  1. Yes, ridiculous. It should be high-eighting.
  2. Well I'm not embarrassed. This was a top-level experienced referee with a very close call to make and he decided not to award a penalty. Fletcher wasn't tripped by Forster, he tried to avoid him by somersaulting over his crouched body. Forster had stopped before Fletcher got there.
  3. It certainly wasn't a mistake. He just had a different opinion to you. There was nothing eccentric about his decision, it was just one of those occasions where it could have gone either way. There have been far more dubious penalty awards over this weekend. In my opinion, of course.
  4. I never saw any of this as a problem. This is not a political party having to canvass for votes, all that matters are results on the pitch. I guess some of us have different expectations.
  5. Have a search for 'Flying in from Holland' and Pappalotti. Sorry, I can't find a way of posting the link from a Tapatalk.
  6. Her early film career include 'Confessions of a Driving Instructor' and 'The Sweeney' . I shall always remember her as the naked dead girl on the bed. She always seemed like a load of fun. May she Rest In Peace. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2010/02/13/article-1250758-08365D19000005DC-478_233x563.jpg
  7. Fair enough, but just out of interest was your view side on or looking down the pitch?
  8. Sorry, not sure whether you are saying that Forster had, or had not stopped?
  9. To his credit.
  10. Slow motion is misleading in incidents like these. It does not show the momentum of the players. Forster had come to a stop before Fletcher ran over him. The essence is was Fletcher tripped by Forster or did he trip over him? I think it also depends on your point of view, literal and otherwise. Let's just say it could have gon either way but was not clear cut.
  11. These incidents are all 'in the opinion of the referee'. This time the decision went our way but it was probably as close as you can get. In my opinion it could be argued that Forster had stopped and Fletcher had run into him.
  12. Are you including a top FA official in that list?
  13. My Chrome browser insists on translating everything it can so the title appears as 'Skin Disappointed' instead of Pelle
  14. Reading Darlington Bristol Rovers What upsets me is that I have been to 11 of the old grounds and that has reduced the total number of grounds that I've visited. At this rate they're knocking them down quicker than I can visit.
  15. It used to meet on an ad-hoc requirement. This from 2006:ttp://www.theguardian.com/football/2006/aug/23/theknowledge.sport "As a rule, if the initial attempt is goalbound it is credited to the player making the goal attempt," explained a Premier League spokesman. "However if the deflection means that a wayward effort results in a goal then it is attributed to the player who had the last definitive touch of the ball." The committee seems to have met earlier this month: http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/sam-allardyce-revels-in-absolutely-brilliant-west-ham-win-against-liverpool-9746424.html
  16. Plough Lane now a 'residential development' according to this: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/27733352 And this: http://www.premierfootballbooks.co.uk/plough_lane.html Quite a collection here: http://www.premierfootballbooks.co.uk/aerial_lost_stadiums.html
  17. It doesn't necessarily mean that there's a conspiracy but everybody manipulates the media to their own ends, including the media themselves. Take everything with a pinch of salt and try to see the angle that they're coming from.
  18. It could have gone either way and shows how difficult it is for a referee to reach a decision. Watching it at the time from the central Kingsland it appeared to me that Fletcher had overhit the ball and Forster came out to block the shot but crucially had stopped short of ploughing through him. Fletcher got a toe to the ball first and then tried to avoid the challenge.
  19. I wonder if 10-0 would have fitted.
  20. Oh dear. Does that mean away trips in August to countries we've never heard of in former communist republics?
  21. Hmm... Goes to clear a ball that was going in anyway and the ball rattles between his legs. Not in the same class as Vergini's.
  22. I'm coming round to the opinion that it's Pellè's goal. True, it was hit strongly enough but it squirmed out under the keeper and then rattled between Bridcutt's legs before creeping over the line. If Bridcutt had been standing on the line and the ball had gone into the goal via the inside of both legs then there'd be no argument. Ostenstad's shot was going in anyway.
  23. Surely objective 2 leads to objective 1?
  24. I do hope the old chap is ok. It's unlike him to stay away for long.
