  1. CO2 levels have been far higher than this in the past and the world has not cooked. The dinosaurs thrived on it for many millions of years.
  2. Number 1 for me, for what it's worth. I assume this is the correct aspect ratio? (just checking)
  3. Me neither. Bloody television ruins football.
  4. Very true, but this is a whapping great correlation and points you in the right direction to start looking for further evidence.
  5. A group of them turned up at the bottom of Ensign Way, Hamble on Friday. They've taken over the parking spaces of the industrial units.
  6. That much is known and accepted. William Herschel noticed a direct correlation between the price of wheat and the number of sunspots. What is not known is the method by which they affect the climate. Because there is no science about this it cannot be incorporated into the climate models. Until there is more research the debate goes on... http://www.csmonitor.com/2007/0927/p13s03-sten.html
  7. Butlins? - Luxury! We had to make our own holiday camp. Three sticks of bamboo and grandpa's old hanky for a tent. If we wanted a swimming pool we had to dig a hole in a field and wait for it to rain. No cornflakes for breakfast. We had to cut little shapes out of old cereal packets and eat those. If we wanted milk we had to weight until the neighbours' dog had another set of puppies and try to squeeze the few last drops out of her. You try and tell the youngsters about it today and they won't believe you.
  8. I wonder which part I will have donated? I hope it's his smile (or part of it, maybe a tooth).
  9. I'm fairly certain that's a renewal but it would be prudent to check.
  10. A nice bloke but I think 'never let us down' is stretching things a bit too far. I think Maik Taylor was a better keeper but we sold him for £500k and bought Jones for £1m.
  11. Cheers for that. I'm not sure we can afford another promotion.
  12. Is that why you're called 'revolution' Saint?
  13. No, you were right the first time. I did spell it incorrectly, but surely everyone is entitled to the odd slip of the keys? Disposable income as teenagers? You're 'avin a larf. Watch 'Saturday Night and Sunday Morning' to see what life was like.
  14. You have been using 'entitled' in the wrong context.
  15. I take it you weren't there? For teenagers the sixties were nothing like they have been portrayed.
  16. You really, really haven't go a clue, have you?
  17. Entitelment is conferred on the receiver of the concession by the organisation which is offering it. Hence anybody who meets the terns of the concession is entitled to receive it. Perhaps you mean 'deserving' of a concession? If they want to offer such then it is up to them. In this instance they have removed the concession, as they are entiled to do, and also applied very large price increases. This, along with the lack of postal information and extremely short renewal window is very curious marketing. I am deeply concerned about the way this club is heading.
  18. It's all men, men, men with you isn't it? What about the women!
  19. That's not what I am saying. In calling his dog 'n****r' he was not comparing or inferring anything against people of a different skin colour. The word had another meaning which was literally 'black' and came direct from the Latin and most educated people would have had this knowledge. The names Niger and Nigeria also have the same root. You're quite right that people held views which would be considered racist by today's standards. You should hear what they said about the Germans at the time.
  20. Gibson wasn't being racist when he named his dog. The word was also in common usage to describe a colour which was very dark black.
  21. Thanks Jenmason. My roof faces south-east so in the summer we get a lot of sun on it from 04:30. Would it be better for me to feed the electricity back to the grid, or to heat my hot water with the immersion heater thereby saving gas? The net cost to me would be 3p per unit seeing as I would get the 43.3p/unit anyway, but II would be saving the cost of the gas.
  22. Ok, let's put this to bed. I am arguing on behalf of those who are not able to do so, my circumstances are for me alone to consider and 'anger' does not describe the way I feel. The pension age is being increased because the working population is expected to live longer but those who are now over 60 were born at a time when environmental issues amongst other factors have meant that they will not live as long as those born 20, 30 or even 40 years ago and many have passed on before they even got close to drawing a pension. This lot will not be around to complain about centenarians.
  23. It will affect you too some day. It's because they are 'nearly dead' that they deserve a concession. What do you expect them to do? Sit in the corner and keep quiet?
  24. They could very easily have written a script that did not mention the codeword for 'mission complete'.
