  1. It’s a funny ol’ game.
  2. All we need to do is win the next game. And the next. And the next. And the…
  3. Ball touching arm or hand does not constitute handball. I’d be interested to know how you know what the referee’s opinion was. He had a clear view of the incident. Despite that, the decision of the IFAB (not actually a football Law) is that the goal should not have stood.
  4. It reminds me of Yes Minister: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Very-Courageous-Decision-Inside-Minister/dp/1459691709
  5. There are two questions. 1. If we get promoted is he the right man for the Premier League? 2. If we don’t get promoted is he the right man to try again next season?
  6. Maybe, but not what we need right now.
  7. Not so. In your opinion it was handball but not in the opinion of the referee.
  8. Was it clearly a double touch? His standing foot slipped when he kicked the ball but other than that I thought it was a clean strike.
  9. They were right about me.
  10. He’s average for this level. Nothing more. Nothing less.
  11. That would be down to the assistant rather than the ref, but your point still stands.
  12. That link is from 2021. It’s not handball if it’s accidental. Not my decision but that appears to be the current definition. In general I agree with you. In football you shouldn’t be able to score a goal with your hand or arm, hence not being able to score from a throw-in.
  13. I found this, ”Accidental handball that leads to a team-mate scoring a goal or having a goal-scoring opportunity will no longer be considered an offence.” https://www.theifab.com/news/annual-general-meeting-2021/
  14. What about the fact that he’s let in a lot of goals? My comment related to the reference to the players in front of the goalkeeper. It’s a team game.
  15. Unless it ‘wasn’t considered’ handball. Just a thought, although the point was raised elsewhere about goals not being allowed if an arm has been involved at a late stage is intriguing.
  16. An attacker off the pitch is considered as being on the goal line for the purposes of offside. At the game I thought that Che was actually right on the goal line.
  17. Exactly!
  18. Is this the one who has conceded 82 goals so far and has already been relegated?
  19. Unless it wasn’t actually handball?
  20. Except that they don’t. Mainly one-paced which is ok for playing chess but not much good for getting the pulse racing.
  21. Even a blind darts player will hit the occasional bullseye.
  22. But insignificant.
