  1. The BBC were creaming themselves this morning on Radio 4, quite embarrassing really. Everybody dies eventually.
  2. And Middlesbrough 1997. Didn't they lose two finals and get relegated?
  3. Fernanda Lima.
  4. Fernanda Lima. I've given up on the finals already.
  5. Thanks, found it on the BBC website. Just logged on in time to hear about the wet season or something.
  6. Don't tease! Where are you watching this?
  7. Quite so. We can speculate all we like but we shall never know what difference putting out a full first team would have made. It could be that our league position would have been worse.
  8. You can get cream for that. Or is it a special kind of bubble gum?
  9. That would be handy.
  10. Indeed. The debate will go on for ever as to whether it was because of the time spent in jail or despite it.
  11. How do you know it hasn't?
  12. Likewise. The concern now is that his inspiration will create an enduring change of attitudes in South Africa.
  13. Bugger. I was looking forward to seeing Victor against Toure.
  14. I've just been along the beach at Hamble for my constitutional walk. I was struggling along the gravel into the teeth of a gale when some runner came jogging past me.
  15. Thanks for that , it's the first time I've smiled since last night
  16. Ask not for whom the thread trolls, it trolls for thee.
  17. There's no such thing as wrong and right as far as grammar is concerned.
  18. You may be right, we scored more but don't forget that we also conceded more.
  19. Nobody should be banned just for having an opinion. It goes completely against free expression. It's a good thing we're all different.
  20. He's not good enough.
  21. I can't add much more to these.
  22. I wouldn't beat yourself up about it. I don't think the possessive apostrophe is necessary in these cases.
  23. Yes, this is from a Canadian website and there are many differences between North American and British English usage. They say 'different than' for example. http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/words/who-or-whom
  24. Out of interest, which answer was that?
  25. Quite straightforward really. I don't agree with their use of who/whom. Modern English has superseded their archaic interpretation. I would use 'who' for subject and direct object (accusative) and 'whom' for indirect objects (dative). Edit: I had a suspicion that they were using the North American interpretation and I've just noticed that it's a Canadian website.
