I like him too and think he’s well worth his place. Perhaps we should just stop calling him a striker. -
Didn’t I read that Dubai Phil is now living in Poland with his Polish wife? I suppose he should be called Polish Phil now.

We've now won 9 games this season. We won 9 games in the whole of last season. -

We're past the stage now of worrying about what the other teams do. We're on 31 points with 14 games to go a couple of wins and a couple of draws should be enough. -

Flippin' 'eck! -
You need to be careful here, SOG. You wrote 'If she was white do you think that would be the case?' which is about as racist comment as you could make.

I've just watched the highlights again, courtesy of Wes (why do I put myself through that?) and Bednarek tried to tackle Traore with his wrong foot and Traore just skipped over him. I agree with Benji about wiping Traore out and taking the booking. Bednarek was booked ater on 57 minutes. Does anybody know why? Yeah, he's not what you want as a dynamic midfield general. If you watch that Wolves move again you can see Stephens plays Traore onside by hanging well back and then waltzes through it all as a spectator. What was the point in hanging back if he's not going to get across and clear the ball? As for that penalty, He panics and goes diving in when Cedric has it covered and doesn't get anywhere near the ball. It's not as though anyone has touched the ball either, he just completely mistimes his lunge. Cedric does everything right, gets his body across in front of Jonny who hasn't actually touched the pass and shields the ball. That lunge by Stephens is what turned the game.

He’s a drag on our midfield. Doesn’t get forward, doesn’t get back, too slow to snuff out danger, first thought is to play it backwards. We need better. It’s strange but I’m more disappointed by yesterday’s game than I was by the 9-0 to Leicester. That one just became a laugh, a freak of a game.
-
I suppose that’s theoretically possible but I’ll let you know if it ever happens
-
You’ve confused Cedric with Stephens.
-
Who? All three of them?
-
Not for offside, I would argue.
-
I’ve just seen the highlights (thanks Wes) and there was nothing wrong with any of their three goals but what the hell was Stephens doing for that penalty? That decision alone cost us the game and Cedric had the ball covered. He was ball watching for their goals and was back to the Tephens we all know, sad to say.
-
That’s all very true, but Ings wasn’t a lot different.
-
Yes, he seemed to me to be trying too hard. There were a few decisions that I might have given the other way but his biggest fault was not signalling for the free kicks. JWP got booked for only two fouls which was harsh but I thought he got the penalty decision right. I shall look at it again later but you couldn’t say that there was a clear and obvious error. 2-0 is always a dangerous score. Next goal will win it.
-
Of course it’s not accurate and there is a margin of error but all you have is a machine deciding instead of a human.

Straightjacket has only become common amongst those who don't know how to spell. Next thing you'll be calling it the Dover Straight not to mention that famous rock group Dire Straights.
-
There are six players there who are current first team squad members. That would be one hell of a clear out to be replaced with a load of unknowns. The others can be discounted in my view anyway.
-
I dunno. Liverpool seem to be benefiting from anything marginal.
-
I wondered about that yellow too. Wasn’t it our Claus who got a red card at Villa (?) for bringing down a player en route to goal. A player who was then found to be offside. The red card still stood, presumably because the ‘intent’ was there, yet we still lost a player. Çağlar Söyüncü Is the name on the tip of your tongue

We were very poor, now we're pretty good. What changed?

A settled team with two proper specialist full backs. -
I'm happy to get screwed
-
No, because VAR distorts the way the the officials control the game. The assistants on the line have been instructed to be more cautious over flagging for offside and a referee is going to leave marginal calls to the remote official.

FIFA ruling, innit. Maybe they want to make sure that the sponsors get seen during the goal celebrations. Mind you, I think that taking your shirt off is pointless but I am rather old.
