  1. That's what men did, even through the 60s. I have family photoraphs of uncles and grandads lying in deckchairs on the beach and they were wearing suits.
  2. That's the problem with a non-moveable feast like Christmas. Make it a Sunday every year and it would make life a lot easier.
  3. It's not for you to comment on this. It's up to everyone to spend their time and money as they see fit.
  4. Sod top 4, I want the title:)
  5. Years of abuse can do that. My wrist will never be the same again
  6. Anglo-Saxons were more eastern areas, I thought. This region was more Celtic tribes. When I first moved here in 1971 I noticed that there seemed to be more dark-haired short people around than there were in Essex. I had been used to tall blond specimens.
  7. Well that was rather pleasant
  8. I remember seeing that too. My wonderful wife (girlfriend at the time) was sensible enough to sit through it with me. The first football on TV in colour that I remember was the 1970 World Cup. (For those youngsters amongst us, colour TV can in with BBC2 and the 625 line UHF system) And yes, I agree totally that ITV are crap at football. That famous missed goal should have been enough to ban them from ever getting anywhere near it ever again.
  9. How did they do that, a tap on the knee?
  10. ??? Colour TV was much later, or am I missing something?
  11. You're right. I don't give a fúck.
  12. Correct, it's to do with the timing of the tides around Britain and the Cherbourg peninsula and things.
  13. That's disgusting. Which APP is this?
  14. Who does he play for?
  15. But then they wouldn't be 4th, they'd be 3rd and the team in 4th would be 5th. Or not. Or something.
  16. Doesn't one point higher than 4th put you in 3rd?
  17. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER. We've got a long way to go yet to make up for all those years of depression.
  18. Clean sheet, luvverly jubberly This is one I had to miss because we're on a well-earned cruise in the Atlantic but I feel a lot happier now.
  19. These reports are unbelievably simplistic. They make no allowance for the use of capital assets. All immigrants need to be fed, housed and watered. They need beds, food, fresh water, sewers, gas, electricity, transport, doctors, dentists, schools, the list is endless.
  20. Not today Hypo, not today
  21. Yes, he should have placed it reverently back in the box and put it down before carrying on. Once he hadn't done that it was a bit too late.
  22. Why the pessimism?
  23. I'm often wasted
  24. Sad to see him not being used. He's like a once-mighty battleship laid up at anchor, slowly rusting and waiting for a call to action that's never going to come. Soon all that will be left are memories of past glories.
