I can't see him as team manager, somehow. I would imagine that it would be as 'Director of Football' with somebody else as 'Head Coach'. Keegan's name would certainly give the club an initial boost but it won't be long before the results on the pitch start to become more important. So who do we want for 'Head Coach'?

My personal feeling is that the academy is unsustainable at this new level of football, unless Mr. Big wants to take a long-term view, that is. Players' wages will obviously have to fall correspondingly and as Ponty points out, noy making stadium repayments would be a blessed relief. I'm quite sure that any new owner will have looked at all these sums very carefully. Anything over 12,000 would be outstanding in this division.

I'm going to stick my neck out and say that with the right manager and a couple of inspired signings I believe that the gates will be at least as big as last season. I cannot believe that anybody was attracted to St. Mary's by the big-name opposition and they certainly didn't come for the quality of the football. Depending on the dates, I'm looking forward to some of the away games. Carlisle, Yeovil, Swindon and I'd certainly like to go to Bristol Rovers again and do them over.

I read a comment at the time that we couldn't build there because it is reclaimed ground. I've never found out why that was a problem, unless it meant deep foundations. ...and Pompey aren't a Premiership football club, they are a club in the Premiership.

There might be some small smile of satisfaction should the figure ever be released. For now, I'll settle for a period of stability followed by steady improvement. Who knows, perhaps Barclays just got p!ssed off dealing with Rupert?

Could it be that Aviva and other creditors don't want it made public how much they are prepared to accept in settlement in case it prejudices other bankrupcy settlements?

Wonderful news! I wasn't really worried. In my opinion, anyone who has enough faith in the future of our club and us supporters to put up serious cash can post messages wherever and whenever they want. The last few seasons have been pretty depressing but at last I feel that we have turned a corner. My grateful thanks go to all those who have worked so hard to pull this off. Roll on next season! When can I renew my season tickets?

Look at it this way... If you were a club in League 1 would you pay £1m for him? ...thought not.
