Growing up with Saints during the 90s/2000s there are plenty to choose from. Worst I've been there for is possibly the 3rd goal for the 3-4 against Leeds in the Championship years. 3-0 up at half time, after they equalised with about half an hour to play the 4th was inevitable. I remember listening to that Tranmere FA cup game as a kid on the radio and had a pretty similar sick feeling. Just reminded myself of another..a 25 yarder in the cup up at the Memorial Ground from some lower league clogger, Lambert I think his name was...

Which club is better: Liverpool, Tottenham, Southampton, or Swansea

Travel back in time 5 years and read the title of this thread. ? -
Interesting that we're playing two Red Bull teams, any potential sponsorship link there?
-
Or you could say we failed to get on the equally arbitrary list of teams who have conceded 32 goals or less.

I consider Athletic to be our 'twin' club. The kit story is the obvious link, but the way they have always brought players through is similar. They are having a decent (ish) season built on a solid defence but struggled with goals a fair bit. The two cities share a fair bit of history too with Southampton welcoming a large number of Basque immigrants during the Spanish Civil War in the 30s. The old San Mames was a fantastic stadium, unbelievable atmosphere. The time I went was a 5-1 thumping of Valencia who at the time were managed by non other than our very own Ronald Koeman. Delighted they've recognised Le God like this, as mentioned above, people don't how highly he is regarded abroad.
-
Not really sure what kind of 'inquiry' it is and what that means for how far along it is. Sounded like it was a bit of an initial 'would you be interested' type conversation than anything official. Don't want to speculate too much as I'm not the 'primary' source as it were.
-
Don't want to come across all ITK, but I have heard that the club have made inquiries with contractors about expanding the Kingsland so I guess that means they've done some maths and they think it might stack up.
-
Wow.. That's a legit quote. Brendan Rogers actually said that.
-
He looks very much like Torres did at Chelsea. You can cry 'service' all you want but he just doesn't work hard enough for chances.
-
Wonder what it is in the last 4 games? I can't recall him making a save in that time. Liverpool had 2 today and scored both, Swansea had pretty much just the Shelvey goal. Neither QPR or West Ham got more than about 10 yards into our half. Not saying he should have saved them all (the second today wasn't great) but it kills morale to have all the possession without looking like scoring and then concede practically any time the opposition shoots.

Thats ok, I could never compete for that title with you around anyway! Honestly, whether we win lose or draw, it'll be out of my head within a few days, but I'd be chuckling to myself at the image of Lallana getting a 'wayward' elbow or something a long time after. That's me, stupid and immature!
-
Call me stupid, immature, whatever but I would take a red card and getting beaten 4-0 just to see that jumped up little gob****e get absolutely smashed into next week.
-
Had Adrian not done what he did, how would Mane have managed to not score? Ludicrous decision. Seriously, the referees this season have surely been worse than at any time in the last 20 or so years.

Post-Match Reaction: Queens Park Rangers 0-1 SAINTS
Joneth replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Got lucky today, pretty poor performance overall. Pelle wouldn't look out of place stood on top of a big pillar. Brilliant goal to win it, but we should be doing more with the ball than we did today (same as last week) -
Cork is far too good a player to be sat on a bench each week, he is has always been extremely consistent, keeps the ball really well and seems to put in some of his best performances away from home too. He'll play regularly at Swansea and will without doubt improve them. He's very unfortunate to find himself down in the pecking order but with the quality we have in midfield right now his chances are always going to limited. Good luck to him, still think he can get in the England side if we had a manager that understands the concept of balance in midfield.

If Man Utd had lost they would have been banging on about the top 4 losing. Anyway I'm not bothered enough to get into an argument with the forum's resident obsessive contrarian. We lost and we aren't Chelsea or Man City, I won't lose any sleep about it.
-
True, but we are 3rd in the league, wouldn't it have added to the whole shock FA cup weekend story by saying top 3?
-
BBC News sport section: 'The top 2 were knocked out of the FA Cup today' Even when we lose we still don't exist in the media.

Walk the other way past Chapel and past the church to the bottom of St Marys St. Probably won't get you where you want to go any quicker but at least your not jammed in.
-
I wouldn't rule out a brief return assuming Rodgers is still in charge come January.
-
Heard an interesting snippet about Shaw the other day. Seems the rumours about his attitude towards his fitness are true, we'd been worried about him for some time and were happy for him to be Man Utd's problem as we were getting tired of trying to keep him in check.
-
He hasn't come up against any of the big boys yet. The likes of Barry Sanchez will surely drop him down a peg but if he can keep it going Turkish could be in with a shout of the top 4 by the end of the season.
