Football League Show 27/02/10 & 13/03/10, It Seems
Stud mark of doom replied to St Landrew's topic in The Saints
Having watched it a few times he must be talking about Fonte 'bringing down' the Leeds player. I think the pictures are quite clear. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/javaImages/e0/4a/0,,10280~8669920,00.jpg -
Have We Ever Scored 5 Goals Back to Back?
Stud mark of doom replied to View From The Top's topic in The Saints
Went to both those games and thought about it on the way home last night. I was trying to think of the last time a Saints team, all 11 players, had played so fantastically two games running. Jason Dodd's first two games I think, and possibly Benali's first run in the side? -
Pretty sure that makes them one of the newest. Last in, first out.

What news on ticket sales for the Luton match
Stud mark of doom replied to brianoneils slidingtackle's topic in The Saints
Not sure if it has screwed up since but I initially thought this when I booked online a few weeks ago but then spotted that the "adult" option also had something like "adult season ticket holder" which gave the right discount. -
Pompey issued with winding up petition...

Barclays put us in administration, not Lowe. -
Third (excluding play off finals) after Notts County and Cardiff, both of which went up as Champions....

Xavi - "i'm Barcelonas Matt Le Tissier"
Stud mark of doom replied to Saint_clark's topic in The Saints
When Saturday Comes The article is complete rubbish though. I think the journalist went straight to the press box, didn't speak to any fans and didn't do any research whatsoever. In short we used to be in the premiership, we should never have left the Dell, now we are in league 1 and everything is a disaster. Apparently our owners must regret splashing out on a carpet with SFC written in it now. Coz, as we know, we are really strapped for cash at the mo. -
On a related theme, have you noticed that all the ads around the ground are gradually being replaced by Saints crests, including on both sides of the scoreboard. I presume they are not too bothered about selling at any price coz they know they will get lots more shortly....

Saints player - The commentary is crap!
Stud mark of doom replied to CLOTH EARS's topic in The Saints
I hadn't really noticed this until the Norwich game on SaintsPlayer but the commentary for our equaliser really was utter crap. Whoever did it should find himself another job. -
Maybe we should go for 8-0 and keeping the ball for 11 minutes - with one of our goals actually ending the move. AP's talk of us 'letting our hair down' reminded me that our keeper had extremely long hair that day. Someone told me once that he had vowed not to get his hair cut until he kept a clean sheet.

MLT - Footballs Greatest Penalty King
Stud mark of doom replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
Can't believe Shearer is on the list. The only time I can remember him taking one for us, away at Coventry I think, he missed. Never had much faith in him after that and I'm sure he missed a fair few in his later clubs. And where is Neil Ruddock? He may have only scored one out of three for us but the one was worth a place on the list on it's own. -
I've watched it four times and I still think he's going to put it in the other corner - class.

Only six places below us at the moment.......

The season starts now !!
Stud mark of doom replied to Sold To The Man @ The Bar's topic in The Saints
This is how I see the rest of the season panning out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rdGStyHK2nA&feature=PlayList&p=C12012F54F0D9B83&index=26 -
It will look a lot worse than it actually is for most of the season. Knocking off the full 10 points up front is big distortion - it's a much better reflection if you knock 1 off after 4 games, 2 off after 8 etc. If AP makes some good signings, which I am sure he will, I could easily see us keeping pace with the leaders on this more realistic basis. We should make the play offs with a bit of modest investment. I doubt a 61 year old billionaire will want to spend too long in league 1. Even the top two is not out of the question.

A safe pair of hands for post cup final celebrations.

Whatever happened to Brantfoot's trademark booting the ball straight out of play from kick off tactic? Can't remember that being replicated too often in the last 15 years.
-
I'm sure it goes back further than that. He got wound up good and proper and sent off early doors during the famous 6-3 result. (No doubt trying to extract revenge for the 3-1 'two shirts' defeat the previous season.) Never liked him. He was a disgrace when we went down.

"Of course it would be wrong to expect every Saints fan to return completely to the fold immediately..." Why not?

The administrators would have been appointed by the creditors, Barclays, not Lowe.

Best Game at the Dell: Win, Draw or Lose
Stud mark of doom replied to Redondo Saint's topic in The Saints
I loved the 4-2 swindon victory in the late eighties. Latter stages on the league cup, I think, but when it still meant something. We were 2-0 down at half time before the introduction by the Bruise Brothers, Ruddock and Shearer. Nichol's subs were inspired. We laid siege in the 2nd half and must have had at least 20 good attempts at goal, with Swindon barely being able to clear their penalty area, but didn't get level till near the end. Finished them off in extra time. Fantastic. I remember the 90's 4-0 victory against Boro well as I had it as a correct score bet. I remember thinking that it could be my lucky day when Super Ken made a chest-high "welcome to the Premiership" challenge on little Juniniho in the opening 30 seconds. But the best match at the Dell has got to be the last (real) one. I particularly remember heaving a sigh of relief when we almost made it four right at the end with an effort which just wouldn't have quite signed off 100+ years the right note. Perfect. -
Re being too late to lodge an appeal on the 10 pts. I'm sure I remember Mark Fry saying something like 'we have done everything necessary for a future owner to take forward an appeal'. So they would have notified an intention to appeal within the 7 day limit. It would have been on the old website though.
