  1. I was, but it may be different to yours.
  2. At last! a like mind. Even worse, I find, is when you hold the door open for someone and they suddenly stop and look at something, not even aware that you are offering them a courtesy.
  3. The essence of good manners is to make one's guests feel comfortable and 'at home'. To comment upon their table habits would be infra dig., although it would be infra dig. for anyone of true class to to ever use such a term.
  4. I always find tha 'an otel' sounds somehat pretentious, don't you think? Here's something else for you: An orange was originally called 'a norange'.
  5. Otel would be the french way of speaking. I suppose it goes back to the old norman-saxon perceived class differences, you know, cream/milk and that sort of thing.
  6. It's dialect. There's nothing wrong with that, except that one risks showing up oneself, doesn't one?
  7. Hmm.. Cyprus not too bad at the moment: http://weather.yahoo.com/cyprus/paphos-district/paphos-841589/?unit=c
  8. That's nothing. A few years ago we went to a wedding at Hinckley and stayed the night in a local hotel. It turned out that the whole of the Portsmouth team were staying there, Rednapp, Joe Jordan, Sol Campbell the lot. They had a pre-season friendly at Leicester. On Saturday morning we went out for a recce and on returning to the hotel the whole team were walking along the road to the car park. I could have put my foot down and flattened the lot. The only thing that stopped me was that it was a dead-end and I would have had to turn round and driven over them again and I might have been caught. How can I ever live with myself?
  9. No, it's Itunes. It should be pronounced: 'It Sucks'
  10. FA Cup rules for the record: http://www.thefa.com/TheFACup/FACompetitions/TheFACup/~/media/Files/PDF/The%20FA%20Cup%20And%20Comps/CompetitionDocs%202010-11/FA%20Cup%20rules%202010-2011.ashx/FA%20Cup%20rules%202010-2011.pdf 22. PROCEEDS OF MATCHES PRIOR TO THE SEMI-FINALS (a) The net gate receipts due from a match (except replayed matches in consequence of a breach of the Rules) shall be the total ticket sales for the match less VAT, the travelling (and possibly accommodation) expenses of the Visiting Club, the fees and expenses of the Match Officials, and other match expenses allowed under the Competition Rules (which include costs relating to gate attendants, turnstile operators, stewards, police charges, floodlighting in accordance with the Competition Rules, contributions to the costs of First Aid Helpers and any costs relating to clearing the ground of snow and water provided the Visiting Club is consulted beforehand on the approximate costs). Any shortfalls in receipts are the responsibility of the home club and are not to be shared. The Professional Game Board shall have the power from time to time to issue instructions as to what shall and shall not be allowed as a match expense. Section 23 (Match Expenses) : is also interesting, as are the fees for the match officials, Section 19:e referee £310, assistants £155 (each). Meal allowance depends on travel time, £15 to £25.
  11. Especially when the OS says 'on sale from Thursday afternoon'. I'm in the kingsland so I shall wait until the last possible moment.
  12. If both clubs agree then the away supporters can be charged more, but the net proceeds are still shared equally. I suspect that Shrewbury want to maximise their revenue, and who can blame them?
  13. Do you mean that you have a standard mortgage on it, or no mortgage at all? If you have a mortgage then I'm pretty sure that you need to notify the company.
  14. Ignorant Apple Virgin that I was, I bought my daughter an Ipod Touch for last Christmas. When she opened her present she was thrilled but the excitement faded when she found out that there was nothing she could do with it until it had been 'activated'.
  15. I had trouble with Itunes 9 on my office machine. Worked ok at home but when I updated to Itunes 9 the program just refused to run. The previous version worked fine (as fine as it ever could be) so I had to uninstall and revert whcih was not easy as there are load of 'hidden' files to get rid of. Isn't the latest version Itunes 10?
  16. Only Itchen and Northam open to start with. they've done it again, stupid buggers. I'll wait until the Kingsland is opened.
  17. Make sure you have at least 6 months validity on your passport after your last date abroad. The US can be touchy about criminal convictions. They do not ever regard these as 'spent'. http://london.usembassy.gov/b2.html For Australia I believe they are no longer compulsory.
  18. Talking of employment, nobody has mentioned the number of jobs that have been taken up by 'immigrants'.
  19. Surely your experiences will depend on the type and size of the organisations in which you worked?
  20. Look PFC, your arguments fall down on one major point. If we 'gained a competitive advantage' then why were we so crap?
  21. I usually find that when people say 'no disrespect' they mean exactly the opposite.
  22. The only person I have ever met from Shrewsbury always insisted that it was Shroosbury, and how many people in Romsey do you ever hear calling it Rumsey? I think you'll find that Rumsey is reserved for his Lordship. I'm with you on the seat sales arrangements. Perhaps we should get our retaliation in first?
  23. Keep sticking it up, PFC! I guess the world looks different from your side of the wall.
