we can still be friends". Yea right!!
  14. At the back end of last season, me and a couple of ST holders around me, all thought that RL was getting slower and slower and we worried about him this season (obviously before he left us for Liverpool). So when he left, I really didn't mind and was grateful for all the service he had given to the club. I realise that he offers a lot more than just being a CF, but with JRod off games, and RL being the main man up front, we looked somewhat toothless because he was a little ponderous. So he moves to Liverpool, and has to fit into their system, which he can't do. Why Rodgers signed him to not play him as he played for us is a mystery. Or rather, it's a mystery why Rodgers signed someone who wouldn't fit his system. I get the impression that that might have been AL's problem as well, but I feel he will fit in OK and others will fit in around him. But RL, it might be put down to it "only" being £4m (or whatever it was) plus wages, and that's that for Rickie. Well, at least he is at his boyhood club and no doubt his contract is rewarding him handsomely.
  15. AS her father was once a director, hardly a surprise.
  16. Can Lallana **** up?
  17. This is some penalty shoot out.
  18. Long is a canny old ****er
  19. Not sure I can stand this any more (and it's only a League Cup game FFS)
  20. http://www.firstevents.us/live9.html is OK
  21. LOTS of commentators saying its balls now that RK has done what he has
  22. Mané falls over a lot
  23. What was that - 30 yards? Commentator saying 35 is a bit OTT
  24. **** me Clyney
  25. I'll add to that, in that he says the most ridiculous of things a lot of the time just so that he can "create" a debate. He does it so often that when he doesn't, it's hard to take him seriously. His radio show, when teamed up with Gough, is truly appalling and usually I have to turn it off.
