  1. I found this from 2020. Daily Mail though Clubs are paid their TV money on a staggered basis over the course of the year, receiving one payment in August another around January and the third at the end of the season. In anticipation of receiving the funds it is common practice for clubs, especially those outside the so-called top six, to borrow money to ensure they have a significant amount consistently in the bank while they wait for the three-times-a-season payments.
  2. Yes indeed. Still photos can be very misleading but we seem to have drifted away from the days when ‘a tackle from behind likely to endanger an opponent’ was an automatic red card. I don’t believe he was given a yellow for it.
  3. Could it have been €34m ? Just a fint hope
  4. Plus the goal at Swansea?
  5. Here's a tackle he did earlier.
  6. Of course he is, his hand is open and flat. Good grief do people actually believe this crap?
  7. There’s a reason for that.
  8. Possibly. He joined United in 1989 and his multiple sclerosis was discovered in 1996 and may have been the cause of his problems.
  9. Wasn’t that the case with VVD?
  10. Danny Wallace?
  11. He was born in Ulldecona which is about 300km from Girona but he joine Barcelona's youth academy from Espanyol. So yes, definitely his home region. Nice area
  12. That's not a loan then is it? An option to buy maybe.
  13. I don’t think they had a choice. Government sanctions and all that stuff.
  14. Of course they aren’t. It’s a direct result of Brexit.
  15. You must be too young to remember 1976 and our glorious Minister for Drought The Right Honourable Lord Denis Howell, one FA referee from 1956 to 1966. Yes, I know you weren’t serious;)
  16. He was never our player and was always going to go back to Chelsea.
  17. He's been here ober ten years. That usually entitles a player to a testimonial.
  18. That’s because they all had proper haircuts. If these ladybodys want to play football they can’t be surprised when their hair gets caught up in something Six of one and half a dozen of the other. Cucurella was pulling on Romero’s shirt.
  19. Because they weren’t? Proper old-fashioned football.
  20. In a sense he is correct. The premier League is a man’s game.
  21. There were a few empty seats dotted around but close to full. The Saints website has the attendance as zero but that can’t be right because I was there and so was my grandson.
  22. There were a few incidents at throw ins that concerned me. KWP has a foul throw awards against him by the assistant who indicates that he had stepped over the line yet I had a clear view and the heel of his leading foot was quite clearly still on the white line when he released the ball. Near the end of the game over near the Itchen/Chapel corner a Leeds player took the throw in from the wrong place and was made to take it again. I thought that this should have been given as a throw in to us. In injury time a Leeds player down below me near the Northam end takes a throw in and his rear leg is off the ground. Should have been a foul throw.
  23. Man before ball, I thought.
  24. A lovely bit of skill to get him out of a hole in the first half yesterday closely followed by JWP flicking the ball up and volleying it across the pitch.
