  1. But it costs less to give them benefits than it does to employ them in meaningless jobs. The answer, of course, is to reduce the amount that is paid out in benefits.
  2. Nobody committed any crime, it was all legal. The whole collapse started in America after Clinton had persuaded the banks to give mortgages to poor people who couldn't keep up the payments when times got tough. Was he wrong?
  3. I would prefer to choose how to invest my earnings (personal and business) myself rather than let the government take it off me and pour it down the scuppers of the public services. I need to invest in new products and designs and new sales efforts but if the government takes my moneys then there's not enough left for all that.
  4. I don't know anybody who relies on inherited money.
  5. Raising the top rate from 40% to 50% resulted in less revenue. Raising above 50% would only reduce it even more.
  6. Yup, they were all in it together. Labour's obsession with the City to the exclusion of all the other sectors of the economy was always bound to end in tears.
  7. I agree. We are not investing in the future, we are subsidising the past.
  8. You will be pleased to hear that I have just had a reply from SIP to my email.
  9. Almost as good as Davis's yesterday
  10. Quiet night yesterday, was it?
  11. Yes, I didn't see it at the time but it was quite clear on the tele. As a ref I class handball as a foul, it's easier than saying 'direct free kick to the opposition'
  12. I'm not fussy, I can't afford to be.
  13. He says that Torres's 'goal' was given offside when it was in fact a free-kick for a foul.
  14. Philip, who sits in front of me, said that Lampard dragged Ricky away from Terry who he was marking at the time. It will be interesting to see it later on MOTD.
  15. My memory's not quite what it was, and I may have had a celebratory bottle of Old Peculiar
  16. A good ref, I don't think anybody mentioned him in the celebrations.
  17. It is two games for ten cards by second Sunday in April but hopefully it won't happen. http://nav.thefa.com/sitecore/content/TheFA/Home/TheFA/~/media/37C906F6526B487B8BD17E4FCEB61FD4.ashx/FADiscProc11-12.pdf
  18. The cut off date is 'by' the second Sunday in April so he should be ok then. That's a relief.
  19. Just had a look. 'By the second Sunday in April' so he should be in the clear. Which is nice.
  20. Only 8? I think the date is later, around April 25th. Ish.
  21. Great result. The only negative is that I think Morgan's yellow card takes him up to ten and that means that he misses two games.
  22. Because of our league position?
  23. Huh, some people have no ambition.
  24. So sad to think of all that he's missed.
  25. Nah, lots of respectable people watch BBC4.
