It is relevant because it is non-linear. One year you could be paying 20% and the next around 50%. You also assume that income is proportional to how hard you work. The key point is up that we need to reward hard work and enterprise, risk-taking by investment in new products and markets and in new methods of manufacture, not punishing this by ever-higher tax rates.

You may be thinking of salaried staff, we also have to consider all those that work in small businesses with incomes with significant variations from one year to the next.

Yes, I wouldn't expect more than about £10m to be available. An awful lot goes in agents fees and 'other disbursements'. Then there is always the dreaded Corporation Tax if we have the temerity to make a profit somewhere.

There is a point at which it is not worth working that little bit extra or investing in some new idea, especially when all the risks go one way. Once people have enough money then working progressively harder for diminishing returns becomes less attractive. The top rate in this country is effectively close to 50% which I think is too high.

I meant to refer to home games. It's different now that we can sell our seats for games we can't make but previously the small discount was offset by the ones we missed. Several times there has been no priority for you regular seat for cup games. It's very rare that I can buy a seat for away games, these go to those who can go regularly away. I'm not complaining about this, but very often I can't get an away ticket. It would be straightforward to include a membership with a season ticket.

Ah, I see what you mean. So that means a ST holder is no different from any other bod?

I'm inclined to agree with you. I've forked out over £1400 for two tickets and if I want to take any of the rest of my family I'm supposed to shell out again.

Sad indeed. Life is not fair.
