Sorry to hear that. I'm taking my eldest grandson (11) tomorrow for his first game. I suppose I'll have to take him to the shop first

The key question is who posted the video on the Internet? Without that would the poor did dumps have been bullied? -
Global warming really is happening... (well, duh!)
Whitey Grandad replied to 1976_Child's topic in The Lounge
No, it's still turning. In fact the more carbon in the air the more that is soaked up. The global warming community got quite a shock a decade or so ago when they found that their estimates of the Amazon rainforest canopy were under by more than 10%. Apparently all the leaves had got bigger so although the canopy looked the same size it was in fact absorbing more CO2. Of course they keep chopping it down... -
Ah, but is that an appeal against a CAS decision or against a domestic one?

These are very simplistic and don't tell us anything that we didn't know already. It's the difference between the carbon sources and sinks that's important and these have only been estimates for some time now, particularly the sinks. -
It's not a real choice though, is it?

And how much of that is re-absorbed? Without CO2 there would be no plants. Without plants there would be no animals. Drop CO2 back to pre-industrial levels and see what happens to crop yields and then see how many people starve. It's not all one-way negative. -
Haven't West Ham been in trouble before? How much did Sheffield United get, £20million?

Indeed, too many dinosaurs or things. Which came first, the CO2 or the temperatures? -
We could do better.

But not the warmest ever. -
There's no chance of reversing the decision now. If they did all the refs would hang up their boots.

Saints 16th in this season's fair play table
Whitey Grandad replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
Seems a bit convoluted: http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/matchday/fair-play-calculation.html For red/yellow you start at 10 points per game and then lose them. Points are awarded for: Positive Play Respect to Opponents Respect to the Referee Behaviour of Team Officials Behaviour of the Public How West Ham get any points for Positive Play baffles me. -
Kevin Davies and Lee Holmes for Preston and Dan Harding for Forest on BT Sport at the moment in their fourth round replay. Good to see Kevin still putting it about.

An amusing Australian advertisement

Always good to reminisce down memory lane... Whatever happened to 'buy me and stop one'? Shouldn't the Tesco one read 'Helps every little'? -
You're quite right about the final day. The top league places might all be settled by then, one of the teams might be in the Champions League final, all I'm bothered about is Saints beating Man Utd and denying them a top 4 spot. My preferences are: West Ham West Brom Fulham Sunderland Cardiff Ah, can I have five please?

Do you think so?

No referee will take any notice of the reaction of the aggrieved player. Carroll's wild swing of the arm was unnecessary and exaggerated and his intent was clear. As a referee you always have to be careful in assessing the physical state of the player who has been fouled, there's always a possibility that they are genuinely injured.

Isn't there some condition that the 'fine' has to be commensurate with the cost/damage that they have incurred?

A mate eh? I've not been the same since my heart operation, I blame the tablets. I'm on beta-blockers and ACE inhibitors. The beta-blockers are to stop me getting excited and the others are to keep my blood vessels dilated. If you, or your mate, are concerned then what's wrong with a trip to the doctor? There is one test to give an indication of whether it's physical or psychological. Most men get an erection in the early morning. If you take a strip of stamps (don't have to be first class:)) and wrap them around the base of the object in question and lightly gum them together then if you have had an 'event' during the night the perforations will have been torn. Good luck
