Don't think that the club is saying they're not good enough. All clubs have to release youngsters because they can't just keep everyone, who has come through the academy ranks. They need to make room for the next intake and so on and so forth. Several of this intake will probably make it as pros elsewhere and may have to go down to go up, like Denis Wise, Kevin Phillips etc. have done in years gone by.

Suspect Connolly will have been offered some sort of pay as you play deal, which may or may not be acceptable to him?
